  1. Actually my muggle stepdaughter took the picture. I showed her the map of where I needed to go and we stopped by the dairy farm there on our way to her Christmas pageant at church. I told her just to take a close up of my hand to show the coords. Should I have her submit it?
  2. I was excited to find this category and even found a waymark that matched my geoname (87 32.832) in my hometown of Hohenwald. I live in Arizona now so while home on a visit I claimed the waymark only to realize that I needed another waymarker to make it legal. Anyone in middle TN wanting to work with me on this one let me know. I'd be happy to help with others if you need a partner in Arizona or western New Mexico.
  3. Yes, well, I will be back in Tucson a lot this summer as I have several appt. scheduled at the VA. And there are a lot of waymarks on campus. I'll get to you.
  4. I used to do a lot of Waymarking when I was living/teaching in southeast Asia. Not many geocaches to be had in that area back then. I hadn't done too much geocaching at the time any way so didn't realize that I could use the same trail name. Now I'm back in the US and have ramped up my caching. Lately I started doing more Waymarking and realized I don't get credit for my Waymarking in Asia because of the name difference. Is there a way I can transfer those over to my current geocaching profile so that it's all together?
  5. Sorry I will miss you. I already have a reservation in Cincinatti on the 23rd.
  6. I'm also driving from NY to the Giga. Plan to visit The Spot on 5/22. What day will you be going? I will be hiking solo.
  7. I'm flying into Buffalo on the 22 and heading straight to The Spot. What day are you visiting?
  8. Bought new at Gander Mountain in October. Used once but decided to go back to a Garmin. Will consider offers. Includes all software, download cable, all paperwork.
  9. I finally decided to go with a Delorme PN60 and am in the process of learning it. Seems that all GPSr's are pretty much IPX7 and all cachers have a preference and a story to tell about accidental water immersions and survival. My old legend was a gift from my husband (he died 6 1/2 years ago) during the time I was taking care of my mother in her final stages of cancer (hiking was my energy release) back in 2004. The legend took a swim in 2 lakes in Nashville, the Mekong river in Vietnam, the main river in downtown Bangkok (forget the name) and a quick dip in the creek at Davy Crocket park in Lawrenceburg, TN. It wasn't even IPX7 rated. If I get as good a service from the PN60 I will be very satisfied. Thanks for all the helpful input.
  10. I like to work puzzles on days when the weather is too ugly to get out and actually cache. I have a small notebook where I write my notes and solutions. Then if I'm in the area or planning a trip I consult my notes. I work many that I never hunt. Just a way to pass the time some days.
  11. The float it was attached to was me. Had it around my neck and rolled out for a swim forgetting I had it on me. This one has never floated but it has been dropped in various bodies of water on 3 continents and survived, that is until Lake Gunthersville. I can't knock it for that considering the number of years I got out of it. My first GPSr was a Map76 and I do like the big screen since my GPSr wasn't the only thing aging. The eyes really like a big screen and good backlighting.
  12. I'm sorry to post that my Garmin etrex died a watery death this week. I really can't complain since it did give me 7 good years of service. In fact I was surprised at my failure to rescue my dear companion since I have been able to do so in the past. Perhaps that was the problem: one too many dives. But life goes on and now I must find a new trail partner. Am getting by with cellphone app but seriously, how do folks live without a dedicated GPSr? I do a lot of trail caching and quite a bit of 5 terrains from my kayak and other types of boats. I'm looking for suggestions here from other water addicted cachers. Are there any units out there that are holding up well to the ocassional tip over and sudden rains? Looking to spend 300-400.
  13. Yes, I'm very interested in the Pythagoras geocoin. Would love to find the sliderule coin too. I'm also encouraging her to create a Dr. Math coin. Is the Pythagoras coin trackable? Activated?
  14. Now that she is retired my caching buddy Dr. Math is ready to get serious about caching. When she saw my geocoin that I carry and dip in caches when I travel she had to have one. So I'm looking for a math related geocoin that is not yet activated as a gift for her. Haven't been able to find anything on ebay or the provider sites. Any ideas?
  15. My Garmin Map76 has served me well as a traveling tool for 3 years now and as my geocaching companion since I started this insanity 2 months ago. I have a Sony UX 40 that is my lifeline so I don't want to take it caching, but I would like to try paperless caching. Does anyone know the very lowest requirements for a Palm that would work. I have an old 100 series gathering dust.
  16. Thanks for the info on the art work. Going off for a little rest in West Tennessee (maybe a stop or two for a cache along the way) but when I get back I will work up the artwork. Basically I want the USN emblem with my name (a while back women in the navy were called waves, hence my name) but I would like to maybe include an outline of TN. Will work on it. I'm glad to find you and read all the good about your services. I've been wanting to have a stamp made so I can do some letterboxing too. As for the grammar thing, sorry I even mentioned it. This is what happens when you overeducate - it's like a disease that makes you overly sensitive to bad grammar. I usually do better at ignoring it. But hey, it has made me a nice summer income proofreading grant packages.
  17. Went to your store and liked what I saw. I'm new to the sport but loving it. I want to order a stamp but paypal is not working right now. Was advised to try again later. Do I email you my image separately? Also, and this is just a pet peeve from an English teacher so don't take it seriously On your homepage the alot should be two words - a lot. There is no such word as alot.
