  1. i happen to be a stickler for spelling and such as well. (i didnt ever catch this.) but i did happen to find the answer to your problem...
  2. not to start an off-topic tangent in my own thread or anything, but.... ? okay, on-topic... has anyone ever heard of perpetual motion? it's this crazy card game (sometimes referred to as "idiots delight") that can go on for hours... but i can stop the game after X rounds... i dont know. never mind. anyone else have anything to say before i lock this thing?
  3. okay, not reading any of the posts above, im just gonna blindpost and hope that no one says exactly what i am about to say: yeah, one thread would be nice. its kinda a pain in the butt when getting new posts to have a few on every page that say congrats to so and so. getting rid of them would be nice. downside... this means that the people will get less attention. another separate thought... a separate chunk in the forums (like OT, cept for all) for milestones? but then again... to end this very bipolar post... it's not about the numbers, right?
  4. i have considered making several caches which require the finder to use a deck of cards and given directions (including how to "stack" the deck) to play a card game. at a certain point during that game, the cards will spell out the coordinates to the cache. i really would put out any of these caches... really i would... but its really tough to work backward from the solution to the beginning. anyone else have problems like this? has anyone else overcome problems like this? any tips or methods to try? any certain games to use? anyone even reading this?
  5. wow... new question... sooner or later, someone's gonna question why there's only twentysome responses, but it says eightyso'n'so...
  6. hm... thats strange... isnt the only way to the forums THROUGH your account at geocaching.com? anyway, i was wondering that too... i know one family who uses a collective account, but their son has posted some caches on his own. when you click on his username, it takes you to the family account profile. whats up with that? i have wanted to have a second profile, just for those demonic caches i may plant and want "someone else" to take credit for. how would i be able to link back the profile to my original like they did? i dont know... my thoughts are incoherent tonight.
  7. you're welcome. so back to that original topic... AS is gone to us non-subscribers, but not to you guys. wow, thats about the third time we've tried to get back to here. we cant stay on the starting topic to save our lives, even after someone tries to reguide us back. i think this thread's almost lockready, in fact. all in favor?
  8. nuff said. when you incorporate the whole phone-a-friend (hereafter refered to as paf), the game gets a whole new twist. you cant just go to a definite spot and place a cache. you have to be able to improvise a hiding location if a slipup occurs.
  9. i've got black piano keys... only problem is that i'm running out. i need another piano to smash! quickly!
  10. thats what i was thinking... and here's my solution... (1) cacher gives desired destination for next cache (2) phone-a-friend finds spot online, gives approximated coordinates (3) cacher puts those co-ords in clue (4) cacher goes to the coordinates, regardless of whether they exactly matched the desired location. one of the catches i forgot to mention was that you could not scout out ahead to find a good hiding spot (or get coordinates). you have to make the stuff up on the fly, or else the other team will catch up to you.
  11. when i was first getting interested in the whole geocaching phenomenom, my father told me about a game he used to play. it was called "go find it". him and his friends were split on two teams, and the first team had a half-hour headstart. they would ride their bikes across town, leaving clues (on pieces of paper) as to where to go to next. (like the first clue was "at the corner of 2nd and willow st." the other team would go to 2nd and willow, and look for a paper that said "in front of the school.", etc.) the clues could be hidden anywhere, so long as it wasnt illegal (like on private property) or so that it was accessible... granted, the searching team should be able to get to anything the hiding team hid. and they could go on, playing this perpetual scavenger hunt for hours or even days on end... yep, those were the good old days. that was then. this is now. just throwing this idea out there... what about tying in the gps and whatnot into a modern game of "go find it"? say about 10 people get together with their gps'rs, and break into two teams of five. also, the hiding team has a phone-a-friend at home, waiting to look up coordinates. the first team goes ahead and hides a film canister, containing the coordinates to the second location, which the phone-a-friend provided by looking online. so continues the process, until the cachers decide to go to a nice restaurant for some dinner and peanut butter pie. well... what do you guys think?
  12. if all else fails, use it for geocaching music... seriously, i have heard a good caching buddy with an ipod say things like "you know what? today's a good zydeco geocaching day." (*button) (music)
  13. all of a sudden, twenty new threads pop up... "is mint waxed dental floss in caches okay?"
  14. bah. benchmark - gum placed in strategic places to leave sticky spots on pants
  15. And yep, we ARE having fun! and yep, YOU are having fun!
  16. i feel obligated to add something every time i look at this thread. oh well. cito - where you sit when you play bingo
  17. you have a slight resemblance to paige davis... eh. never mind. but seriously, if a dentist cache were to be done, how would it work? i mean, yeah, just plant one outside the building, but come on... but what about those numbers/letters that correspond to the teeth? like isnt there some numbering/ordering system to teeth or something like that? or am i making that up? if there is something, you could get a nice puzzle cache out of it...
  18. yeah, i liked that too... something other than red and blue is nice. jeremy, ever thought of new color schemes for the board?
  19. hey, i have orthos... That explains it. You DO have a lot of appointments, then! once every month. sad thing is, i'm getting (the top half of) my braces off tomorrow... less caching opportunities. bah. makes me sad. back on topic though, yes, six of my caches were done on trips to the dentist... i realized this just the other day at one, at which i did three. does anyone have any trends of caching that they inadvertantly follow? i had planned these three caches, but i never considered the theme i had going... ... possible cache idea?
  20. BAH DOUBLE POSTING the internet hates me much
  21. interesting psychology... or not... when i voted, i voted for the phrase i thought i would be most likely to say. that was "of course". ("sure" was a close second.) like i said, or not.
  22. link! keep in mind, i'm a pretty new cacher. but seriously... climbing fences? i didnt know i could climb fences... especially in sandals...
  23. i know exactly what you mean... there are only two puzzle caches anywhere near me... and i planted one of them! then people come online and i see all these texas and colorado caches and i think to myself "dang, i wish i had a life..."
