  3. Great idea! TFTI (thanks for the idea ) Thanks! Anyone know about the certificates?
  4. Ok, Recently I have noticed a lot of people put special items for the FTF their cache.. Some people do certificates or pins.. etc.. What are some other things you can put in for a FTF? Also, where can you find these 'certificates' for the ftf??? Thanks!
  5. Just out of curiosity...Could you explain why those are bad ways to explain geocaching? I am trying to explain this to friends and i can't think of a good way to sum up geocaching...Any advice? Thanks!
  6. Ok thanks for the help! If you hide a rock cache, which you obviously don't hide in a tree or under a rock or whatever - you put it in plain sight so couldn't the cache easily be moved by a muggle or just kicked around ?
  7. hmm...good question.... i just bought the gps, put in the coordinates, and find the cache..=)
  8. Hi all! I currently own a garmin eTrex.. http://i00.twenga.com/p/54/00/15400vb.png It is pretty good but I would like something a little more.. Right now, I pretty much plug in the coordinates and it takes me pretty close but it ends up freaking out.. Telling me its 150ft north, then 25ft south...hmm I guess I would like to get something a little more exact and closer to the coordinates.. But I would not like to spend that much money.. I want something durable, rather cheap, and accurate... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!
  9. Oh and thank you everyone.. I appreciate the help!
  10. IF I bought one of those rocks (which I wouldn't... I've made every fake rock hide that I've put out, and there have been a few), I'd probably be tempted to say that its the one with the Groundspeak logo shamelessly embossed on top, just like all the other Groundspeak fake rocks they've found. Instead, take a match safe ($1 at Walmart) and some 2-part epoxy putty. Shape the putty around the match safe (being sure that the top will still unscrew!). Once its set, paint it with those stone fleck spray paints. That's one way of many to make a unique fake rock cache. Edited to say: Sorry... that was probably not the answer you were looking for, although it is the answer that I really wanted to give. To your question, I would say that it depends a lot on where you're hiding it. If you're hiding it in a pile of real rocks, you would probably be well advised to warn people that they will be looking for a fake rock in a rock pile (lots of people don't like needle-in-a-haystack hides like rockpile caches tend to be, though). If the fake rock is standing alone, it probably won't be that hard, so don't sweat it. Haha no problem, that is actually a very good idea rather than spending 20+ dollars for a ...rock
  11. This very very old woman walks up to me and says "what are you doing with that device?" And I said Oh I lost my cellphone.....and this helps me get it back...
  12. Hi all! If you buy one of the rock cache containers offered at the Groundspeak website, do you say on the cache description that it is a camouflage cache? Or do you make them search... I just see it very hard for people to try and find it because I dont see how many people check rocks..So, anyways, should you say this is a rock one? or let them find it? Any advice would be nice... Thanks!
  13. I just ordered some from vista print..I got 250 for free only had to pay shipping...Great cards with many designs ... thanks simpler for the idea
  14. OK I ended up going with one brand new called garmin etrex gps handhelp reciever it says "euro" in the description on ebay! IS THIS BAD???? thanks!
  15. Ok and I know this is going to be a really stupud question but #1. Will we be able to put in exact coordinates of the caches and be able to follow the gps easily right to the cache? #2. I am seeing three different eTrexs' - One that is yellow with just etrex on it, one that is yellow with etrex on it and a little globe on top of that and one that is blue and says etrex legend...which one is the best for me??? T Thank You SO much for your help!
  16. OK. I am just now starting geocaching and I need some help! I currently have a Garmin gpsMaps76 . This tracker is very hard for me to use and keeps saying "no signal". It does not work well in the woods and is meant for marine use. So, I want an inexpensive, durable, EASY TO USE, gps system that I can enter in coordinates easily and quickly head off to my destination. The main things I want this to be is EASY and Inexpensive.. Even ones made for children! Thanks so much and any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
