  1. We drove an hour and half from home to go get it!
  2. Just an update that my adopted coin, placed last year finally made it to it's destination this week!
  3. Looks like your X-Wife is having a blast with you. Keep the stories coming, we are enjoying them too!
  4. Okay, So I ended up buying the Dakota 10 and a new Nuvi 1300 for the car. I should be all set now for a few years!
  5. Who cares what your write as a log. Caching is the act of finding and signing, not digital logs. I enjoy the physical experience of finding the cache as opposed to the work of entering them as finds. That being said, if your cache is truly a great cache, I will reward with an excellent log entry.
  6. As a newer cacher, GPX'er, etc. I feel his pain. There is much room for improvement to help the novice, but like anything you learn to use the site. Just like that old Ford you had to pump the gas, wiggle the positive cable to the starter every once in a while just to start her.
  7. Seriosuly, I just read every post and about 9/10 through I looked at the date. I've never heard of HALF of these GPS models. Why might you ask? BECAUSE THE THREAD IS FROM 2004!!!!!
  8. I enjoy them when I find them out of state on trips where caching was not my primary goal.
  9. I think that people need to follow the wishes of the trackable's owner. If it is "collectible", then collect. If it is not, then please pass along. Just saying...
  10. Mine is going on 8 months now and still traveling! THANKS!
  11. I thought I read that the Nuvi 500 was waterproof and paperless. I ride off road, hike and fish a lot. I want to be able to bring up a map after I get home and see the exact route/distance I went. I can use my current NUVI on my bike and car even though the maps our outdated. Just weighing my options. Perhaps updating my NUVI 200 for car and motorcycle is best. I'd like to keep it under $300 but if the right unit does everything, ie. tracking my route, paperless GC, etc. then I may spring for it.
  12. So I have been researching but perhaps I don't understand the technology. I am looking at two scenarios. A NUVI that will work in my car, on my motorcycle, ATV and geocaching. Or keeping my old POS nuvi 200 and buying a handheld. I want my GPS to work for GC'ing but I would also like to see where I go when off ATV'ing. What GPS offers that option. Are there any NUVI's that do? I am having trouble seeing what certain GPS' do bye reading there descriptions. Are there any sites that decipher these things? Sorry for the dumb questions, GPS' are not my forte.
  13. It is common and there is an easy solution. Don't release trackables The uglier they are, The longer they will last I am sure. Why anyone collects trackables is beyond me anyways. Good luck!
  14. Point being is that "squatting" or being a "vagrant" is illegal. These tent cities are often a last ditch option for some, a life style for others. I can assure you that they are NOT the safest places and a friendly call to local LE might help others in the future.
  15. That cache needs archived and the police need to be notified.
  16. Crap, how do I un reply?
  17. Sometimes life gets busy and that "important" TB gets left in it's temporary home while you work, take care of kids etc. A friendly reminder E-Mail is all it takes sometimes to say, "Crap, I still have that!" and drop it at a nearby Cache. TB's are not necessarily an instant gratification item!
  18. Good luck with that prosecution. This is where the motto, "It's better to ask for forgiveness then to beg for permissions". Then again, depending on how big your county is, just move to the next and make sure at voting time you voice your opinion. Perhaps, more education on GeoCaching would help them.
  19. I would alert the local Police and or local Public Works Department so they can get that cleaned up so kids don't get hurt. Don't just archive it and hide the problem. Good job reporting
  20. Everyone is having coin troubles.... In due time I suspect
  21. I'll be honest and chime in that I never really dug deep into the rules. I understand that for FINDING a cache, I don't trespass, I don't keep trackables, I always sign the log, and I put the cache back better than I found it, ie. sealed and neat.... I guess I should read into them more
