  1. What if you bought the waterproof bag, put water in it, then put your GPSr in the water....
  2. I have a cache about 6 feet from my fence... It is "Urban cammoed" and has been a lot of fun. Of course, no one knows it's my house it is by....hahahaha
  3. US Navy 1963-1967 Hospital Corpsman Yokosuka, Japan 3rd Marine Airwing El Toro Medivac Helicopter Fleet Marine Force Wish I would have stayed have 40 years in now...
  4. I've been looking for a fire hydrant.... Would love to put that in the woods !
  5. I agree.... but, one question, you were born in 1885, too ???
  6. Geeze...you people are going way out.... I bought a cheap fishing vest (with all the little pockets) and stuffed it... Things for repairing others caches... But, then I live in the US 4th largest city and altho the woods are thick, they are fairly short, and we do a lot of parks and urban area with caches. I guess if I was going to the Sierra's it would be different..
  7. I bought a large (12 ft square) piece of camo burlap at Walmart. Think it was around $10. It should last me about 2 years ! I take my ammo can, spray it with green rustoleum paint, then use my hot glue gun to glue the burlap on the ammo box.. I leave some hanging over and "shred" it. Put a chain on it, bolt it to a stump and 10 feet away, you can't see it...
  8. If you are in a public place, then you have the right to take pictures of anything you can see, even if it is on private property. If you are on Private property, or property owner by the US government, they can limit picture taking (like area 51, or any Navy base, etc). I am a former pro. Photographer and have taken thousands of pics at various times. A long as I am on public property, no one can stop me. That is how paparazzi get the stars pics...
  9. "Looks like private property to me. The people that own and run it should be able to decorate the property however they choose within legal limitations of course." Ha,...try that in Houston. No zoning but instead Home owners associations. nasty letters for grass clipping on driveway, curbline not edged...etc.
  10. Besides my Panama Jack Hat, I have a cheap fishing vest. All kinds of places to put stuff, but still easy to get thru the Texas briars. Also my Camelbak and my staff. My daughters thought is was funny to buy "Indy" a bull whip for Christmas ! "dum,da dum, da da"
  11. I was told (when I submitted my virtual) that no virtuals were being approved in Texas and besides, the tree is only 350 years old !
  12. I don't have a large number of find (36) nor placed (4) But I only started in June. But also, I prefer to my "placed" or owned to be special. Ones that mean something. You know, quality instead of quantity. I don't like the idea of throwing tupperware out of the car window as you go by, I don't call that placing a cache ! Yes, I'm the guy who carved Runes on stones and placed them in the woods..hahahaah (Thorolfur's Treasure) Rick
  13. Locally in Houston, $3.99 for .30 cal amd $5.99 for .50 cal, in good condition. .50 Cal new...$11.00 I wire brush them, then spray them with rustoelum dark green paint and then glue camo burlap on. I also remove rubber seal (if possible) and then silicone it. The camo makes it very difficult to find 10 feet away, except in the fall, when we lose a lot of leaves.
  14. I did one, where I carved Viking Runes on rocks. Check out : Thorolfur's Treasure Waypoint: GCM9VJ Rick
  15. I did one, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d9-1fac1733da7b where I carved a Viking rune on the bottom of "several" stones and then gave the coord, with 16 different runes. find one stone match it to the rune, go to those coordinates and find another stone. Texas Vikings
  16. I bought a Etrex Vista to be used with my Powered Paraglider and dsaw something about "geocaching" while flying on one of the sites. I researched it and found it was like the old Treasure hunts we used to do with cars back in the 70's. I have only found 27 and have 2 out and working on a third multiple. PPG-Rick
