  1. This is an odd bug that I noticed while trying to "search" for events in an area I'm traveling to. 1. Search Map: I clicked on Event icons from left to right. The Placed by / on info correctly changed as I clicked from "Cache 26th..." to "Middle of..." - but did not update as I clicked on "Creation Celebration..." and "17th Annual..." 2. I had to click on "Description & Hint" of the "17th Annual Texas Challenge and Festival" in order to see the actual date of the event, which is actually in the past (3/9). Then x'd out of the description to see the correct info in the left preview pane. 3. I then clicked on Event icons from right to left. The Placed by / on info now shows the correct CO/Date for the "17th Annual..." event (see step 2 above) - but does not update as I click on "Creation Celebration..." and "Middle of..." icons. But then it does update and show the correct info for "Cache 26th...". 4. Compare this to the quick-and-easy view of the Event Date when clicking on an event cache icon using the Browse Map.
  2. I'll go ahead and add my vote for retaining a direct path to the Browse map. I prefer to use the Browse map, because getting a 'quick view' of the cache attributes (D/T/Size/CO/HideDate) does not require me to keep looking back to the left of the window. Clicking on each cache on the Search map requires me to look left, then right, then left, then right, as I click through different cache icons. Clicking on each cache on the Browse map does not require that eye scanning, as the info shows up right above the icon that I'm already looking at. The usability differences are even more pronounced when clicking on Event icons, because with the Search I have to scroll and click to the description on each one in order to see the date of each event - since the "Placed On" info is buggy, which I'll post about in a separate topic.
  3. At the park? Were the two images that don't show the Edit Image option posted via the Official App, while the other two photos that you posted later were uploaded via the website? I wonder if the problem is related to the platform used to upload the photos.
  4. And then submitted it again, so that it stays decrypted on the cache page? Seems odd that the website would make it that easy to unencrypt a log, but maybe the feature is geared towards allowing the CO to mask logs from cachers that are unlikely to care about going back and changing it. I saw a log recently that I wish the CO would've encrypted, or deleted. it was full of curse words and bad language, but it did eventually get manage by a Reviewer. Do you get notified that a log you submit is encrypted?
  5. How easy is it do that? Do you Edit your own log and then rewrite it, in unencrypted form?
  6. The engineers are working on it, as has been mentioned in other threads related to website performance.
  7. Just to be clear with the OP. Are you trying to delete photos that are attached to a log you posted on a cache page? I'm a bit confused on what you're trying to do because in your OP you said you "uploaded two more photos to that cache page" and so just clarifying if you're trying to edit a cache page or a cache log.
  8. The problem is that they're not seeing the "Edit Image" button.
  9. Yeah. Last weekend I didn't get an email for one find on a cache, and a couple other emails came through several hours after the logs were submitted. I knew they when they were submitted because I happened to be talking to the finder when the emails came through, and one hit my inbox about a half-hour after the other. Even though both had been submitted hours earlier.
  10. Instructions for uploading caches marked as "Found" (or Did Not Find) in your GPSr to the website can be found here: Upload drafts (field notes) The cache actions you record in your 64s will be saved, with a timestamp, in the geocache_visits.txt file on your unit. When those draft logs are uploaded to the website, then they will be in the order dictated by those timestamps. Viewing the found caches by selecting "Show Found" in your GPSr will display them by distance, since the GPSr is mainly a navigation device and so distance is most relevant. There isn't a way to change the sort order.
  11. Looks like my eTrex was due for updates. Installed a couple updates and now it's showing the correct time when I switch the Time Zone setting back to Automatic. Yay!
  12. Looks like both souvenirs have been added to her profile. Sometimes the souvenirs take a few hours to show up. They are not always instantaneously displayed on profiles. Not sure about the favorite points. There were website issues over the weekend and I had some delays with points showing up, then I deleted and reposted, and then I ended up getting double points for some of my finds. So then I just stopped logging until the website got back to acting a bit more normally. If the favorite points were awarded when the website was buggy, then maybe that explains why her points are lacking? I'd suggest sending a message to HQ via the "Contact Us" link at the Help Center: https://www.geocaching.com/help/
  13. The US rankings look quite different when applying filters to exclude Archived caches. When doing so, room104 is ranked #2, since 6000+ of their hides have been Archived.
  14. Yes, the app and website are not the same. When you get around to hiding a cache, you will need to use the website. Which, I think, is a good thing. The 'game' started on a website and existed before phone apps, so the website is certainly going to be where most of the existing resources and functionality can be found.
