  1. Try toggling the left-side panel of the large maps screen. Once you slide it out of view you should see the GME configuration icons in the bottom left-hand corner, and sliding the left-side panel back to visible moves the icons over for you.
  2. It worked fine for me a few months ago, but I had to use Firefox; Chrome refused to run the Garmin plugin, and IE broke.
  3. I'm a bit late to this party, but if Garmin uses an NPAPI plug-in you can tell Chrome to continue to allow these plug-ins should you wish to do so. 1. Open Chrome and browse to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi 2. Click the Enable NPAPI setting.
  4. I'm having problems with OS maps as well. In some areas, if I zoom out, I can get 1:50000 tiles, but it seems pretty random - perhaps they were cached? I can't get any 1:25000 tiles. I've checked on Bing Maps and the OS maps are still working fine there.
  5. You are now for another year, keep up the good work. Hope all goes well with baby. Nigel
  6. On 0.6.9, I'm experiencing a coordinates issue. Click on the i button to enable the location info tool. Click on any point on the map (it might help if it is near the E/W meridian line). When the coords are shown, they are currently showing East instead of West for West cordinates. Here's a pic showing the issue: Rutland Water is West, not East, of the meridian.
  7. The Oregon 6xx series allow an unlimited number of geocaches to be loaded. The trick they use is that whilst they let you load them all into the gizmo, they only show them in a search when you are within a certain (unknown to me) distance from them, even though - if you expand the gizmo's map enough- you can see them all on the map. If "home" is a distance away from where you were actually caching, then a search for the nearest geocaches on the unit might not bring up any results. Load up some more local geocaches, and see if they show up.
  8. I had a TB in the NW/SE TB race of 2010. The site is still live, as found by The Blorenges. The TB's all carried a short url link to it: bit.ly/nwse10
  9. Some of you may be aware of a long-running Groundspeak promotion where if you purchase a new Garmin GPSr, you can inform Groundspeak who will either give you a free one month's premium membership, or - if you are already a premium member - add one month to your current membership: Garmin/Groundspeak promotion Recently I purchased a Garmin nuvi, for in-car Satnav. This evening I wondered whether that too, given that it was a Garmin GPS device, would qualify me for this promotion, and I'm pleased to report that indeed it did.
  10. From my experience, these grey map screens seem to be the result of a failure of the browser to obtain information from the web servers providing the map data. It's always been a transient issue for me; either refreshing the pages concerned, or shutting down the browser for a while and starting again, seems to work OK. I don't think there's any connection to the GME extension.
  11. I did recently come across something I hadn't seen before, which I thought was neat. When creating a new cache, if any of your current hides have a Needs Maint. flag on them, you are informed of this, and advised to sort them out before submitting your new cache. You're not forced to, you can skip that part and continue, but I still thought it was a neat idea.
  12. I've had a look at the logs. Your TB was supposedly dropped by peakat, but the very next visitor to the Strictly Huntingdonshire cache, just two days later, stated it wasn't there. The most likely conclusion is that peakat dropped it somewhere else. Peakat found only two caches on 30th May, the first one was GC1AVW7: there's always a chance the TB was actually dropped there. It's had only three visits since. None mentioned a TB, but they may simply not have noticed it.
  13. Depends on what you use. I use the Oregon 450 for Wherigo's. As did I. Annoyingly, it's not included on Garmin's latest incarnation of the Oregon series (600's), which does not bode well.
  14. I've nearly done that.. more than once.
  15. kablooey is currently at 3669 days... and still streaking. Edit to add: I know this chap isn't a UK cacher, but just putting it out there to encourage (discourage?) you all . Personally I only managed 115 days before ennui/common sense [delete as appropriate] set in.
  16. When I'm stuck, I'm happy to accept hints and help; I had to do so on both Whitespace and Werewolf. Without the help of posts at the NE and NW forums I would probably have given up. My usual course of action when stuck is to contact the CO for help; describing what I've tried, what I think, whatever, and happily accepting any help they're willing to provide. But to answer your question - no, I don't just want to be given/find on the Interweb the solution. Edit to add: enjoyed finding/not finding hedgehogs this afternoon
  17. Use the source, Luke.. After that, if you get stuck with the later bits of the puzzle, you should find the nwcaching.co.uk forum very helpful.
  18. To augment the PQ vote, I'll also throw in the access privileges you get to the Groundspeak API, so you can use third-party programs like GSAK to their full advantage. If I were to revert to "normal" membership now, I'd feel hamstrung.
  19. That's a HUGE price to pay! Fortunately, it's closer to $30 a year; currently £24.99 in the UK, or £7.99 for three months.
  20. That's a great plot for a novel/film; perhaps you should assert copyright..
  21. I'll add my congrats, whilst hoping they'll both slow down a bit to give us johnny-come-latelys a chance to catch up
  22. I'm a bit of an HTC fan, having had no problems geocaching just using my HTC Desire, and then my HTC Sensation (the Desire's screen was too small for me to resist an upgrade to the Sensation). The only drawback is poor battery life, but I suspect that's a factor with most mobile phones. Neither will be top-end now, although they may still be pricey.
  23. Excellent, many thanks - they'll be dancing in the streets tonight!
  24. That's been the case for a while, since Google tightened up on extensions not listed in their store. See here for workarounds.
  25. Those Firefox folks use a script manager, Greasemonkey, to do the hard work. On Chrome, the scripts are handled internally. This means you need to edit the script directly, then re-load it. Go to the download page for GME, right-click on the green "Install" button and select "Save link as.." - save the file to a location of your choice (you've probably had to do this before, to install the extension in the first place). Once downloaded (a second or two) go to the location where you saved the file - it will be called 109145.user.js. RIGHT-click on it, and select "Open with..". Browse to Notepad, or Wordpad, or another text editor to open the file with. Once open, look for the line starting: function extendLeaflet() {\ then change the line below it: if( L.version >= 0.5 ) {\ to if( true ) {\ Save the file. Open Chrome, select Settings | Extensions. Drag the modified 109145.user.js onto the extensions page, as you no doubt did to install the script originally. This will update the currently installed script with the modified version, and everything should then work as it did before.
