  1. I got the m505 color in. I have it up and running paperless. All seems to be ok! So far I am very pleased with this unit. Thanks for your extra time, effort, and troubles in making me feel relaxed during my inquiries and throughout the transaction. -OpryStar
  2. I have been watching ebay, but wanted to check here to. Is anyone parting with an older Palm to use in paperless caching? I will consider all, but I am maily wanting a Palm IIIxe. Thanks, oprystar.
  3. Thanks Prime Suspect. That might work. But do you have the time to explain how to do this? I have been toying with it for a while and have not been able to get much accomplished. I have not even seen a POI screen, and how does it coordinate with the cache waypoint screen? can i just "page" to it? Also do you hand enter the POI info? Or copy and paste before the transfer to the GPS? Or is this an auto feature? Thanks, OpryStar
  4. Yes, It is the 60 CX. The 60 CSX was the only thing in the Garmin line that was "better". I didn't need the other two bells and whistles it had, so I got the 60 CX. I am way confused now. The point was to combine ultimate satellite reception, with paperless caching. The unit so far had done a GREAT job on staying locked on sats, even in heavy cover. But I keep finding my self going back to my Jeep, getting out my laptop, and pulling up the particular cache to read the description so I will have some idea as to what I am looking for. We were out of town caching in a new area. We had the 60 CX in hand, with cache waypoints downloaded into it. But on each cache we still didn't know what we were looking for, and when its the difference between an ammo box or a tiny Altoids tin, it does make a difference. Also when we first started, we were randomly looking for some type of a container, when we went back to look up the description, we found out it was a VIRTUAL, all we needed was a camera shot. Is there a unit out there, that lets me download the waypoints AND the page desccription? I thought I had seen a screen shot of this somewhere. Thanks, oprystar
  5. First the "deal" then on to my question: The "Deal" - I stopped by a Bass Pro Shop. They had the 60Cs for 349.00. By filling out a store credit card application, they dropped the price 10%, to $314.10. Then after the $50 Garmin rebate, the price will come down to $264.10. Not a bad price at all. They made it back up when I also got the City Navigator cd for another $119.00 though. The question: Learning the basics on the 60 Cs was pretty easy. I came from an Emap. I went caching over the Labor day weekend, and decided to go paperless, and just download the waypoints into my new 60Cs. Well that went ok, I was able to get them all downloaded. While I was out caching I realized how much I depended on the DESCRIPTIONS and in knowing what size CONTAINER from the site pages. I had none of this, all I had was a fancy box icon, and a set of waypoint cords. Is there a way to download the actuall description from the web page, so I can read the hide's info while out in the field? Thanks so much,... -OpryStar
  6. We live in southwest Georgia. We are going up to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We have already looked over the chaches in the Gatlinburg area for when we get there, but we are also interested in caching on the way up there. Is there a way of looking up caches along a particular travel route? Do I have to look up the many area codes that we would be going through, then sort through the individual caches in order to keep things close to the road we are traveling on?
  7. After much debate, I think I have narrowed my next purchase down to the Maggie eXplorist XL. It has the bells and whistles, but I am mostly sold on the 3.5" color screen. I would like to know of any pros or cons on this unit from people who own or use one, please. Thanks.
  8. Is the the 60csx the only receiver with the highly acclaimed and highly sensitive SiRF III receiver? What other units have this feature. I do agree on the benefits of better satellite lock, especially under tree coverage. I also agree on the larger screen (personally, the eTrex line and the explorist 100 - 600 line, most all seem just way too small), and I respect the need of a faster processor to make faster and more accurate algorithum calculations for closer real time location accuracy. Where would someone order a the 60csx for the very best price?
  9. Exclusive recommendations for the Garmin 60CSx. From what I understand, the Garmin 60CSx is the "bells and whistles" version of Garmin line. Surely all of those bells and whistles are not needed for geocaching? Or are they? What specifically esculates this unit to such a high recommnedation for geocaching. In contrast why prevents the other units from being best suited for geocaching? I know this is alot, but I am trying to make the best purchase for my needs. Thanks for any help.
  10. Of the vast array of new units currently avaialable, which unit would be best suited if ONLY used for geocaching? Data link would be nice, but do people really use it? Extreme accuaracy is a must, especially in trees, but also for finding caches and for putting out new ones. Battery life? Size and portability? Realiability? Customer Service support if needed? -oprystar
  11. I just looked on offroute.com. Their "WHAT'S NEW. WHAT'S HOT. WEEKLY DEALS. FEATURED PRODUCTS" price for the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx was $399.95 plus shipping. Is that a deal or no deal?
  12. Any willingness to separate items? I may be interested in the 400.
  13. I am getting too overwhelmed. I have an old Garmin eMap that I want to replace. I have looked at most of the Garmin products and most of the Magellan products, however I can not narrow my search down to a single one or two units. I am asking for any help from anyone who has been through this. I will be using the unit mostly for caching, so I want to be able to link it to my laptop, and I want great connectivity even under trees. I will also be using it on the road from to time, so I want a good base street map. I also prefer to step up to a color screen. And of course I want to be cost conscience. Any and all guidance is welcomed.
  14. Went to WalMart.com. They are 99.98 on there, plus shipping I would think. Sounds like you got a good price.
