  1. Well I finally figured it out. The coding for the List maps and the "View Map" was changed, while the "Browse map" is still using the old coding. The old coding used code.jquery.com to access jquery code. The new code no longer uses that, it now uses cdn.jsdelivr.net. Normally this would not be an issue, but I have Pi-hole running on a raspberrypi as my local DNS. This is a wonderful setup for blocking ADs and unwanted other stuff, but it - for whatever reason - blocked access to cdn.jsdelivr.net and this kept the maps from loading. Once I Whitelisted this site everything started working fine on my Windows 7 computer. Thanks and my apologies to everyone who tried to help! Marc
  2. One interesting (maybe) thing to note is that when I go to view a map, either from my lists or from "View Map" on the drop down I get a totally blank page. Even the green bar across the top is missing, it's not just the map.
  3. Yes, that did work. but this whole thing started because I use the "Map List" option in my Lists and that's NOT working. I went to the WebGL site and it showed the spinning cube and said my browser supports WebGL. My browser is up to date. Thanks for the suggestions. Marc
  4. My PC is from circa 2012. I tried to find the latest drivers for my Intel i7-3770 HD 4000 Graphics card and installed what I could find from Intel. But it did not make any difference. I do have a Windows 10 computer, it's just a lot of work to transfer and set up. But I may have to do that just for this.
  5. I've contacted Geocaching.com and received a reply. They are saying it's Windows 7, which if it is, then it's because of lazy programming on their end. (I've been programming since 1970). Other sites like GaiaGPS.com, AllTrails.com and TrailForks.com all work fine in my browser. Actually I've tried 3 different browsers and they all doing the same thing. Every day I flush cache and cookies from my browsers, so I know that's not part of the issue. It's just a little frustrating.
  6. When I select "View Larger Map" on a Geocache page I get a blank webpage. The same thing happens if I use "View Map" under the Play drop down menu. It also happens if I try to view a list map. I assume this is because I'm still running on Windows 7. Is this correct? Not very happy about this.
  7. The title basically says it all. I'd like search for a PUBLIC list with "Sugar Hill" in the name located in New Hampshire Thanks
  8. When I'm out caching (rural NH & VT), I always use the Geocaching app link to Google Maps to get to the next cache on my list. The problem is when the next cache is less than a mile away, Google maps will automatically use Walking mode and I can not figure out how to get back into Driving mode. I have an older phone running Android 10 and the GC App is version 9.39.0. There are no updates to install for Google Maps. I can force Google Maps into Driving Mode when I use it directly. If the GC App sends a destination to Google Maps that's more than a mile, then Google Maps uses Driving Mode, but when the App sends a destination that's less than a mile away to Google Maps, then Maps uses walking mode and there's no way that I have found to change the walking mode into the driving mode. As far as I can tell it's because of the way the GC App sends the request to Google Maps. If I use the Google Maps Driving Mode Widget then it will always show the route in driving mode, even when it's less than a tenth of a mile. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  9. @Atlas Cached Thanks, that's what I was looking for. As for Inreach, it's not something I need but it is something my wife wants. I don't know how familiar you are with the Etrex 32x, but I can use GSAK to download a cache list to it. Do you know if I could do the same with the 67(i)? Thanks again, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  10. Most of the time I'm just dealing with trees overhead, infrequently with a cliff or rock face nearby. Never Buildings or Bridges. I try and make allowance for nearby rock that would affect the signal, it's when I in the trees that I want better accuracy and consistency. It's when the Etrex is bouncing between 3 meters and 12 meters that I found most annoying.
  11. Thanks, that is helpful. If I may ask, how does the 67 compare to your smartphone for consistency? If I could have a consistent accuracy of +/- 2-3 meters, that would be a significant upgrade to my current Etrex 32x.
  12. Thanks, I will try turning off GLONASS, as I think it may be on. I do understand that there is a significant error because of my GPS and the CO's GPS and I try to take that into consideration. But it's the bouncing of my own GPS that is my concern going from 10 ft to 40 ft without my moving at all. This seems like a lot of error to add to everything else. I was reading a review at: https://hikingguy.com/hiking-gear/garmin-gpsmap-67i-review/ Well that spiked my interest, but it's only 1 review at the same time the guy seems pretty knowledgeable and trustworthy. So I'm not sure what to think. My wife would be very happy if I had something like InReach capabilities - standalone InReach ($300-$400) vs 67i ($600*) . Not to mention the substantial subscription costs. * I may be able to sell my Etrex 32X for about $150-$200, so the 67i would end up costing $400-$450. Well, this decision is going to take sometime, staying with the 32x or upgrading. In the meantime I've turned off GLONASS and lets see if that helps any. Thanks.
