  1. Niether do I, but i do read my mail wherever I am. Yes i did notice and .............I have something in my eye.
  2. great excuse that one! ....... I should try that one some time.
  3. Making a log on your cache does not mean you have to drop everything in your real life to promptly take care of a cache? I'm sure this is what Deci has said more than once now.
  4. I always take time to put the cache back just as it was .... unless it was too exposed. Then I will hunt around GZ looking for something to cover it better. But then I am a 'SHE' not a 'HE' and that makes me perfect!
  5. It take two tics to take the picture. The resizing, uploading then inserting them in my nice long logs are done when i'm home in front of the laptop with a glass of red wine in my hand!
  6. I was protraying becoming a Geocacher was a steep curve? ... wow! ... was I? I was explaining that i still felt like newbie, that I still had a lot to learn ...........compared to members on this forum with 7 1/2 year experience. I never once said it was rocket science? Gosh!
  7. I have just up-graded from the old Tom Tom 500 (8 years old) to the XXL (£120) I don't know if it is just because i'm used to the Tom Tom, but i reckon you can't go wrong with it. I use it to get to as near to the cache GZ as I can (while caching), then use my Oregon to find the cache. I use it for work every day to get me to where i need to go while working in strange places, I upload all the speed camaras ... so I keep the points at bay, I even use it when i know where I'm going, but want to know if I will make it on time? Tom Tom for me ... and the XXL is a bargain right now ... although no bluetooth.
  8. I was so sure that was true when i first started hunting too! I must have DNF'ed about 10 caches, that were later logged by finders having no problem at all. I have been out caching with newbie friends, and I have stood there looking at a pile of 'obvious' Stick- o -flage and I'm wanting to scream: CAN'T YOU SEE THAT ... ARE YOU BLIND? Maybe those caches you seek have been moved, binned or disgarded by unknowers .... but i doubt it.
  9. I think you are being a tad too generous to yourself? Nearly 2 years as a member, 1344 finds and 156 hides. You are hardly a newbie! But I am still a newbie ..... some people have been doing this for 10 years! To me .... i still feel a newbie. I still struggle on some finds, I still make mistakes and I still need (and like) advice on caching .... thats why I read these forums. It would be so nice to be able to ask advice without being jumped on sometimes ... but i'm still reading and learning.
  10. I think that happens in every game/ hobby. I sometimes feel that we (the newbies) are treated as the outsiders by some old hands. But then, that is the way with most things. I don't tend to take any notice, it all goes over my head. And then ....... something that came across 'very silly' is then explained to me .... and I GET IT! Maybe if they tried to advise what we could do, instead of 'telling' us what we should do, it wouldn't feel like we were in court when posting on this forum?
  11. Now I do understand your point on that completely, I must admit I never saw it that way. Anyway, this morning (and yesterday) on the way to work in Liverpool I started out 2 hours earlier so i could do some of the new Deci drive-by's. I managed to find 7 yesterday and 5 today and I signed everyone even though I was quickly running out of time. So, even though I hate to admit it ...... you got to me! (I also DNF'ed 3 (I always log my DNF's)
  12. I log quite enough DNF's when I don't find them thank you!
  13. Looks like I upset a few cO's on this here forum ...... Sighs... I'm not hearing that old lament: 'We all play the game our own way, they are only cheating themselves'. I sign the log on 98% of my find, on the other 2% ... i'm cheating myself!
  14. But I did find it, there it is in my hands in the pic i uploaded So I did find it? Good job it's just a game then ... as you say. But ...but ... i take lovely picture! Thing is, I have another life other than caching (as much as I wished I didn't) And when I have say: 3 hours free to do a trail, but spend far longer than expected trying to find a cache (I don't like giving up you see, I like to 'FIND' them.) Then i see I am quickly running out of time .... but i can't just jump back in the Jeep (because I'm half way round the trail) so I run to the next cache and on finding it (or not, according to you) I take a picture! This is the way I play the game. I don't armchair cache, I don't log a find if I didn't find, I'm geocaching MY way! Feel free to delete any of my logs if I didn't sign the log ... oh and delete my lovely pictures too (If I'm ever round your way caching)
  15. Yup! ... me too. Did it the other day then all was well again, now again I don't know what caches I have done on my route to work tomorrow, so gave up!
  16. I wrote a GreaseMonkey script a couple of months ago which counts how many caches there are listed on the page. Normally this will be 20 but if a cache is logged twice it will say 19. So,viewing your list of finds http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?ul=Wilburii I just clicked 'Next' until my counter said 19 Then it was just a case of viewing each cache page until I found the one with two logs. Luckily it was the fourth or fifth one that I looked at If the duplicate had been quite early on it would have taken a little bit longer Mark Wow! I'm impressed! I actually have the same problem but don't know where to start looking for 4 double logs..... help?
  17. And he means it too! he checked on a couple of Micro's I found once and told me off for not signing Luckily i had taken a picture of them instead ..... well .... I was in a rush. I am terrible for doing that though, if there are loads of caches on a trail, (And time is running out) I take the box out of the bag (or just hold the micro) and take a pic. I know some people are sticklers for signing the log, but if I take a picture of the cache and its surroundings... then I found the cache. But i can see where Ant is coming from.... cause he does check the logs....(And the only CO i know personaly that does!) The only logs i delete are the ones that are logged twice .... then I send them an email saying: Don't worry if you see your log has been deleted, it is only because you logged it twice by mistake (it is easy done) It's a game and we all play it differently, but there is no need for abusive email! You tell em Ant.
  18. I agree and a very Useful response if you ask me...
  19. I always post in bold.. so ...... NO!
  20. In my view, it would not be theft if it was a genuine misunderstanding, but in principle it probably would become a theft if the taker subsequently became aware of the situation and failed to surrender the coin at that point. Rgds, Andy I'm sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick from the origianal post but: (quote) I've had a couple of cases recently where people have taken swag and left a geocoin.(un-quote) This led me to believe the thief took some swag and only left a geocoin? I would agree that if a cacher took a geocoin out of a cache knowing this coin is meant to be moved on, yet he/ she kept it? ....that would to me, be Theft. Soooo ... I'm sorry if I got it wrong but I thought this post was about a cacher that stole 'Swag' and left a only a 'Geocoin' instead of a whistle/ rubber/ broken toy? Sorry if I sound horrible but lets face it, not all cachers leave anything of more or equal value swag do they?
  21. Every post is worth it, thats what makes a good forum. we all have our own opinion on things....wording is EVERYTHING!
