  1. Thanks CR! Much appreciated! I always get a bit lost in the forums, so this helps a lot!
  2. Hi there fellow cachers, My name is Kelly, aka ShibuyaCrow. I'm a cartography student here in YYC and am currently in production of a non-profit pamphlet that is in need of some Nose Hill flare. I'm seeking out donation photos of Nose Hill scenery, flora, fauna, and explorers; and after noticing some awesome photography from the loggers of caches at Nose Hill Park, thought to send out a request to the community. This pamphlet project is again, non-profit. I am putting in the time, research, and resources into this project to donate to several low-income groups here in YYC. I need the photography to make this more attractive, there's limited time/resources, and I want to do this legitimately: consequently, I need some help with the photography end of it. Non current photos are acceptable; I'm just looking for images that will help show off the highlights of our awesome park. Any and all help with this would be appreciated, even if just passing this request onto someone you think would have some photos to contribute! If you think you can help, please feel free to contact me back here, or via kellyd.fischer@gmail.com Thanks you again and have fun caching!
  3. I disagree with this entirely. A part of what makes Geocaching alluring to many people is it's affordability. It's an almost free game. As someone who is growing increasingly frustrated with the new map system (I find it buggy, laggy, and very difficult to 'see' the area of interest I'm trying to focus on), what am I supposed to do? Stop caching when I get frustrated and inable to 'lock onto' caches of interest because I can't afford the membership? THATS a GREAT way to encourage new members into the community. Summary: I do NOT like the new map system, but making something that's almost unreadable as the only thing that non-subscribers can access is NOT the answer. Everyone adds to this community. By limiting the non-PM's accessibility you limit a large portion of those who help make the game what it is.
  4. Nice... So, instead of EVERYONE getting to enjoy the map and service, only the people who can afford it should get access to easily readable information. A part of this game that makes it alluring is that it's almost free. Many cachers I know are low income and this is an alternate form of affodable entertainment. Get off your high horse.
  5. Hi, I sent out my first geocoin months ago at a local cache, and someone as per normal picked it up and registered finding it... and that's it. I haven't heard anything from them about the coin since. No movement, no replacement, nothing. It's my first personal geocoin, so I'm not sure what to do in this scenario. I want it to keep moving. Do I contact the person who registered finding it? do I shut up and mourn the fact that my $20 for the coin is down the drain without it having gone anywhere? I'm a student, so that's a touch of a hard pill to swallow for me. Community input would be great, I'm kind of confused.
  6. I've found a couple caches recently that needs maintenance (ie: water got into the note book bag) and registered my find as "needs maintenance" but I've lost count, and am unsure if logging it as NM counts towards the caches I've found. There's a big difference between needs maintenance as in isn't present, and needs maintenance as in needs maintenance! Can you blame me for being confused? As a newby I rely and am very keen for the site to automatically keep track of my cache counts, but I don't think it's registering my NM-finds towards my cache count. If so: THAT SUCKS! Help! Insight would be awesome. PS: Should I just register the cache as "found" and then email the cache creator?
  7. I hope they post it soon... I made sure to go caching today. Mostly because of the souvienier... But northernpenguin has a point. Better to have logged and lost than to have never cached at all. I got to explore a park I haven't gone to in forever, relearn my roads a bit, and eat some awesome wild saskatoon berries! Oh, not to mention log 2 caches

  9. OH. Genius! I use Evernote, but I think it's the same idea that you're talking about! I'll give it a shot!
  10. Wow these are beautiful! I'm stopping by a local store to check out their coins tomorrow, but if I don't buy any from them I'll be ordering one from you!
  11. Hi there, I don't have an iPhone, but I do have an iTouch. What I'm wanting to do is go paperless on my iTouch to buddy up with my garmin gps. The idea being use the itouch when I'm in wifi area to download (?) or focus in on the Caches I want to hunt, and then use my GPS to find them. Thus going paperless, but still having the info for each cache on hand on my iTouch. Does this idea seem do-able? Any app recommendations? I'm investigating this idea as I want to know if it's worth the $$'s for the app. Being a student every dollar counts.
  12. Hi there, I'm new to the game but catching on quick, it's super enjoyable! One thing I want to find out is where do I go to keep an eye out for the newest caches located in my area? I always seem to be finding the really old ones, and I'm keen to strive for some new ones. Any help? is there a search by newly posted function? thx Kelly
