Yes, these are great, I think I will get one, paint it metal grey in color, drill a hole in the end, run a red and black wire out the hole and place it near a railroad bridge... Sorry, but I think these are just a little too "terroristic" for the general population. Ammo cans are common. The public is used to seeing them ,but these ????? If placed in remote areas (non-terrorist target areas) then maybe.. but, seem lethal like amilitary shell casing or a dummy hand grenade.

I put out 8 (PlayMobil) Vikings and I stated that they all wanted to go home to Iceland. One was picked up moved 25 miles and has been in the hands of the same geocacher for months, since May 2005. I have sent him three emails, but he ( I assume) is still sitting on it. With the email, I offered that if the geocacher would mail it to me, I would appreciate it. Still not here. I guess it is gone... Of the other seven, one is outside of London and headed for Iceland. The others are all over North American. Each of the Vikings was a representative of one of the Texas Vikings. We like watching and see who was going to be first to get to Iceland. I think mine is in New Brunswick, Canada, Thorolfurs Hitchhikers

Puzzle Cache--where Do I Begin?
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Wide Eyed Wanderers's topic in General geocaching topics
Something I learned years ago, when we were doing the Treasure Hunt/ Road Rallies, with puzzles, is that the rank of letters by usage in the English Language is the following (if I am remembering it correctly) E T O N I S H E is used most, then T etc.... This has helped me various times solving puzzles.. Rick -
Ooops Geography should be: Geography Sorry...Rick

Also, a good way to get them to repair out of warranty units, is mention, that you work for Best Buy or REI or Oshmans and you sell GPS units. They will often repair things, without charge as courtesy. hehehhe

Pure Junk ,,, Why Leave It?
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Voigt54601's topic in General geocaching topics
I was on my way to a cache and I found hundreds of golf balls, just sitting on the ground in the open. All of them had this little red stripe around them ! Seriously, if the cache has junk in it, (in my opinion) then I might leave something or not, but I log it and go on. The game is the hunt, otherwise, what good would Waymarking or Virtuals be ? Be thankful you found it. Log it, log in on the web, say thanks. and move on. You are not the Cache Police or the Cache Auditor. Go find another cache. -

What Does Geocaching Mean To You
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Deliveryguy428's topic in General geocaching topics
I had a Powered Paraglider (big parachute with a fan on your back) I had just purchased and then was diagnosed with MS. And Im an old fart. 60 y/o two weeks ago. So I had to give up the PPG. Hated that, but, with geocaching, I can get out of the house with my daughters and grandson, I even have a geohound now. I can set my own pace and spend time with the girls and still have the excitment of the hunt and the puzzles. Years ago, when I lived in Mich. We used to do something similar, with clues in envelopes and run people all over town and then have a party afterwards. We always called them road rallies, but it was fun. I have incorporated some of my previous type of puzzles into geocaching. A nice walk in the woods with the dog and adult kids...great, just watch for gators.hehe.. -
Caution ! Heads Up !
One of the Texas Vikings replied to BoGoes's topic in General geocaching topics
And the animal wacko crap ! But, in all honesty, I kind of agree. I hate traps. Im afraid I would have to snap it or make it ineffective, if I found one. Just my .02 cents. I would hate to see my dog or any other dog or child in one. If they want to trap, then keep it on their land and post signs. What next, land mines ????? Fishing with dynamite ??? I used to hunt, but wised up (sorry hunters). But, if you want to hunt, then do it bare handed, now that would be class ! Shooting from 100 yards is much easier than grabbing a buck and wrestling him to the ground. -
What's The Best Glue Medium?
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Team Maple Leaf's topic in General geocaching topics
I usually glue camo burlap to my containers. I have used, ammo cans, plastic jars, plastic mailing tubes, all kinds of different substances. I used a hot glue gun to glue the camo on, and in some cases use it glue a ring on, so the cache can be tethered to a tree. I usually paint the plastic with krylon for plastic or regular krylon in the case of ammo cans etc. The hot glue works. I have had caches out over a year in the Texas sun, humidity and rain and I checked them earlier this week. Camo is still there and the glue is holding fine. Hot glue cheap, easy to use and a bonus of burning your fingers if you are not careful.... -
That is not quite as evil as the one, someone mentioned on here. They had a 5 gal water bottle (water cooler style) filled with 400 film containers. only 1 was the cache the rest were empty.. Now, that's really evil

Your Cache Hounds
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Wandering Bears's topic in General geocaching topics
Here is me and "Nissa" the wonder Cache Hound (sort of we wonder if she is a cache hound). The Second Pic is My son-in-law, Shane carrying her across "A Bridge too Far II" Cache. I got her from a shelter as a pup, a Chocolate Lab mix. -
Why Do You Hide A Cache?
One of the Texas Vikings replied to Alan2's topic in General geocaching topics
As I use the ammo out of the cans, during hunting season, I have all these ammo cans left over and I have to do something with them ! -

Using A Flashlight
One of the Texas Vikings replied to piscatore's topic in General geocaching topics
I used to do that kind of work. I can tell you, the first thing you look at, is the floor, with your flashlight. You do not turn on any lights. The flashlight does help you focus and search just what is in the beam. That way your eye does not become distracted by something else, in the room. Besides, if the lights were off, then the crime scene should not be changed by turning them on. After searching completely with your flashlight, then you turn on the lights and take in the whole scene. I like the CSI tank tops, too !.... hehehehehe -

One of the Texas Vikings replied to grueinthedark's topic in General geocaching topics
I'll second that... Not to take anyting away from El Diablo, But Wilderness Walker staffs are great. I have bought 8 of them for the Texas Vikings. They all come with a whistle and your name engraved on it... They are usually Hickory... All for around $17.00 ! -
Screen Protector
One of the Texas Vikings replied to ...Headless's topic in General geocaching topics
I go to the dollar store and buy 10 for a dollar. They are to fit different PDA's. It doesn't matter what kind of PDA they fit. I put one on my Garmin Vista, my PDA and even my digital watch. I then trim them with an Exacto. After a month or so, peel it off, toss it and put a new one on. My screen is just like it was when new. -
