5 nuove cache e nessun avviso ai naviganti da parte di chi ha lanciato il topic? Mi sa che a quasta lodevole iniziativa la sua promotrice ha già inchiodato la cassa!

Quando ho cominciato a posare le mie prime caches, 2 anni fa, ho letto nelle guidelines che: - micro è meno di 1 dl - small è tra 1 dl e 1 l - regular è oltre 1 l - large è p. es. 5 galloni (circa 18 litri) quindi per stare sul sicuro oltre 20 l Ora, oltre alle classiche definizioni (Sizes micro: e.g. 35mm film canister or smaller; small: Holds only a small logbook and small items; regular: e.g. ammo box; large: e.g. 5-gallon bucket (about 20 liters) ho trovato queste indicazioni (http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=75): 'We would suggest that volumes up to 0.7 liters be listed as "Small", from 0.7 to 3.5 liters "Regular", and above 3.5 liters "Large".' Mmmh, non vorrei sembrare "precisino", ma la linea di separazione tra small e regular è abbastanza importante (vedo regular da mezzo litro e mi sembra pochino). Non che un valore sia meglio o peggio dell'altro, ma se fossimo tutti d'accordo su uno, 0,7 o 1 litro che sia, ci capiremmo meglio. La linea tra regular e large viene invece (purtroppo, secondo me) tirata in questione molto più raramente. Ma qui la differenza nelle indicazioni è enorme: 3,5 o 20 litri? Di nuovo, se ci fosse un valore condiviso da tutti, ci si intenderebbe meglio. Non apro qui la discussione sulle nano, che forse meriterebbero una categoria a parte invece di essere a volte micro, altre other, altre not chosen. Ma visto che le nano non è che le adori, preferisco approfondire la discussione sulle dimesioni delle regular: da 0,7/1 l a 3,5/20 l, che ne pensate?

A me quest'iniziativa ha suscitato prima curiosità, poi perplessità, viste le prime 2-3 challenge pubblicate, worldwide o in zona. Non c'entra il gps, non è una vera sfida (baciare una rana di gomma o fare una foto sul lungolago? boh!). Ne sono quindi poco attratto, ma seguirò l'evoluzione per vedere se verranno proposte cose interessanti. Se accadrà, bene, altrimenti niente, sarà una cosa a me inutile che continuerò ad ignorare senza farmi problemi. Mi piace la versatilità del geocaching e il fatto che ognuno ci trova quello che preferisce. Da parte mia ignoro già certi tipi di cache che non mi interessano. Chi mi obbliga?

Una buona idea! Chissà in pratica? Chi non vuole svelare nulla prima del tempo, chi "ci avevo già pensato anch'io tempo fa", chi lotta oltre che per gli FTF anche per gli FTP (first to place), chi si offende se qualcun altro pubblica qualcosa che aveva postato su questo forum. Vedremo, sono proprio curioso. Da parte mia, ho in giro una ventina di idee, ma faccio parte della prima categoria ;-) Non me la prendo se qualcuno mi soffia la location: a volte fa meglio di quello che avrei fatto io, altre volte ad aspettare la mia posa si rischia di diventar vecchi!

Haven't been around long have you? Didn't you ever heard of "releases", "upgrades", "new/beta versions" and so on? Did websites last unchanged forever? Don't worry, dude, if it will work, you will appreciate it, if not, I will have the same fun gecaching: life is wonderful.

I'm for. At least, give it a try and look at what happens, instead of arguing and counterarguing forever.

I know, the issue is not new. Putting on a new thread puts a bit more "demographic" pressure for a rating system. And it was suggested to me from Groudspeak customer service... Two little thoughts about that: - I think there are people out there that are scared by the possibility of bad judgement of their caches - The issue is since so long discussed that maybe it deserves a try: if it doesn't work, Groundspeak could simply shut it down after a review time. Hi! What do you think about my suggestion to introduce this new feature? I'm thinking of a Cache rating system, where the Cache finders can put their "liking" of the found Cache on a 5-Star rating system. Analog to the terrain and the difficulty rating systems, it could indicate how much the geocachers like a Cache. The current average could be shown on the listing with terrain and difficulty in the same manner. ***** Loved it! **** Liked it *** It's OK ** Nice, but could be better * Didn't like it Moreover, it could give rankings of the most beautiful caches, motivation and pride to the owners (to to more and their best), signal "problematic" caches and, by statistic analysis, give insights about the Cachers preferences (they like more Regular than Micro, or Mystery than Multi, etc). Then you could extent it showing for each "fount it" Log if one liked it or not, and do stats about what every cacher likes (I like my founded caches on avg. with 3.8 stars, but my preferee are Mystery Regular with an avg of 4.5 stars and so on). Tell us your opinion on that and let's share it with the Groundspeak guys!
