  1. I really like the aerial maps in the PN-40. Can you purchase maps like these for any of the garmin units? I checked their site but only see city, and topo maps.
  2. I am trying to decide between the Vista HCx, 60GSx, and the Oregon 300. Trying to justify spending the extra cash on the Oregon is becoming hard to do. That only way I can do this is if I load the city maps on it and use it as a driving GPS as well. Does anyone use the 300 in this way? How well does it work, and what features does it have (spoken street names, etc...)? I have used the Garmin Nuvi's in the past and loved them. How would the 300 compare to them? Also since the Dakota series is coming out, on Amazon they are both listed for the same price of $350. Can anyone think of why I would go with the Dakota over the Oregon? Doesn't the Oregon have better features? Thanks all!!!
  3. Just curious who I should purchase from. Not many maybe 5-10. Who has the best price and such? Thanks all!
  4. Cant you transfer gpx files to the 60csx or vista hcx as well? I thought it transfered them but you just lost the discriptions, hints, ability to add logs, etc...?
  5. I am trying to narrow down my GPS purchase. So far on my list I have the 60CSx, Vista HCx, PN-40. I also see the colorado/oregon series seem to be recomended. Other than size and touchscreen what is it that these GPS do that the others do not? Garmins site is not much help in narrowing down the differences. Thanks all!
  6. So far I am looking at the 60GSX and Vista HCx. I am not locked on those so it does not make sense to buy one of them if a model for a few bucks more come with the maps. Also this may be a stupid question but what is the difference between the basemap and a topo map?
  7. I am getting conflicting results searching around. Do the Garmin GPS units come with maps or do you have to buy them? Also are they locked to the GPS you buy or can you transfer them to a new unit if you upgrade?
  8. I have heard good things about these units. Funny thing there is a $200 price difference and on the Garmin site when I goto compare the two there is very little difference listed between the two. Other than size, weight, battery the only other two differences listed is the 60GSX has serial connection and built in memory card. Are these the only 2 features for $200 or is Garmins site leaving something out?
  9. So I just got into Geocaching using my iPhone 3GS which works pretty well. The only issue is when I get under tree cover it seems to lose its signal and jump around. The other day I spent 30 min. walking around when I sure with a more accurate unit it would have went much quicker. I am looking for something that will give me much greater accuracy. I dont necessary need the ability to save discriptions or be able to upload field notes from the GPS as my iPhone can handle that. I would like the ability to upload from my computer so I dont have to type in manually. A compass would be a nice feature as well. Any suggestions?
