  1. My recommendation: DON'T DO IT until she likes you other wise she may go running away screaming "NERD ALERT!!" all the way home.
  2. I would still like to see a PQ where you could specify a benchmark as the type of cache. Mickey Mousing around with other websites doesn't seem like the way I want to spend my time. I'd really like to use a PQ, download it into GSAK and be on my way. Member feature only maybe ? or an additional nominal fee ? You can not run a PQ for benchmarks. However you can download all benchmarks by county and put them in GSAK. I then download to my GPSr and pocket pc. http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ds_archive.prl
  3. I would like to see an attribute for historic areas. I travel a lot and historic caches would be the kind I would want to visit. How about a big H for the icon?
  4. I have seen them in caches. I will not pick them up or "discover' them because they are not coins.
  5. A few months ago the closest cache to me was 100 miles. Now I have only 24 within 50 miles of me. (There are a total of 684 caches within 50 mile of me.) Today a new cache showed up 5.1 miles away, that is the closest.
  6. Look at the satellite photo on Google earth. It my show you all you need to find the cache.
  7. I have used a palm but not a pocket pc. Both work just fine. Use whatever you are most comfortable in using.
  8. I'll wear 3 different types of foot wear. Crocs in towns hiking boots on easy trails hunting boots on rough stuff Both the hiking and hunting boots have gortex. Hiking boots or shoes are great for most trails. Hunting boots have more ankle support then hiking boots and I like that while crossing loose rocks, steep terrain and on longer hikes. They are heaver but that is something I am willing to accept. Two brands I really like are Danner and Rocky. Danner or more expensive but you do get what you pay for, great quality! Rocky are light and very comfortable.
  9. The weekend after I purchased my first 60 I went canoeing. It was under warranty so I tested it. I put it in the pocket of my life jacket and swam down a number of rapids. It worked fine.
  10. No, but non-stop talking about micros will kill the forum.
  11. I am new to hunting benchmarks. I have read some discriptions of benchmarks and they have a number of "reference and azimuth marks" Do all of those need to be found in order to log the benchmark as found? Edit: Bad English
  12. I really liked my set. I am looking forward to the second half. I only hope he throws in a battle in the western theater. (Pea Ridge, Westport, Mine Creek)
  13. Commercial coin…..Tracking Time and GCC Benchmark Geocaching Association Coin….SEPAG State Coin…..Pennsylvania and Kentucky Individual Coin…..Bad Andy Country…..Czech Republic Others: Rhode Island, Nevada, Prague and Illinois PS. Thanks to the two who mentioned my coin.
  14. I hate micros at this point because so few are any good.
  15. I think you stated that very well and I bet most cachers agree with your point of view.
  16. I have US Topo. It does give detailed streets but all are named and it does not use them for auto routing. When you auto route it only uses the main highways.
  17. TB are to travel, take it.
  18. My recommendation is getting either a palm or pocket pc. I have used both and they both work great for caching. Buy the one you will cry over the least WHEN you break or lose it.
  19. I would recommend the following: 1. Become a premium member of GC.com (if you are not already) 2. Get GSAK. Life will be so much easier with those 2 things first. Because you can run PQs as a premium member and load what you want into your GPSr using GSAK. Then get a PDA of your choice so you have the cache pages in your pocket.
  20. I am waiting for the following coins to be MADE and trackable: Oregon Washington Missouri New Hampshire Maine West Virginia Virginia With those I will have a coin from every state I have found a cache.
  21. I wish I knew what scripts were. Maybe it would be helpful.
  22. I know you are frustrated but you have been honest and upfront with the problems and I appreciate it. I'll bet everyone else is as well. I don't doubt you will get the problem fixed. I will have no problems buying coins from you again.
