  1. I'm a fair weather hunter...so haven't checked the site in a while. When I got on this month, found many caches close to me no longer listed, assume they have been archived. Is there a way to search these archived caches to find out why they are archived? I had wanted to place a cache near my home, but there were too many other caches near me, that doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. I want to know if there was a problem with muggles, property owners, or weather (we had a near-glacial situation here last month). Where I'd like to place my cache would be on my property, but parking might have to happen at a local retail establishment...would like to know if this place has it out for geocaches...and the sneaky people they attract...
  2. If you don't mind answering ONE more question...I'm looking at a birthday present for my husband. Now that you've used both the GPSMAP and the Colorado, how do they stack up against each other? Which one will cause more frustration in the field? Which one will be easiest for the kids to use when my daughter whines, "Let me see daddy" and he hands it to her because he's spotted the cache and needs to get on hands and knees...?
  3. That sounds like my best bet. I did replace the battery on the Que, but it seems to want to hard reset fairly regularly so I lose all my waypoints (don't know how to get home) and it will flake out at the worst times. It seems to work like a champ in the cradle, so it will be my designated car navigator. That narrows down the hunt...look for a good handheld. And the debate continues, although it sseems the 60c(x) seems to win out. I'm not the excited about the Colorado if you can't get access to your database...that deleting thing bothers, I mean, I'm a packrat, but come on... Thanks a bunch!
  4. I've read a bit about the Magellan Crossover. Seems like it would work as an auto navigator, but how does it work as a cache sniffer?
  5. I am looking for a good GPS for the auto, turn by turn instructions, as much as I can get, and I can also take it off and geocache with it. I am directionally challenged (which makes geocaching a funny hobby to get involved in...let's just say I'm good at leading the REST of the team to finds) so an auto GPS is essential for me. I have a Garmin IQue now, but it is flaking out on me, and not good for geocaching (hard to see in the sun, haven't found the right program to geocache with accuracy, and my motherboard is giving out). So I'm looking for a good GPS I can use in the car, then take off and traipse in the woods for a while... Any good options out there?
  6. I'm purchasing some older model GPS's on eBay so the kids can have their own and bought a Magellan Trailblazer...pretty low tech, 1997 version. It has an odd connector on the side but came with no cable or mount and can't seem to find a cable or mount for it. Anybody have anything that would work with it? Or know of a compatible cable or mount? Thanks!