  13. Just another thread about which garmin to buy. I currently own an Etrex 32x. Most of the time it's no more accurate then my cheap smartphone. I do almost all my caching in the woods of NH and VT, and frequently my Etrex will show me within 10 ft of GZ and a minute later it will say 40 ft. This causes a lot of wandering around. I do understand that trees, cloud cover, nearby rockledges can affect the accuracy and consistency of the Etrex. What I'm interested in would the GPSMap67 be more accurate, i.e., less affected by the trees, clouds, etc? And, of course, would it be more accurate enough to justify the cost? That's subjective I know - for me if it could consistently be accurate within approx 5 meters (15 ft), without the bounce that I see on the Etrex then it would justify the cost. My second question has to do with the 67 vs 67i, I read somewhere (and cannot now find it) that the InReach antenna affected the accuracy of the device. Is this true? If so, how much? TIA, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  14. I do understand that, I'm not looking for that magnitude, just one or two more steps out. 5km/3mi would be great, 10km/5mi would be awesome, but no more than that. This could be a premium feature. I'm not looking to bog the servers done. The way I do it now (with GSAK) causes more of a strain on the servers then upping the cutoff one or two steps only.
  15. When I zoom out with "My Finds" filtered out, I get to 5 km/3 mi and all of a sudden all the caches are displayed (and the filter options are greyed out). I'm using the Geocaching Map display, but it doesn't seem to matter which map I select. This is on the website. It would be really helpful for me to be able to hides "My Finds" at this level, and possibly the next one (10 km/5 mi). Can I do this or is this a change required in the coding? Thanks, Marc
  16. Windows PC using Chrome (Vivaldi) browser. Recently (within the week) I've noticed a change in how the web-based Lists are working. "My Lists" works fine, after finding a number of caches in a list, "My Lists" will show that number under the column Geocaches Found, for instance, 5/30 and it will show the finds in the green bar just above this number. Now, when I go into a list, I use the down arrow next to the top checkbox on the left and select Found. It used to be that the 5 Found caches would be checked and displayed, but now it doesn't show or select any caches at all. This was an easy way to remove found caches from a list, but it no longer works. I now have to manually check each found cache to remove it from the list. Also the little icon is not being updated (see image). In this list "This is Vermont: Chittenden" should have a frowny face, i.e., a DNF; and Twin Bridges should have a smiley face, i.e., a Found. And in this case when I selected to just show the Found caches, the list was empty. Anyone else see this and can this be fixed please. Thanks, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  17. Thanks to all - I don't know why I didn't see the 3 dots. But I didn't know about Find Another Player in the Friends section. Again Thanks to all, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  18. A cacher who I have not had contact with before messaged me recently asking for help on a recent find I made (D3.5/T1.5). I wanted to check their Profile before replying, but do not know how to do that. On a cache page, the logs include a link to each cacher's profile page. But in the Message center there is no link. Not sure why that is, I'd think there would be one. Thanks for any help Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  19. Kunarion, Thanks, I hadn't thought about using Google Maps, that's definite a good and easy workaround, especially since I use Maps to drive to the cache. I use a combination of GSAK (Windows) and GDAK (Android) for most everything, except navigating to the cache. It's very easy to copy/post a waypoint into GSAK and then it will transfer to GDAK. Maybe I should start using GDAK to navigate too, then the Geocaching app would become almost superfluous. (unfortunately neither are being actively developed so at some point I may not be able to use one or both of them - that would be a major bummer as they offer so much more then the Geocaching apps and website). GDAK (Android) also has separate boxes for lat and long, but that's immaterial here as the original question was how to add a waypoint on my computer and transfer that new waypoint to my phone and the GSAK/GDAK combination work perfectly for that. Thanks, Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  20. When I create a waypoint in my android app, change the coordinates slightly (about 0.3 miles away), tap the checkmark - I see what you mean, but it only shows if you use the navigate icon under a waypoint, not on the map at the top of the cache listing. Interestingly (and weirdly) enough when I go back into waypoints, the new waypoint has been duplicated - there are now 2 of them (same title, same coords, but only one has the checkmark), every time I go out of waypoints, refresh the cache, and go back in there's another duplicated waypoint. I cannot for the life of think of a reason for it to work like this, but I could be wrong and there is a perfectly valid reason.
  21. Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont taken from "Where Eagles Dare (GC6W5ZD)"
  22. TriciaG, Actually, there is a way to do that: 1) On the Web App, copy the original Coords, replace with the new coords 2) On the Phone App create a new waypoint using the updated Primary coords 3) On the Web App, paste the original coords into the Primary coords. So that should work, now I just have to try it. Thanks. BTW, on my phone app (Android) I see 4 icons when I'm working with a waypoint, from left to right: Navigate - Check Mark - Edit - Delete Does anyone know what the Check Mark does? I've checked it but it doesn't make any difference. Marc (aka 51MarLin)
  23. When I've corrected Mystery Caches, only the corrected coords show on the phone app.
