  1. After today's site update, now when I view a cache instead of seeing the find logs scrolling in as required, I just have an HTML link "View Logbook" - click on this, and I just get a page saying there are no logs. The behaviour is the same using Firefox 10.0.1 and I.E. 9.0. Is this just me?
  2. And for another year running, I am admiring you from behind. I wonder, will the view improve in 2012?
  3. You'd need several Sundays to tackle all of poshrule's enjoyable series.
  4. I hope the series gets re-activated without too many problems, as it's certainly a challenge I'd enjoy doing in the summer months.
  5. Be careful in Dartmoor Park... "There be dragons there"..
  6. To continue this digression into writing implements, I use a Fisher Space Pen. It's advertised as being able to write underwater, although I haven't tested it to that extreme. Hasn't let me down yet.
  7. Oh, it's certainly Date --> Name. Anything else is just weird. The real controversy, however, is what format should the date take. I'm a DD/MM person myself (writing the year as well takes one or two seconds longer, so is not an efficient use of my caching time).
  8. This may seem silly, or sentimental perhaps, but that would feel like I was "stealing" the listing. That is when I will be forced into a decision.
  9. I support your actions, maintaining a cache that would otherwise die. I keep a watch on, and maintain as necessary, a simple little micro cache GC10G5N. It's a poignant story, and I wouldn't want the cache to disappear. The CO hasn't been around since April 2008. I have at times pondered whether I should log a "needs archived", and then create a new listing. However, I prefer to leave the listing as it is, so the original placer is known.
  10. The word "local" is there for a reason. There *are* "local" differences between different parts of England and Wales, and the "Local" Authorities must therefore have the freedom, within a national framework, to provide the best solutions for their "local"ity. That is why there can, and should be, variation.
  11. Third summer caching, first year I've been bitten (twice, on separate occasions).
  12. I wonder if he might have been encouraged to hang on the line longer if you had said "I fell off my bike."
  13. Thanks for the info on magnesium sulphate, a solution I may try next time I have the opportunity. I have a pot already, use it for the whitlows I usually get plagued with in the winter months.
  14. I'm a digger-outer. Whilst sometimes painful, ahh, the relief when you finally dig the critter out, that might have been bugging you for days.
  15. Hi SAM.T, thanks for reporting back. Here's what version 5.0 says: Change History Changes made from version 4.80 to 5.00: Modified default map trails to appear as dashed red lines Fixed issue where geocache icons would sometimes not draw on the map while using Garmin GB Discoverer™ maps
  16. That wasn't the case for me; I registered several free months (I have/had 4 Garmin units), and my renewal date was modified by the addition of a month on each occasion. My initial renewal was due in July, but now the site tells me (correctly) that renewal is due in October.
  17. I've clearly been slacking in August, allowing drsolly to catch me. Perhaps I should get a bike..
  18. It does seem rather coincidental that this crushing slowdown followed the update, don't you think? Nixay to the horoscope, but if you do lottery predictions..
  19. Are they interchangeable between versions, do you think? I can provide the files from a 400t, but I don't have a 300. A quick look suggests minor size differences (<1k) between the files on my 400t and my 550t.
  20. The GarminExport macro does lots of clever stuff and is very configurable. If you use GSAK and have a Garmin unit, it's well worth taking a look at it. Read the linked thread for info on what it can provide.
  21. Looks like a great place to visit. And yet the last log is just "TFTC". Oh well, at least it wasn't blank.
  22. One that came immediately to mind is LQ: Shropshire - - Lightspout Waterfall GC16NJG. Not a spectacular waterfall, but it's a splendid walk.
  23. Depending on what and where they are, cows have the capacity to make me apprehensive, nervous, or just plain scared. I think that's probably a good thing. When I can find a way around their field I take it. When I can't, I hope my apprehension/nervousness/fear mean I continue to choose correctly whether to venture into their territory or to back out. I know I wouldn't have the bravura to try the POOT option!
  24. Thanks for that info, I shall try it out. Or rather, I shall purchase one or two in the hope that I *don't* have to find out whether they are effective or not.
