  1. I logged a cache that I found but forgot to add the jeep travel bug that I placed in the cache. I have been trying to go back and log it but I can't seem to figure out how. If I try to edit the page on the log where I made my entry there is no way to add a travel bug. Where can I do this? The actual travel bug page options don't seem to fit what I am trying to do. 2. I am torn between buying the 60cs or the 76 cs. I like the fact that the 76 has more memory, but like the geocaching feature of the 60. Is the geocaching feature of value or is it just a basic way to track caches. For the $50 difference, I would sure like the extra memory, but since I am buying it for geocaching should I stick to the 60cs for the geocaching features? Crabby Lady
  3. One point to bring up is that fact that the owner of the cache may not have the most accurate gpsr. Thus your very accurate gpsr will bring you, very accurately, to the wrong place. IMHO Crabby Lady
  4. I am really in a quandry about which unit to buy. The 60cs has the geocaching feature. Is that really worthwhile, or is just a bare minimum gadget? Does GSAK allow me to do what I want without that feature? I really like the 76cs, but since it doesn't have the geocaching feature, and since geocaching is the reason I am updating my gps, I wonder if having more memory overshadows the geocaching feature. What are your feelings out there? Crabby Lady PS thanks for the info on the 276 c. I guess that one is out for now.
  5. I was looking at GPS's today and was set on the 76cs until I saw the Garmin276c. Has anyone used the 276c for geocaching and can you load geocaches like you can in the 76C? I already own a chartplotter on my boat , so I wouldn't need to buy a BlueChart., but the cost is quite a bit more. The updating of the screen is far superior too. Crabby Lady
  6. Thanks to everyone for their replies. I guess I still will go with the 76cs as soon as I sell my other GPS. As long as there is a good chance the cable will work, I can still connect it to my laptop and use Street Atlas in the car. That screen is much easier to see than a small gps unit. If all else fails, I can still use my trusty III + in the car and the 76 while out geocaching. It's more important to know where I am when geocaching than when I am in the car. LOL Crabby Lady
  7. It is better to ask forgiveness than ask permission. I used my GPSr on Spirit and I think Delta. Had it on the window ledge and no one made any comments. Never thought to ask for permission. LOL Crabby Lady
  8. I have a Garmin III + and am thinking about upgrading to the Garmin 76cs mapping gpsr. I have a serial cable that connects my III+ to my laptop and the cigarette lighter. I also have an external magnetic mount antenna. Does anyone know if these items are compatible with the 76cs? I would hate to have to spend the money to upgrade these things too. Also what would I gain by connecting the 76cs to a pda?. I have a Palm Tungsten 2 and I have DeLorme Handheld Street Atlas 2005. ( I also have the DeLorme Bluetooth logger which I am selling on EBay because I don't like it). Crabby Lady
  9. While learning about geocaching and searching the web, I came upon a site/page that has a list of virtual caches you can find. For example, you can take your picture with your GPS on a street with your name or you can take your picture with a lion statue or any other item assigned by the poster. For the life of me I can't find that site anywhere. Can anyone help?
  10. OK, what did I do wrong. Why isn't the picture showing up? I have it in my profile
  11. Working on my avatar, and want to see how it looks. Any comments? (That is if I did it right and it shows up. LOL)
  12. I have a Tungsten T2 PDA and would like to up grade my GPS. I currently have a Garmin III which I use with my laptop with Street Atlas. I find the map on the Garmin itself is very hard to see. Does anyone have a T2, and if so, is the DeLorme software easy to see on the PDA! I am torn between upgrading to a Garmin 5 or going with the Earthmate.
  13. Thanks "guys". Putting the time seems like a good idea.
  14. Bummer, Just when I got the hang of it!
  15. Sorry for the misinformation. I was so nervous about finding the cache I guess I never opened the entire paper. At the other end of the paper were the entries! I went back today and added my entry to the cache. Thanks for all your help. Isn't it obvious I am a newbie? LOL
  16. Hi everyone. I just found my first geocache today. I had gone out with my GPS a few weeks ago and found the area, but hadn't a clue what I was looking for. Today I had a few minutes to spare and went back to the site and actually found the cache. It was a camera film canister size container with geocaching markings. Inside was a blank sheet of paper. My questions are: 1) what type of things should I write on the paper and should I leave something in the container for the next person? I checked the posting about this geocache and it says it was found as early as yesterday, yet nothing was written on the paper. Thanks for your help. Just as a side note, I belonged to the United States Power Squadrons and was involved in their geodetic survey marker program. We helped the govt find all the benchmarks and other geodetic markers. It was lots of fun and geochashing is very similar. Look forward to finding more!
