  1. HI, I saw your post and I refer to your point about active cachers which have inactive players who own them, I recently had the same conversation with my Husband about this and we both completely agree with you about how much of a shame it is that there currently is no way for Groundspeak to allow these caches to be adopted by cache owners who are local to the cache in need of saving to keep it going especially when it is a very popular cache and more so if it also is hidden in a very interesting geographical location. I have a fair amount of caches and all are hidden in places which we have found locally and only where they bring cachers to places which are rarely known of due to their forest locations, or special because of some other reason and we wanted to share the places with others. On the other hand, I also think that with the cache you have mentioned above and the sheer amount of FP's , I also think that in fairness the FP's for that cache would have to be reset, or somehow (if the original CO still had the Geocaching account, regardless of active status) being placed to them and not given to new owner upon adoption, this definitely would not be fair to others who maybe work hard to gain their FP's etc. There are a few CO's locally to me who like to throw a cache into a hedge or on a sign post etc, nothing fun about that in my opinion, even more frustratingly these caches are so poorly maintained and lots of reports of maintenance required, but nothing gets done for years!! these caches scattered about are blockers in my view, they stop others placing better caches in better places or even expanding their own series which might be close but are blocked by the inactive, or irregular CO's who fail to maintain their hides. sorry..... Rant over. My point is, I agree about the inactive players and how their caches should be able to be adopted out. Ok, that's really rant over now... Haley.
  2. Hi, my husband and I have set a few night caches and have developed very discreet during daytime but VERY reflective markers for night caching, we have made reflective ones of various colours and they are VERY REFLECTIVE, we have also made some which are UV and GLOW IN THE DARK, these are very well made and far better than the Fire tacks you mention as they are difficult to place as they need to be at the right angle to be seen and also easily spotted by non cachers in the daytime. We are going to be selling them on etsy soon but I thought I'd share incase you wanted to save money as the ones you've mentioned are VERY expensive and like double the price we will be.
  3. As keen cache owners who particularly enjoy setting Night caches and now have three published, we are desperately trying to find out who placed an epic night cache which has clearly been archived now but this evening by accident my hubby and I noticed a few good reflectors on some trees while we were doing another series, we were intrigued and so followed them and ended up having walked around 6 miles through all kinds of terrains and we eventually made it back to were we started at 2:30am FIVE hours following this epic trail knowing that there was no log to even sign. We are mad I know! But I wish I could find out who set this out and thank them for it as well as high five them for their efforts, its definitely not been active for a long time due to the sheer amount of growth where the markers send you, This cache starts in Harling Drive Road in Suffolk * Roughly starts at: N052°27.669 E000°38.290.and takes you right by Grimes Graves Norfolk. If anyone knows who set this, or if anyone here knows where I am talking about and has done it in the past PLEASE can you let me know because this is a trail I enjoyed and maybe someone would be interested in taking it over as we definitely need more Night caches in Suffolk and Norfolk. Thank you in advance. TheRolphsUk
  4. So I have recently adopted a trail which had been in place for a long time, it was left to die and hardly anyone visited anymore most likely because the caches were never maintained. I have been there today (The caches are currently disabled by me) and I have removed all the caches all of which were either broken, or soaking wet logs. I have some fantastic ideas and thought maybe archiving the current trail and resetting my own (I have today got all new GPS coordinations for where I would hide mine) this would hopefully encouarge past visitors to come back again? I know I won't get anything reviewed until the reviewers are back but that's good as it gives me time to get ready as I am making some very inventive custom caches. what would you do in this situation? Thank you
  5. That's correct and they have now village signs and now the adventure lab! I mean how much time do these people have!?
  6. Ok so I have looked Into the rules and the only rule is that the phone box and post box must be able to be photographed together and be within 100" of each other. I have joined a facebook page now which is primarily about finding this type of series. Thank you all for the help or even bothering to comment!
  7. I have found 2 'A fine pair's which states the only rule is you should be able to take a picture of the pair, I did that but what do I do with this picture? Do I post it on the location? Nobody else has?
  8. Can someone please clear up a question regarding the rules about caches being buried completely under about 2 inches of soil and with no hint, only leaves the option of the whole GZ area being dug up to find it?? All the info I found states NO, but a fellow cacher who owns a few series said the rules recently changed and caches can be buried? This makes no sense to me? Can anyone settle this for me and tell me can you or can you not fully bury a cache which requires digging up? Thank you in advance.
  9. I have seen people saying that they got a notification of a new cache? Is there a way for me to set notifications so I know when new local caches are placed?
