  1. Make sure you note that the cache started out with quality swag, and encourage the finders to keep it that way. Put chipped or broken beads or other worthless, useless items in the cache as the only swag.
  2. Not to worry, you'll never see this on any of my cache pages. I enjoy putting out caches that people like, but wouldn't consider soliciting for a favorite point. However, I don't think the analogy of a waitress asking for a tip is quite right. I think that would be more along the lines of a CO emailing and asking for a favorite point. I think it's more akin to having a credit card bill given to you with a "suggested tip" listed on it. Of course, I am also annoyed by those too.
  3. I have 7 and 8 year old daughters who love geocoins. If I bought a grab bag is there any way I can request coins that would appeal to little girls (ie "cutsie" coins)? Not a problem! Great! Email sent.

  5. This is a spin-off of another topic I recently posted here. I saw that someone had posted in their cache description a note asking people to give their cache a favorite if they liked it. I had never seen this before in any caches that i had found and wasn't sure what to think about it. Does it abuse the system by soliciting for favorites, or is it just a reminder that favorites can be awarded to great caches? I wouldn't include this in my own cache pages, even though I love getting favorites, but I'm not sure how I would feel about giving a favorite point to someone who asked for one in their cache description. What are your thoughts?
  6. Adding myself to the interested list in case this ever gets produced. Awesome looking coin!
  7. The price at geocoinstore also includes the new version of Chris's Tempting the Fates coin made to be packaged with his book and available only at Geocoin Store when you get the new book. Too bad I missed that info. I would have ordered from there in order to get the coin with it. Any way to order the coin separately?
  8. Wow, if this ever happens I want one as well!
  9. Any word yet on whether you have any extras to sell? I have a daughter's birthday coming up soon and she would love to get one of these; she's kind of a turtle freak!
  10. Ordered. I've been thinking about having a personal geocoin made so this book is very timely! I tried to order from Geocoinstore.com first but they wanted $41 shipped. I ended up buying mine from geosurvivalgear.com as it was only $33.50 shipped.
  11. Porpoise...I see what you did there! No purpose really. I actually had a theory that the people who frequent the forums might have a higher Favorite ratio than non-forum visiting cachers. I could be wrong though. That's a pretty solid start for that cache! Care to share which cache in the ccc thread you used for your inspiration?
  12. Wow, this thread really blew up in your face. I bet you didn't expect people to have such an explosive reaction to your cache idea, did you? How much did you have to shell out to build that cache anyway? Do people's reactions to your cache torpedo your desire to put this cache out still, or can you just blow them off? I hate to drop this grenade on you, but it does look like a bomb to me as well.
  13. Of the same puzzle box was in two different places, it's either fr sale somewhere or the plans are on the Internet somewhere. Does anyone have any more info about that puzzle? It sounds like something I need!
  14. I was reading this thread and someone suggested contacting a forum member who has a lot of favorites to get ideas on creative hides. It got me wondering, how many favorites do people's caches have? I know it varies between caches so what is the average of all your caches? I'm sure everyone know how to figure it out, but just in case add up the total favorites of all your caches, then divide by the total number of caches.
  15. Clearly he was a geocacher and understood that he was going to be finding 20 key holder caches with wet soggy logs in the near future. I'd be giving the OP dirty looks too!
  16. I'm in for one! Hope shipping it to me doesn't break the bank!
  17. We have recently started collecting geocoins so plan to see more of me on this forum! Added our name to the list and removed the ones that have already received the box. Sure looks like fun! I expect to receive this sometime in 2014. I hope I got the correct list. 18. I spotted a geocache while barreling down a road at 45 mph one time. We were camping, and on our way out and had just left the camping area and were on the backroads. As we were driving, I noticed a piece of tupperware sitting on top of a barrier on the side of the road. I told my wife, "I think we just passed a geocache!" I then turned the car around and went back. It turns out someone had found it and not replaced it as they should. We signed the log book, logged it online, and went on our way. Fun stuff!
  19. I've done a few of Dayspring's caches, but haven't done the multi you're talking about. Next time we drive up to Seattle I'll have to make a point to do that one. I also appreciate that you didn't give any spoilers on how to complete the cache.
  20. Miami style just means that they encountered a face-eating zombie while out trying to find the cache...
  21. I also can't help but notice that the snippet of log you posted was from a short time period in 2006, and most of the logs are from cachers in Germany. Is this really a representative snip of the log, or did you grab this particular part because of so many sofa-logs? I'm guessing that someone in Germany during this time period found it, thought this was an okay way to log a "virtual" and passed it out to all of his friends to log as well. I could be wrong though. It's happened before!
  22. No they don't, and editing your pages is fine, but for a major change like this, I'd rather be on the safe side and let them know that you're doing it rather than have them think that you're trying to "slide something by" by changing it after it's been published. I guess since it isn't against the rules you certainly don't have to, but if a reviewer gets his panties in a bunch and gives you a hard time about it because you didn't submit it that way, it will be a lot of work to undo the damage. My thoughts anyway.
  23. What's the GC number for this cache? Sounds like an interesting one that I need to check out!
  24. I tried watching a few of the videos, and honestly they did not capture my attention at all. Camera work made me feel like I was on a roller coaster, commentary was bland, and you both pronounce caching wrong (there's no t), although not all the time, which is strange. They also aren't edited at all so there's long stretches of nothing happening.
  25. Clearly the correct thing to do here is cut all ties with your girlfriend. Today she wants her name on all your found geocaches, tomorrow it'll be your paychecks. Run! Seriously though if it were me I wouldn't change my name for a girlfriend. What happens when you break up? My wife and I cache under the same name but we rarely cache alone and we have cached together since our first find.
