Cointest-Survival Footbal 2010- TRIPLE THE FUN!
goosefraba1 replied to rickctroop13's topic in Trackables
Does anybody know when the picks start.... need to mark it on my calendar. -
I don't really think that either of those would fit on a coin. Maybe try one of bluedeuce's shorter suggestions. Plus.... the second one wouldn't actually be a quote if you are paraphrasing. What about on the back putting Knowledge. Kindliness. Courage. That would simple, small, and I think that it would get the point across.

I like the idea of the coin being shaped. I would suggest writing a short summary of the general philosophy of humanism. It seems to me that you want this to be educational... And that would be the best approach I think. If AHA is going to help fund the project, they will probably want to approve of whatever message you put on the reverse side. So... You might want to sit down and write a short description and send it to them. Another idea for the reverse could be a humanist quote. Another thing that you will need to consider is the size of the coin. The larger the coin, the larger the space on the back to write. Keep in mind the larger the coin, the higher the price to produce. Also, where will the tracking number be placed? Some coins the number is on the back along with "track at geocaching.com". This could also go on the front or the side of the coin.

Religious debate is off topic... debate as to what would/could be appropriate to put on a coin is on topic.

I really like the MAINE series across the top. Are they still available somewhere? That is the "Kayakerinme" set - he may have a few left, although they are from 2007, so may not. ~J What he said! That Maine set is freakin sweet... I love sets that snap together. I grew up with linkin' logs

Cointest-Survival Footbal 2010- TRIPLE THE FUN!

Hmmmm... figured the real OV would be out on this cointest.... or at least 20 or so others for that matter. I guess the NFL doesn't have the same appeal as March Madness. Oh well. I know I'm ready for some football! -
I didn't even think about the Darwin symbol.... That would make a pretty neat coin.... Or another cool design would be the small fish being eaten by the medium fish, being eaten by the large fish. I know that isn't the same idea.... Maybe I'm just rambling.

Mystery Coin: Close Encointer of the Third Kind: COINTACT

Maybe if enough of the children were all gathered in one spot we could get the mother ship to appear. We will bring ours. Your children? LMAO.... -
I do believe that a humanist coin would gain greater acceptance. It doesn't have the same negative connotation in this are (the bible belt) as the words atheism and darwinism.... and there is already a logo to go by. Might be the better option. I wonder if the AHA would contribute?

I don't know of any coins like you describe. It might be wise to put out a feeler to gauge how much interest there would be. Personally, I could see them being made for collecting... But as far as a coin like that moving around... I could see a lot of them being purposely lost or stolen in the states. Just a thought.

Welcome to the forums... The more you geocache, the more that you will realize that missing bugs is a mixture of A. theft B. improper logging of the bugs and C. forgetfulness. It's just part of the game... and as the game grows, so will the amount of traveling coins and bugs... and the amount of missing coins and bugs. It is just something that you have to accept. When I cache, I always go for the caches that interest me and the caches with the tbs and coins. I just think of it as a bonus if the tb or coin is actually in the cache.

Mwahaahaa... My eyes deceive me. Thanks for clarifying

Hey WSR ... What is at the base of the pyramid? I hadn't noticed that before.... Ot is that where the tracking number is blotted out?
