  1. You say that it's a new computer. Make sure that the drivers are Vista compatible.
  2. Thanks to Larry, GPSCity and FedEx I also had a copy of CN NA 2008 waiting when I got home today. Now here's a DVD with directions on how to get from anywhere to anywhere in north America. What it doesn't have directions for is how to get the shrink wrap off the darn disk holder! Once I took a knife to it the rest of the process was smooth. IDed the GPSr and unlocked without a problem (v3.5 firmware). Downloading of maps went without a hitch and was routing in no time. I have to hand it to GPSCity. They say order by 5 CT and they will ship it same day. I clicked submit at 4:50 and I had an e-mail in 15 minutes with a tracking number, Nice. Tom
  3. Is v2008 available as a DVD yet? I have looked on Tiger and Amazon and don't see it yet.
  4. If I were you I'd check some weather sites for info on reading a barometer. Make sure you don't move your GPSr for weather data! Elevation changes will invalidate your reads for weather in most cases.
  5. I wonder if this has to do with the compass shutting down while driving and relying on the GPS for direction. Then starting back when stopping with the GPSr in that big block of iron we call our cars? Tom
  6. The track log is stored in the memory so if the batteries die the tracklog is always stored. I have had mine several weeks now and while I haven't timed it the unit has been running well on the NiMh batteries I have used so far. I like the Kerkland brand AA batteries from Costco for Alkalines in digital equipment. Number 2 is that I don't have the $200 need for the Topo and City maps now that I have the unit. The base maps are just the major interstates. Tom
  7. Maybe they put the road in the wrong place
  8. Well it works now. Jeremy, Thanks so much for all your hard work. We'll be sure to raise a toast to you at the GeoJamboree this weekend.
  9. Is it really up? I am still getting a sad signal with the error page.
  10. Here is another long range guess of the weather for the weekend. Right now it calls for Sunny and 72. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast-weeke...=06810&metric=0
  11. I grew up in a town that is mostly cemetaries serving the NYC area. The Babe GC21C9 is just one of the famous people resting there. I think it might be neat to arange to have your own grave used as part of a puzzle cashe. You could use your birth year as part of the clue.
  12. While not "famous" I am the CEO of a large oil company. I enjoy encouraging people to hide Tupperware and other plastic containers (oil based products) in the woods and light posts. Then have people drive there cars and trucks to find them. Thanks All
  13. HHHMmmm 2090??? Gives new meaning to "You can have my GPSr when you pry it from my cold dead fingers."
  14. Nope, use a program like GSAK http://gsak.net/ and you'll be able to customize your searches to your hearts content.
