  1. That's what I'm talking about...and have been for a couple of years now. Google Earth Maps & Satellite images (and much more) on your mobile device, anyone? (Screenshot from the iPhone Keynote address, not a Photoshop job)
  2. At first I was thinking I wouldn't bother watching an Icenrye episode (as cool as they are) when I'm out and about, but only because I have always enjoyed his shows in the cozy comfort of my palatial and well-appointed design studio. When I imagine sitting atop Cedar Butte with a thermos of coffee and my video iPod, though, it's suddenly starting to sound pretty darn cool. My first suggestion for video conversion is QuickTime Pro. Icenrye's videos are typically large files, so you'll need to play with the compression settings a bit. Good luck! Disclaimer: Pablo Mac is a semi-regular contributor to Icenrye's Geocaching Videozine.
  3. Wasn't there a recent thread on revisiting previous topics?
  4. So they can put a bandaid on top of the gauze pad? When did MS start listening to consumers?
  5. Upload the files as movies into YouTube or Google Video. While you're at it, you could add some cool sketchy video, too.
  6. I never did like "muggles." I'm going with the OP's term "Others," and will be using that term from now on, or until a better one comes along.

    Server down?

It's 6:20am PST, the site's up, and my pocket queries are loaded! Whoopie!

    This is always interesting:
  9. I would save an actual page as a PDF, edit it in Adobe Illustrator (or any professional PDF editor), and the resulting printout would look 100% authentic. That's the only way I can think of to deliver the level of quality this idea deserves.
  10. Two nights into my trip, and I've hardly seen a city more riddled with micros. So many of them are in places that easily hold larger containers!
  11. I'll be in Roseburg for some training the week of October 2-6, 2006, so if anybody's got some recommendations on caches to find and/or avoid, or, better yet, want to do any evening/night caching that week, let me know!
  12. This makes Phobias - Black Box #5 look like an LPC.
  13. My first PDA was a Palm Z22, and it worked fine. I paid $25 used. Then a friend offered me his Sony Clie for $100 and I couldn't refuse, especially when another friend offered me $40 for my Z22!
  14. When did we start earning smilies for hiding and helping to hide caches?
  15. Try: "Linn County, Oregon...a location crying for a geocache."
  16. Again, yes, because I was hoping there was a chance this cache wasn't close to other homes, I could at least drive by for a closer look. I also had no idea that every empty lot is private property, either. I thought some empty lots might actually be city or county property. I'm sure learning a lot here, and to think I was once a land surveyor in this very area! Thank you for your concerns, and for sharing your knowledge of Oregon from all the way across the country. Now please go and share with somebody else.
  17. It's evident from the cache description as it appears now, after my DNF log, but when it first came out it didn't say anything about being in someone's yard. I thought there was a chance the cache might be on one of the empty lots along that street, some distance from any homes. Exactly.
  18. Some people like them, but when I was a land surveyor I learned to walk with respect and caution on other peoples' property, even with explicit permission. Just because a cache owner may post words giving permission to walk into their yard to find a cache, that doesn't necessarily mean they have informed all of their neighbors about it. In my neighborhood, we watch out for each other, and I think a series of people walking into my yard (or the neighbors on either side!) would get on my friends' nerves. I respect my neighbors more than that. There are so many nice potential cache locations outside of subdivisions, so when my GPSr arrow swings into someone's yard, I:
  19. I have an idea for an attribute icon for caches near homes in residential neighborhoods: Remember: you saw it here first.
