  1. JBnW is correct. All maps were loaded from GPSFiledepot with no problems at all. Very detailed topos with a lot of POI's built in already.
  2. I just received my Vista HCx through Amazon. Let me try to help a little. I have the entire North East topo, and half of the country Icybus map on a 2G micro card with a little room to spare (I think I am around 1.7 with about 1700 map tiles) so I don't think you will have a problem.
  3. Any GSAK pro's out there wanna suggest another way??
  4. I think I have it figured out. In GSAK I loaded my PQ. Under Search, Filter, Other there is a box for cache types. I was able to click to the Other Box off (which I'm assuming the parking coords go under that icon). I was then able to load the actual caches onto my VISTA and then switch the filter back to just parking coords and load that onto my GARMIN NUVI. Is this the simplest way or am I totally going in the wrong direction?? Thanks for all the help. I am trying to get this figured out today as I am leaving for camp tomorrow morning.
  5. I'm sure I am missing something simple but if I click-off include additional child waypoints then send to my Vista I am still getting the parking and additional waypoints. I am trying to send all my waypoints at once and not limiting the number. I have a PQ for the 500 closest caches and I do not want to send them screen by screen. Not sure what is going on but if you can shed anymore light onto the situation I would greatly appreciate it.
  6. In GSAK I have my PQ loaded with all the caches and child waypoints. When click-off use defaults and click-off yes under include additional child waypoints my total number still stays the same. Do I need to click-on each geocahe and not child waypoint in order to get just my 500 caches???
  7. Actually, this is a better question. Just got my Vista HCx. Ran a PQ to get the 500 closest caches onto my unit. When I opened that PQ into GSAK it actually uploaded about 623 points as opposed to 500. I assume the extra waypoints are parking, etc... I sent everything to my Vista HCx. I am happy that I have the actual cache locations on my Vista but I would rather not have all of those other waypoints on it. I would prefer to have those extra parking waypoints in my Garmin Nuvi. I know how to delete the waypoints out of the Vista but my question is how do I get those parking waypoints into my nuvi 780? Is there a filter I need to turn on or hopefully something simple like that.
  8. I have a Garmin Nuvi that I use for driving. My question is how can I get just the parking coordinates into that GPS using GSAK??
  9. Another quick question about GSAK if I may. I have a Garmin Nuvi that I use for my road navigation and I would like to send the parking coordinates that some of the caches have to that GPS if I am able. How would I go about sending just the parking coordinates and not the actual cache coordinates??

    PQ?

Think I'm getting this all figured out now using GSAK. Another question that popped up is, how do I get rid of the caches that I have found (I mean out of my GPS unit, I don't need them anymore). I was going to create a bookmark of my favorite caches that I could find again if I had family visiting or something. I have a vista hcx.
  11. I did notice that but I would really like the size of the cache and the D/T and if I have enough room the hint. I just got my Vista HCx and didn't realize that the only way to have the GPS save a geocache as a geocache and not a waypoint is to create a PQ. Is that correct? I tried sending to GPS but all I got was a waypoint.
  12. Thats what I thought. Thanks for the input. Gotta get familiar with GSAK.
  13. I want to automatically set-up my software to download to my VISTA HCx the size, d/t, name and GC#. Can easyGPS do this automatically or am I looking at GSAK?? Thanks

    PQ?

Even though you would only see one cache there are two files there. Would that count against your total waypoint allotment??

    PQ?

Mite be borderline stupid but if I create a PQ 10 miles around a zip code and another PQ 20 miles around that same zip code and try to download them both to my GPS am I going to get alot of duplicate caches or does the GPS know not to download two of the same?
  16. You'll only get the standard waypoint with GC code and cache name. So I can edit waypoints in Mapsource, I know that but it kinda seems like a pain to go through waypoint by waypoint editing so I can see the size or hints. My question is can I tell EasyGPS to put in the comment field the name of the cache, size, d/t... or do I have to use GSAK???
  17. Being that I am a premium member, if I hit send to GPS from the cache page, does anybody know what information I will be able to view on a Vista HCx?? My is on the way, so I don't know.
  18. Thank you cliptwings. I thought I could use that but wasn't positive. I will have to give it a try.
  19. Thank you so much for that little string. It will help me so much. You said I could remove the dashes, can I also remove the commas or do I need those? Also, are you putting this in the cache name or description? I see that I can have up to 30 characters in the description and only 14 in the name. If it is possible I may just leave the cache name and number the same and maybe put some additional info. in the cache description if I can??
  20. I know the Vista is limited with how many characters I can put onto the unit but I would at least like the cache #, name, hint, size, and D/T if possible. Will GSAK do that without a macro?
  21. Does anybody know if there is a GSAK macro for the Vista HCx so I can get as much info. as possible onto the unit?
  22. Premium Member here I come. The PQ's are probably worth it in and of themselves.
  23. Say I wanted to find caches in the area that had travel bugs or coins, can GSAK do that? If so, how many times have you gone to a cache and not found the bug or coin do to somebody not logging properly?
  24. Vista HCx on its way. I was wondering when I download topo maps from gpsfiledepot do I need to have the microSD card in the actual GPS or can I just have the microSD card in my computer and download to it directly?? If I don't need the GPS I was going to try and download some topos this weekend because I will not have the GPS until Tuesday and I don't want to spend the whole day downloading maps if I can just get it over with this weekend. You have been a wonderful community over the past couple of weeks. Thanks for all the advice and guidance.
  25. Are these problems MAC related? I just ordered a Vista HCx so I don't know what version it will be but I am a little hesitant to update. I have a PC and have not found any poster that has had problems with updating there version on a PC. Anybody with a PC have these problems??
