  1. What point exactly does this poll make?
  2. Its my personal impression that, with regards to "where the money goes," it wasn't so much a problem with the topic, as with the way original poster thought he had a voice in his topic. I may, however, be wrong
  3. I agree. That it was a cheap shot, that is.
  4. Now, my intent is not to doubt you, but you understand I have no way of knowing, factually or medically whether what you say is true. BUT, assuming its true, that is one great post in response to some of the ones above. Pan
  5. Well, they might not be so quick to treat you as a child if you pay the membership fee.
  6. Since you chose to ingore this post in the previous thread, I'll post it again: You're trying to get me locked again, aren't you?
  7. I didn't miss that post. I appreciated it. Sorry I didn't say so sooner. But as thorough as your post was, it doesn't mean more people can't chime in. In fact, you even said in your post that you may have missed some expenses. Again, I appreciate the answer, it was one of the most helpful ones provided. Pan
  8. First, I'll share my PM to CO Admin: Then I'll hope the discussion intended by the original poster (regardless of the personal opinion of the moderator) can continue. Don't I, as the original poster, have some say in the direction of the discussion. I mean, people can post whatever they want, of course, can't I (even if I'm not a paying member) nudge the topic back to the intent of the original post? As the original posted I have a close topic button too. Can't I use that if "I don't like the answers that am getting." Further, please take note that the question asked at the end of my original post clearly modified the other questions contained within the same post, namely: When a Member of Geocaching.com pays their $3.00 per month, or $30.00 per year, where does that money go? How much is (or do you think is) operating expenses, how much is profit? Who profits, if anyone? Obviously the final question of whether anyone had anything useful to say applied to the previous queries. Thanks, Pan
  9. Again, this was not meant to be a discussion of whether or not anyone thinks anyone else should get to know the answer to where the member fees go. I understand everyone has their opinion on what the business can keep to themselves, etc. It was meant as a discussion on where the fees actually go, or whether you have an idea, opinion, guess, etc. on where they go, and what percentage goes where. Thanks for all the input on whether I should not ask at all, or any other OT opinion, whether stated or intimated, but let's try to stay on topic. Thanks, Pan
  10. So, in answer to my original query, you're saying a definitive "no"?
  11. While I appreciate your opinion, I don't believe that it was particularly on topic. And while I disagree with some of what you've said, I don't feel this thread is the appropriate place to respond.
  12. Ouch. I imagine I wouldn't get much from the most appropriate place to look.
  13. I think the poster was far from drubbed, but I suppose people had fled for the hills for less. Scoobie, your avatar is disturbing to me in some undescribable way. I am shooting a laser into my eyes to prevent further viewing.
  14. If this needs to be moved to an appropriate place, I'll understand of course. Honestly, I didn't know exactly where to pose this question. I'm not looking for a cent by cent breakdown, and I question whether I'll get any useful answers whatsoever, but: When a Member of Geocaching.com pays their $3.00 per month, or $30.00 per year, where does that money go? How much is (or do you think is) operating expenses, how much is profit? Who profits, if anyone? I ask because I was a paying member back in the Charter times, when I was enthusiastic about GC.com and Groundspeak in general. Since those times of my youth I've become disillusioned about certain things. So, I've been on the fence about renewing my membership. This is just a little bit of information that may help me on my way to a decision. Anyone have anything useful to say? Thanks, Pan
  15. I think there should be a forum where only non-paying non-members can post.
  16. Wow, looks like someone has some parental supervision themselves. Well, at least it came from someone who has never posted anything sarcastic ... or off topic... Oh, wait, scratch that. Pan P.S. ju66l3r... have you experienced a bad moment with a laser pointer? You seem to take this topic awful seriously...
  17. Couldn't someone tear a page out of any logbook?
  18. I had an interesting experience with a laser pointer once. A friend of mine and I were stopped in traffic in the center of Concord, NH. My friend pointed a laser pointer he was playing with it at the back of a person riding past on a bicycle. It was cop. Who had another bicycle cop riding behind him. Now, my friend didn't know it was a cop at the time, he was just fooling around, pointing it at the bicylists. Well, the second cop swung around real quick and approached the vehicle on his bike. He gave us "the treatment" and sent us on our way, after threatening to arrest us for disorderly conduct, and saying we were lucky we didn't get shot. With that said, I wish my friend hadn't been old enought to buy the laser pointer that day. But, on the other hand, they sure are fun, and they sure can create some excitment. Ban them? I don't think so. Pan
  19. Wait, a dead skunk smells worse than death? Isn't that death smelling worse than death? I'm confused.
  20. And repetitive. Department of Redundancy Department
  21. Doesn't this thread belong in the Geocaching.com discussion?
  22. Rumor has it that AS has been moved to an OT forum that is only accessible by members. Not being a paying member any longer, I can't confirm the rumor.
  23. Um... that trip to Hawaii in an RV is going to be a LONG one.
