  1. I wear a geacaching.com lanyard when I'm in the OR to keep me from having to clip my ID badge onto my scrubs (I always have visions of it pinging off into someone's abdomen or something). I work in obstetrics so out patients are usually awake - I have had a couple of comments about it!
  2. I already told this story in another thread recently, but it's relevant... Our ONE SPECIAL CACHE was not anything extraordinary (a magnetic nano attached to a little footbridge) or anywhere interesting (it was by a reservoir a few miles from where we live). We'd attempted to find it a few times, but you know, I have a bit of a blind spot for nanos. Eventually I emailed the cache owner asking whether he could provide any additional hints and he kindly obliged. We eventually got around to going for it on our wedding day. We walked away from our own wedding party to go caching. I walked through mud in heels and a floor-length dress. It was awesome. My hubby followed the new clue and put his hand right on the cache. We were over the moon to finally see it! At that point I realised I didn't have a pen so we reluctantly replaced it, vowing to come back and log it another day. We returned after our honeymoon, pen in hand, only to discover that the cache had disappeared...
  3. That would be Yours Truly at Umma Gumma cafe in Amsterdam back in '08. Need an updated pic really as I actually have some hair these days!
  4. I'm a big fan of Llamasoft. Revenge Of The Mutant Camels was one of my very favourite games as a kid. A few years ago I really wanted to see what sort of thing Llamasoft were churning out these days (and, my word, Space Giraffe did not disappoint...) so ended up subscribing to Jeff Minter's blog. A couple of years ago he mentioned that he'd tried Geocaching and explained what it was all about. It instantly grabbed me as Something Fun To Do and I jumped on it right away!
  5. Not particularly far, but there was this one cache close to where I live. I'd been to it several times trying to find it, eventually resorting to getting a hint from the cache owner. The day we finally found it was our wedding day. Yes, we sneaked out of our own wedding party to go caching. I walked through mud in heels and a floor-length dress. My other half retrieved the cache and held it aloft triumphantly, we were ecstatic! Alas - in amongst making sure I had packed a sewing kit, spare stockings and all the other fun stuff a bride may need on her wedding day, I totally forgot to bring a pen. Could have cried. We went back after our honeymoon with pen in hand to log our find but it had been muggled...
  6. I'm sort of a semi-lurker. Posted a couple of times but spend hours reading topics here. Hello!
  7. Don't, they breed like rabbits. ... or hamsters? MrsB ...long as it's not Tribbles...
  8. Hello all I've just set my first TB free with the intention of it making its way to Fortaleza. Question: is that actually realistic? Are there enough people and/or caches in the area to make it a viable option, or should I maybe edit its mission statement to make its final destination a little less specific? Really hope this post works! Sorry for littering the forum with malfunctioning gubbins!
