  6. PFFFT! 'DC area heavies'....NOT! Hahahaha! But thanks for the mention. It was a decent article and I was especially pleased that MGS got such great billing - they deserve it! Sheesh, if I could just rack up about 11,000 more finds to match my good friend CCCooperAgency, THEN you could call me a 'heavy'! Cheers To All! Airsafety
  7. Hi Everyone, I don't usually peruse the national forums, but this post caught my eye. I'd like to point out our own Northern Virginia cacher, GLM, who is a commercial balloon pilot. You can contact GLM through the geocaching website. Great posts, and fantastic pictures. I've never been in a balloon, but I hope to change that someday. Cache Well, Airsafety
  8. Hi Gang, The Washington Post will be running a story about geocaching in this Friday's edition of the Weekend section. I was lucky enough to meet the reporter a few weeks ago, and we did a few of my caches at the Rust Sanctuary here in Virginia. We also had the pleasure of meeting up with a Post photographer on October 2 who joined us for a group hike at Goose Creek as part of the Hot, Hot, Hot! event. Many thanks to the Washington Post staff for their interest in our sport, and especially our photographer, who had no idea what she was getting in to as we scrambled up and down ridgelines, through brambles, pickers, and spider webs, over streams, etc, etc. She was a real trooper! Cache Well Everyone! Airsafety (this post copied in part from the Northeast forum)
  9. The Post is sold in every major city in the free world... yes, even in New Jersey!

  13. One week to go! We have added another bike ride at 7:00 am, so it will now be possible to do the ride and hike if you wish. There are rumors of door prizes in the air - can it be true? See you next Sunday! Airsafety
  14. We want our Bastet back! Have a blast up there in Rochester, and think of all your NoVa caching friends the next time you go to Dinosaurs and pig out on BBQ! Airsafety
  15. Times and activities have been finalized - you can hike Goose Creek, take a bike ride on the historic W&OD trail, or join a cache caravan! So far, 9 new caches have been placed for the event - we'll probably see a few more between now and October 2nd - I can't wait! Additionally, the owner of the Goose Creek caches is allowing hike participants to re-log their finds on the event day (even if they have previously found the caches!) Event time will be 2:30 - the event is casual and there will be a TB swap. Cache Well! AS
  16. The event cache page has been updated - there are now three pre-event caching activities! See you at the event! Airsafety
  17. Hi Gang, I'm pleased to announce a caching event in Ashburn, Virginia on Sunday, October 2. There will be at least two pre-event caching activities, with the event itself taking place at Tijuana Flats, a new Tex-Mex casual dining restaurant that is famous for it's hot sauces (there is also a children's menu for young cachers.) HOT, HOT, HOT! Hope to see you there! Airsafety
  18. Hey Hey! Congratulations Bisanabi! WOOWOO! COme back to Virginia for 500... I have some GREAT new hides out here just calling your name! ~Airsafety
  19. So now I'm having a relapse. It started yesrday with fatigue, then the fever. Tonight I have a 103 reading, with the chills. No fun. 1500 mg of ibuprofen has killed the headache, but nothing seems to touch the fever... The Doc is seeing me tomorrow, and he told me to keep the pm open for possible tests at the hospital. Be careful out there amigos! AS
  20. Hi Gang, I need to convert my GPS decimal coordinates to the long decimal format- is there a utility out there that will do this for me? Many Thanks, ~Airsafety
  21. Thanks evryone for your thoughts on this - the cache page has been corrected and all is well in Virginia. Gonna lock the topic - Cache Well! Airsafety
  22. Thankee, thankee! Now, how can I remove this topic? LOL AS
  23. I'm one of the lucky. Got mine the old fashioned way - in a cache Those ARE awesome coins; well worth the 5 bucks. The only cache item I value more is my Spitwinkle keychain! I tried doing zipper pulls this spring, but they are time consuming to make... I was thinking of changing to old caching socks... I have those aplenty, and they have 1000 uses around the house... ~Airsafety
  24. Hi Gang, How can I remove a YJTB from one of my caches? It is apparently making some folks a little nutty... is there a way clean up my cache page? Thanks dozens, Airsafety
