Wie viele BM kennt Ihr, deren erklärtes Ziel es ist, 300 Filmdosen an einem Tag zu beschriften, und das tagelange? Die dafür sogar in die USA oder in ein französisches Kaff auf Urlaub fahren würden? Inzwischen geht der Trend in die Richtung, solcher Serien für ein - nennen wir es - Spezialpublikum PMO zu setzen, damit einfache BM nichts falsch machen - wie z.B. NM zu schreiben, wenn eine Dose weg ist, statt einfach zu loggen. So gesehen würde es mich nicht wundern, wenn statistisch gesehen die durchschnittliche Qualität von PMO-Caches inzwischen schlechter wäre, als die für alle zugänglichen..

Interessehalber: Die Caches wie vieler Cachedatenbanken darf man derzeit anzeigen, wenn man das Groundspeak-API verwendet?

Es geht nicht nur um Basic Member. Groundspeak hat ein Monetarisierungs-Problem. Stell Dir vor, Du wärst BWLer und würdest feststellen, dass 5% Deiner Kunden 95% Deiner Ressourcen verbrauchen, und nicht mehr dafür zahlen, als die anderen 95%. Du müsstest etwas dagegen tun. Etwas, das die 95% gar nicht mitbekommen, wie z.B. bei der Suche nur mehr 1000 Ergebnisse ausgeben. Vielleicht verbessert man die Monetarisierung, ohne dass es zu sehr auffällt. Dass auch die Basic Member aggressiver "angeworben" werden, ist nur ein Nebeneffekt.. Und wegen "Keine Owner, kein GC": Das ist eine Entwicklung, die sich erst langfristig in den Quartalszahlen abbildet. Das ist uninteressant.

Dann wäre für Dich jeder Cache in meinen Breiten T5, weil wenn im Winter 2 Meter Schnee auf der Dose liegen brauchst Du eine Schaufel? Die T-Wertung ist für die Zeit zu wählen, an der der Owner annimmt, dass vernunftbegabte Cacher die Dose suchen gehen werden. Also weder im Wintersturm, noch während des Hochwassers, etc. "Spezialisten" wird es immer geben - und wenn wir für die die T-Wertung setzen, dann ..

What do you think Groundspeak can do against that? The Facebook user is posting letters and numbers, no names of travel bugs, no pictures, nothing Groundspeak could claim the intellectual property for. Ruining the game is no copyright infringement.

Funny idea, I love it. Especially when the cache is listed in more than one cache database. So some cachers do have the code days before the cache is published on geocaching.com Then the FTF goes to the cacher who enters the code first after publish - must be fun (to watch - don't forget to buy Popcorn)

www.geocaching.com/play/map is a 404 for me - but it doesn't matter because I won't use the new map at all - I never do searches. The ability of the old map to be used with hundreds of different special interest maps is essential to me.

Summarizing: According to the actual rules Monsterbox is right, and placing the question mark not more than 2 miles away from the final stage can be stupid misleading (e.g. in cases where the start of a cache is more than 1000 miles away from the question mark).

To fulfil Monsterbox' requirements you have to: Mark the cache as Multi Use the "Field Puzzle" and "Special tool required" (mobile phone with Internet access) attributes put the questions into a Tupperware box at Stage 1 and you are fine with the regulations Edit: There is no rule preventing you from putting the same questions into Stage 1 and the cache description..

You identified the problem. A 4" mobile phone display is no 24" desktop monitor and the same UI on both of them is useless. Large companies like Microsoft totally failed in bringing the same interface to all devices - but it's Groundspeak's right to repeat the errors made by others.