  15. If your friend sent you a message through the app, then you should be able to view and respond to that message in the app. Is that what you were trying to do? You can read and write messages to any geocacher, as long as you know their username, via the app. They do not have to be in your "Friends" list to exchange messages.
  16. Souvenir-based challenges can be fulfilled without the souvenirs from short-term promos. The challenges have requirements like "Collect 50 souvenirs on your geocaching profile". Certainly the promotions can make it easier for someone to get the required number of souvenirs, but someone can also get the required number without promos - especially if they travel a lot. Certainly, a Souvenir challenge that says "Collect all 5 Cache Carnival souvenirs" should not be publishable - but one that says "Collect 5 souvenirs" is not a problem.
  17. Maybe I missed it, but did you mention what type of hardware you're using to get such good results? I think you're confusing the Browse Map with the Search Map. The Browse Map is not part of this update. It's the Search Map that is being changed, and if you don't like the new Search Map then you can OptOut by going to this page and clicking on the link to Opt Out on that page. The Browse Map (Play -> View Map) will show smileys at their posted (not solved) coords. So GeoArt will display as the art shape. The Search Map (Play -> Search) will show smileys at their solved coords, so GeoArt does not "work" - but this can be good when wanting to remind yourself where the cache you found was, or when wanting to check for proximity issues. More commentary from me about it HERE .
  18. I think the reason is that the Status section is applying the "All" radio button of the previous Advanced Search, but without showing the "All" option. Imagine there is a third option for each status that says "all", which is what was displayed in the previous Advanced Search filters pane. When neither of the visible options is selected, it's because the "all" option is selected. I mentioned this same thing on 2/1 on page 4 of this thread. If the rationale is that "when nothing is checked, no filters are applied" then that rationale should be applied to the entire pane. Cache type and cache size do not work that way. For type/size the user has to select which ones to display. If none are checked, then they don't all apply.
  19. Ah, now I see it. It's on page 5 of that thread - Tuesday, 4/2. Seems it would've made more sense to start a new Topic for that, but oh well.
  20. Your settings on the Bookmark List are correct, Public and Shareable. With those settings, your bookmark list will show up on the cache page of all caches that are in the Bookmark List. The list will also appear on your Public Profile, so other cachers can view it. The reason you're not seeing the list on the Challenge cache page is because the Challenge cache is not included in the Bookmark List. Once you add the challenge cache to the list, then you should see it on the cache page.
  21. Yeah, the date was on April 5th when I turned it on. Then it got the satellite connections and the date corrected itself to April 8th, but the time didn't correct. I'd think it would know what time zone to use, based on where it recognizes me as being - and the icon on the map screen did correctly show me in PST, but oh well. I just turned it on again, it correctly says 2:15pm, when I change the time zone to Automatic it says 9:15pm, so I'll just have to remember to keep checking the setting. I don't cross time zones often, so not too much of a hassle. I just thought it was odd that it happened around this week rollover timeframe. Doesn't seem like it would be related though.
  22. I guess I just never changed it to PST then. Odd that it was set to Automatic and showed GMT time (7:30am) when I turned on the unit this morning (12:30am). It had always shown the correct time before, when it was presumably still set to Automatic. Oh well, it's hardset to PST now.

    Cache logs

It's been mentioned in other threads that the website has been slow and buggy the past couple days. Scrolling to the bottom of the page, it just takes some extra waiting before the logs show up. But they will, usually, show up eventually. Once the website gets back to normal behavior, then you should see the logs at the bottom of the page as expected. The "All Logs", "Your Logs", "Your Friends' Logs" options you mentioned in your OP are when/if you click on the "View Logbook" option. And there it should be defaulting to the "All Logs" tab. It does for me, and it sounds like for Mineral2 too.
  24. My eTrex 20 seems to be fine. The date showed April 5th when I first turned it on, but corrected itself to current date once it connected to satellites. However, the time was not correct. The unit showed a time that's 7 hours ahead of current time in PST. I had Setup -> Time -> Time Zone = "Automatic". Once I changed it to "US - Pacific" then the correct time displayed. I don't recall setting the Time Zone to "Automatic", but it seems like it would automatically know what time zone to use since it knows where I am based on my GPS coords. Not sure if the setting changed to "Automatic" by itself, or if I always had it that way.
  25. I have the same versions and phone, and the souvenirs are working for me. Even the new Carnival souvenirs show up in the app. I can only imagine the difficulty in fixing these types of bugs when it's only a problem for some users using the same equipment.
