  1. What is the condition of the unit? Do you have any photos? Darren
  2. Our site is now LIVE! CedarCreekGeocachers.com Event Cache: Cedar Creek Geocachers Meat-n-Greet And it's time for another get-together for everyone anywhere near the Cedar Creek Lake area...or in Tyler....how about in East Texas...or even DFW...okay, anywhere in Texas...heck, if you're in the United States, you're invited...okay, okay, if you geocache and live anywhere on Earth you're welcome to attend. And no, if you live on the Moon, Mars, or anywhere else in this solar system, you are NOT invited! 3pm Sharp at the Coordinates listed above! While certainly NOT REQUIRED, we ask everyone attending to bring a cache container that is completed and "ready-to-hide". We will draw numbers to distribute the caches brought, and will work to setup a series of "Cedar Creek Geocachers" caches. Everyone that brings one can leave with one! More details will be at the event.
  3. We're hard at work setting up the new CedarCreekGeocachers.com site. We had our first event last month, and another one planned for Oct 3rd (waiting for it to be published). Domain is registered, logo is designed, work is proceeding on the site forum, details, etc.
  4. Well, working on setting up the CedarCreekGeocachers.com. We had our first event last month, and another one planned for Oct 3rd (waiting for it to be published). Domain is registered, logo is designed, work is proceeding on the site forum, details, etc.
  5. I'm very interested. Can you send me the photos for all 3? (me@darrenehlers.com)

You're right, I surrender. I'm doing it for all the wrong reasons...I guess I'll just quit geocaching. I guess it's not the all inclusive sport I thought, and I'm obviously all wrong for it. Sorry for making an obviously stupid and ignorant suggestion. I won't waste any more of anyone's time here in the forums. I quit.

I can definitely understand that. Just thought an option for this would be nice. Just really surprised me when I sent a URL to my father...and he wasn't going to create an account just to be able to see my logs and photos (and yes, maybe even my "stack of graphs / charts / stats").

Your "Profile" really comes no where close to showing what Caching is all about! Have your peep's log onto the Geo Site and check out the getting started, etc. etc. (Which can be done with out a account) This will give a better over view of caching, than a stack of graphs / charts / stats / etc. You are correct, but the enticement for other family members (such as parents, etc) to look at the site is to see what their kids and grand-kids are doing...THEN, if they are enticed, they will read more about it. But still, the initial enticement is specifics about their relatives. And apparently, my profile page is different then everyone else's. When I view my profile, there are 5 "tabs" across the top: "Profile|Geocaches|Trackables|Gallery|BookmarkLists". The "stack of graphs / charts / stats" is only 1/5 (or 20%) of my profile. I would like my family to be able to read my logs...the photos of my family....my trackables, etc... Fine, if I delete my "stack of graphs / charts / stats" that everyone believes somehow makes me not a real geocacher, THEN can I get my profile viewable by my relatives?? Sorry, but this is absolutely ridiculous. And I can understand some wanting their profile to not be public...so, an option/checkbox/etc would be nice....maybe even a "private" url that I could give out.

You know, the condescending attitude is a major turn-off. I sure hope new people just looking into Geocaching don't see your posts in this threat and get turned off. Who was it that made you the keeper of what is "geocaching" and what isn't? I believe geocaching is different to many people. For me, it's spending time with my kids and my kids get excited by seeing their stats. Just because that is not what GC is to you, doesn't invalidate my or my families opinions, feelings and goals. And what is geocaching to you? If it's nothing about stats, then why not just setup a blog and not bother with logging your finds? Seems that just because I have some stats, somehow that means that its "all about the stats"....when did I say that? I would just like a way for my family and friends (non-geocachers) to see my GC profile...do see what caches I have found, read my logs, see my photos related to those logs...and to see how much fun geocaching can be. How about just not being so hostile to people with different opinions and thoughts?

Yes, I know I can do that, and most definitely will...but when I sent the link to my father and he emailed back that he wasn't going to create an account just to see my profile... And I might add, my profile isn't just the stats page that I use, but includes multiple tabs with my caches, trackables, gallery, etc. These all combine to make my "profile" and I'd like this to be available to others...even if it was just an optional checkbox. And my "stats", to my left-brain thinking, IS geocaching...whereas flask's "tunes" details and hobbies have little to do with geocaching...if I want to list my music preferences and hobbies, I'll post it on my facebook or myspace page. And before anyone thinks I'm attacking flask, I'm not...I feel that geocaching doesn't have to mean the same to everyone and I would never put someone down just because geocaching means something different to them....and I'm sure flask didn't mean to sound demeaning at all...just expressing his opinion. Is there a reason profiles are not accessible unless the viewer has a GC account and is logged in? In discussions with family and friends, I'd like to be able to just send them a link to view my profile (and see what this GC'ng is all about)...but they won't create an account just to see my profile. Darren
  12. I started by looking to send these in to Gazelle.com a place that buys old gear. they quoted $39 for the 600 and $32 for the Meridian. They cover the shipping as well. In addition to the units, I have both street and topo software for the 600, extra chargers etc.. You can have all the above for $75, plus shipping. I'm looking for one for my daughter for her birthday (she's dying to get a GPS receiver). If not already sold, I'd love to grab them.
  13. I haven't done anything like this directly, but would love to help out. Just email me to darren@ehlersconsulting.net...
