  1. Thanks all, Pocket Queries works great to create .gpx collections of cache waypoints with the relavent cache info. Helps to carefully read the instructions, everything was in there.
  2. I must be missing something in setting up the Pocket Cache, as all I get are .loc files in that list. I have not received the .zip file via e-mail, just notification to go to the geocache.com/pocket web page. Does it take a day for the Pocket .gpx file in .zip form to appear?
  3. Is it possible to download multiple .gpx files? I can download individual .gpx files and multiple .loc files.
  4. I too have seen similar results, especially in any area with overhead vegatation. The number of satellites may drop to 4-5 while other units get 5+. I also noticed the cx needs six sats to get the DOP down to a useable range. Not sure what the cause is, but it makes the eTrek Legend cx almost useless for geocaching. Your video is accurate and replicates the experiences I have encountered when I compare it with an older GPS III+. There may be something that can be done in the firmware. I hope Garmin accepts the challenge.
  5. Do you remember where you saw the Battery-saver comments? I have a similar inaccuracy problem with the Garmin etrex Legend Cx.
  6. I too have experienced significant errors when using the Garmin Legend Cx. Recent use in forested or canyon locations gave errors of 20-40 feet compaired with a Garmin GPS III+. I suspect the patch antenna is low in gain or contributes to significant multipath error. Although possible for GPS units to interact with one another, it is highly unlikely for the LO's to cause a problem...unless one of the units does not meet FCC reradiation specs. I noted that moving the Cx about 5 feet could cause the location to change by 15 ftte or more and returning to the same spot does not always give a repeated reading.
  7. After recent geocaching experiences in Alaska, I am convinced the Cx has significant problems with antenna gain. In forested areas and near mountains I found the Cx was unable to receive sufficient sat vehicles to give a error circle less than 30-40 feet. My Garmin III+ would give error circles about 9-20 feet. I also experienced the 'jumps' in location of 12-20 feet when the Cx was moved an arms length. With a clear sky view, they both seem to perform equally well. I hope Garmin has a solution!
  8. I too am a new owner of a Legend Cx, having previously owned a Magellan ColorTrack. The display is much better than the Magellan and I like the screen navigation and text entry approaches better. I too have noticed a location error problem, the Cx seems to be 40-60 feet off form the cache locations. I have compared it with a Garmin GPS III, which is usually within 5 feet of a cache and the Cx is about 40 feet different. Another discovery is that the Cx will handle a 1 GB microSD, but the number of files that can be transfered is limited to about 2025 , leaving more than half of the card empty . I only have MapSource Topo US to compare with, so maybe the other data sets have fewer files for a given byte count. Another unusual feature is the data loads to the card erase the previous content...without a warning confirmation requestor .
