  1. TRL, I'm sorry to hear you are leaving the state.I had a great time hiking & searching for your caches. Stay well my friend, and keep on caching...Best of luck with the move....Cheers!!!
  2. Just wanted to say thank you guys for all your help on explaining this hi-tech product....When I take into count all the hours I spend outdoors in a year...I guess the price of this unit is very reasonable when it comes to my life....Since i can use this device when I'm hiking, trail running,kayaking,fly-fishing,boating,cycling,camping,and when i'm spending the day geocaching... BTW: I found two caches this week..Yeah no more Lull for me....
  3. OK, How About This One???? GCGN18 Old Glory Jr. - NJ Style http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/a36b0b...3e5d7d278aa.jpg
  4. Dittto...If NJ. Was a shall issue state like PA. And FL. On it’s concealed carry laws. Yes I would carry a side arm for protection in the woods. But since the laws in NJ. Don’t allow me, Guess my only resort is to find some hi-tec electronic device that will calm my mental state on the trail.....
  5. I like the specs of your unit Geobernd... since this was one of the typs of units I was looking at... Is it any good??? Does anybody know someone with this type of unit??? Thanks for your time in advance... The Navicom GPS Personal Locator unit features: Programmable GeoFence, battery saving sleep mode, USB port, 256K of flash memory, a data logger and unlimited GPS tracking. The Navicom GPS Personal Locator is available directly through Navicom with retail pricing around $489 plus a small unlimited usage fee. More information visit http://www.NOWTRAQ.com. Then I was looking at this unit one also... http://www.laipac.com/personal_locator_gps.htm this way the family can track my daily movements when i'm out caching, hiking, or cycling... Anybody want to share their opions on this unit??? Note: If i had this type of unit, i'm sure that my caching{Lull} wouldn't be so bad...I feal that if i had one of these units on me, I would feal safer on the longer hikes in the woods... BTW:The website for NOWTRAQ is down as I post it, Does that mean their service is also down???

  7. Wow.. is this price and information true I found??? The GPS Personal Locator will sell for $399.99, plus monthly service plans that are comparable to other mobile devices, like cell phones, or your Internet service. Guess I'll stick with a mirror method if they cost that much???Anybody see them for a lower price???
  8. Don't be picking on my Sparta bears...they haven't hurt anyone. Honestly, I now feel better knowing they haven't hurt anybody. But still till this day they are wild animals and I don't want to get close enough to find out. So for my own fear & safety, I'll refrain from walking in their natural habitat unless I have a few other people with me...One good scare in my life was enough thank you!!! But, If I had a dog like yours...I wouldn't mind them bears at all. BTW: Just look at that man who got attacked by that Mountain Lion in the news the other day. I hear people all the time saying they don't bother anyone. They are just big cats...And look what it did to him. So I guess I'll just use my own caution... Cache on my friend!!!!
  9. I'll be at the Camelback Inn, A JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Scottsdale in the spring. I was wondering if anybody has a list of caches for this area...Is their any on the Camelback hiking trail....
  10. Roger That!!!.... Before I would go caching day to day without any cares in the world, If I left any note or phone call it was so brief only saying “Gone Caching Today” So if I got into any trouble on the trail, like a slip, fall, or if one of the many Sparta bears decided that today was my unlucky day and it should pounce on me, I would of been left to die on the trail...Also on another note, When I was actively seeking FTF's, I made myself and vehicle an easy target for some muggle to do harm, since all he/she had to do is wait near the cache or parking lot, and I was it’s prey for the day... I don’t mean to alarm or scare anybody from this post. Heck, I'm sure some of you will get a good laugh from this,Since most people would remember me as a cacher of who never cared about safety. But now when i'm caching, I’m just being little more security cautious and safety minded these days.. And I'll say that's a good thing!!!
  11. The #1 reason for my geocaching lull is..... I now worry about my personal safety when I'm hiking/walking alone in the woods...
  12. Kev, this bike ride event you’re planning on sounds like a blast!!!! How many miles are you thinking about riding/caching for the day???? Also do you have a set pace the group will be riding at??? Edit: {Note, In Allamuchy NJ, Deer Park, Has some caches and trails for MTB's.. It also has some real easy single track, and some nice fire trails for the people who are still lacking skills....
  13. My own stats: TQ 16/71 BS 11/171 TRL 58/97 WOW!!! I need to get my rear in gear and start caching again, since the area near me is seeded well with caches that I never found...And in a few months them "Black Bears" will go into hibernation, and I will feel safe caching again
  14. Hello, I was wondering if any one cacher has found all of Briansnat's,Team Rampant Lion's and Tree Quest caches that they have placed for us cachers...I think this would make a great Challenge and was wondering if it happen already?
  15. Does anybody know if??? MD DNR (Department of Natural Resources) require a permit for the day when rock climbing the formations ???Does one need to call into any number, before going out climbing??? And I'm not talking about calling friends to let them know what your doing...
  16. Roger That!!! I hear you loud and clear...Let's pray that don't happen b/c it would give our geocaching community a big black eye..
  17. You have a very good point! I can’t wait to see all the live news media coverage on TV, when they catch a person on the tower, thinking he’s a jumper. But then again, maybe it’s not on the top of the tower?
  18. Wow, Thanks Brian!!! That was painless and for a good cause...
  19. Thanks for the info trailhound....I was thinking that also since it was a Monday, But most crow hunters use a calling device like a {Johnny Stewart}for calling in crows and that area dosent seem to be a great place that one would set up for crows. But then again, not all hunters hunt the same way:o(
  20. Just wanted to say, This cache XxBreak AwayxX (GCKGY3)is now removed from the woods as of today..We noticed continental drifter signed the log even when fleeing from gunshots. We feal since he was brave and took the time replacing our cache in a nice spot and signed our log book. He should have the right to log it as a find..Hope all agree with us...
  21. Please read this post for one of my caches!!! I'm wondering at this time if hunting is open in this section??? If not, Shouldn't this be reported to the NJ Fish&Game so they can patroll this section?? I would hate to have hikers & cachers run into poachers in the area.. Or, was the blast from the road construction going on Rt.206??? This is what a chacher stated!!! When I got to the parking area I wondered where the trail started this seemed to be a very residential spot. After a bit of a search and some common sense I found the green trail, I love these hidden trails.Made my way along and I guess I missed the white trail so when my gps showed that I needed to move up the hill I just scrambled up the slope and figured I'd bushwhack my way to the cache.Once on top I found an unmarked trail which led me right to the cache site.Nice spot and a freakishly well stocked cache.Suprised to be only second after a week of this cache being around.Took shotglass and left golfball bottle opener. As I was signing the log I heard gunshots pretty far off.As I made my way to the green trail they happened again this time much closer. The people were heading my way.Fortunatly I had a whistle with me and gave a few long blasts and I was able to shout my position to the "hunters"(Is anything in season now??)They acknowledged me and held off. They were pretty close but I never saw them.Thank god for the whistle that I took from a cache a few months back. Thanks for bringing me here and for the adventure.
  22. Archived. The cache owner has just logged in today (who knows, maybe because of private emails because of this situation), and found a cache 6 days ago. I think it would be perfectly acceptable to log a find for this one Edit: Assuming, of course, that you signed the logbook. Hey, That was my old cache that was missing when i archived it???I'm glad to see it found it's way home...Will pick it up soon, This way it's not Geolitter....
