  1. The picture is not great at all. I took a friend out for his first cache today. We found a local detective had discovered the cache while looking for some evidenced when a nearby gas station was robbed. Rather then taking the cache or something he simply signed it and returned it. Anyone else ever found something like that on a log? http://i.imgur.com/pnd28.jpg
  2. I have an underwater cache like I have a small brick tied to the hook on the lid. I have it tossed 15 feet or so out in a pond. The rope you pull it in on is hid about 1 foot underwater off shore. Its not very big but works for a log. Local cachers seem to enjoy it for the most part. I live in an area where this pond will freeze though so it will be inactive at times of year. Been out about a month so far and still dry.
  3. Someone was very kind to you. Hopefully you will be able to pass it one to someone else one day
  4. I'm a smart phone cacher. I love using my Blackberry for caching. I've found for the most part the GPS is pretty good. And I love being able to download caches right to the phone when I'm on the go and write my log right from the device after the find. However I still think my PM is well worth it. I want to support the hub for this game I enjoy and PQ's are handy.
  5. I have less then 50 finds but have recently hid my first cache. I was very careful in reading and understanding the rules and guidelines. I placed it very near where I work (like less then 5 mins walking) so it would be easy for me to keep an eye on. I even placed the cache out for a good bit of time before listing just to see how it would hold up to the weather. (turns out I had to do some minor work on it!) Checked and double checked my cords. Had a FTF something like 4 hours after it was listed and a second find the same day. So really as others have said it just boils down to the person. I personally am glad that there is not a 100 find limit. I've been caching for a bit now but just don't do it as fast as some. I don't think that means I can't maintain a few good hides.
  6. For the most part I like Blackstar. My Blackberry is my only GPS unit. It allows pretty easy paperless caching for me. The GPS is not perfect but does a pretty good job of getting me within + or - 10 feet of GZ most of the time. I load up .gpx files and get all the hints, and logs on the unit. Then if I'm someplace I have good phone coverage I can even right my log and upload it on the phones browser. Works well enough for me.
  7. Not been at it very long. However I recently got a FTF that was loaded with six dollar cash wash coins. Took one as the note said to but I'm sure I'll end up just putting it in another one
