  1. Have you tried stapling it to your dog ????? Im sorry. Just had to add that. I tried the saddle bags with Nissa the Wonder dog (choc Lab) and had the same problem. Switched to a protective vest for her and I tote the water and snacks...
  2. You mean like this ? I use camo burlap bought at Walmart. then hot glue it on. Works great. I do the same for ammo cans. I have gotten really good feedback, from people who have found them ! Rick
  3. interesting study.. but the presentation of the digital numbers "2:45" makes me think "two forty five", while an analog clock face would trigger "quarter o' three" in my brain.... wonder how they actually conducted the test? For me, it's 105 min after 1:00 !
  4. So, for example, if north is "12 o'clock", then "a quarter til 9" would be 290 degrees on your compass... Uh, that would be 270 degrees. No, it's quarter till on my compass !
  5. We started out as "The Texas Vikings" all 5 of us, plus two associates. Then we realized that some wanted to go out on their own, so we changed to: "One of the Texas Vikings" (me) "Two of the Texas Vikings" "Two other of the Texas Vikings" "M.I.L. (Mother-in-law of my daughter) of the Texas Vikings" Plus two associates, who don't get out much or log much. This works for us... If we all go together, then we log it, seperately, no matter which of us finds it. but when we go without the others, the we can still log it. BTW, we all use the same logo.. Kind of keeps it in the family.
  6. Carnivorous geocaches are not a problem in Houston, The gators eat them !!!!!
  7. Sorry, I thought that said: Geocaching with ESP..... I could use the help !
  8. We have plenty of wolves, bears, coyotes, moose and even a few cougars in the Upper Peninsula but those don't bother me. It's the ones you can't see that I'm worried about finding. We dont have those kind of critters in Houston, the gators eat them....
  9. Besides my handy walking stick, which I always take, I tie-wrapped a can of pepper spray in the holster to it. I have run across several feral dogs and would rather give them a little spray, than hit them with a stick. Generally we make so much noise bush whacking that all the critters run. Rick
  10. Maybe we should get the Geocaching Squad to blow up the bombs !
  11. I was diagnosed about a year ago with MS. The worst part is that I am 60. (where did all of my life go ??) I have good days and bad days, but never bad days, geocaching. Sometimes Im a little slow in the woods, but, I do make it. My dog stays with me, and generally my adult daughters and son in law and grandson all go together. GC has had an impact on my life too. So far, I have not gotten any worse, so (knock on wood) maybe I can maintain status quo until I get too old. I try to go with someone, most of the time or at least my dog (Whats that Lassie, Timmy fell down a well ??). So, I have someone with me, if needed. Good Luck Rick
  12. About 20 Miles North of Houston. Near Lake Houston.
  13. "I see dead ammo boxes !" My sixth sense doesn't help much. I use cunning, gile, experience, and dumb luck... Mostly the latter.
  14. The way I do it, is I use Netscape composer. I surf with IE, but compose with Netscape. I like it a lot more than Front Page. Netscape is WYSIWYG. I can create it the way I want it, then when I get it just right, I sign into GC.com and copy and paste the results. Once in awhile, I have to tweak it using the "edit" function. Also, I found, that if I keep my pages to 70% of the page width, then the advertisements on the GC page don't mess up my layout. Hope this helps. Netscape has a real low learning curve. Download and try it, you might like it. But, IE is still better to surf, because it is so intergrated to the rest of MS.... Rick
  15. I am International Airline Dispatcher for Continental Airlines, in Houston. Dispatchers don't dispatch aircraft, (huh ?) We do the flight plans, for each flight. How fast, how high, how much payload, how much fuel, which route, allow for the weather, etc. I currently work on Europe and South America.
  16. Yes, you should log it. But, I would also send an email to the owner, explaining how you did it, so that the next one he puts out, he allows for the chance that someone can solve it that way. I know I would appreciate it, if someone sent me an email about they solved a different way than I expected.. I own several puzzle caches, all are different, but as an owner, I try to figure every different way to solve them. Sometimes you can't think of everything.
  17. Walmart sells dill pickles in plastic gallon jugs, which are, of course waterproof and large enough to hold all kinds of things.. A little camo burlap or camo tape, and you have a great container. I always hot glue a ring to the bottom and hot glue the camo bulap on. I attach a light chain or aircraft cable on, and secure it to a tree. That way it doesnt walk off. hehehehe
  18. You wouldn't have to retrive the balls, if Stage 1 was near the rear of a driving range .. heheheh
  19. Nice Job ! I go for the camo bulap, myself. All of my cans have it on them. Here is a tube I did. It is 2" x 10", sprayed with dark green paint and then with camo burlap glued on with a glue gun. Then I "shred" it a bit to further break up the edges. You might try it for breaking up the hard edges.
  20. Darn.. I did it and was so tried I forgot to log it.... BTW, for some of you, that don't know, the dog is "Cujo", and is aTB, actually.. Rick
  21. Gee, you people must geocaching in BFE ! Since I live in the 4th largest city, mine is all a 2-3 hour walk in the woods. I use a fishing vest, holds everything I want and I put ice in my CamelBak, which goes in the large game pocket in the rear, keeping my back cool, while I walk. I guess if I was hiking a long way, I would have a good back pack, interesting to read about, tho Got my Vista and Pocket PC in my Otter Case, walking staff and Panama Jack hat. No wonder the rest of the Texas Vikings call me "Indy"
