  1. @ cincol, great to see that you got your centroid. Congratulations.
  2. Ah, there it is! Thank you! Now why didn't it show last night? Or did it show and I just didn't see it? That's what you get when you are working at midnight hours. One embarrasses himself.
  3. Hi All I have created a listing for a cache I am planning on hiding. As I did not yet hide the cache, I did not enable the listing. Now I am trying to locate the listing on order for me to edit/update it, but I cannot find it. Where am I not looking?
  4. I can't even guess, as I do not understand the question?
  5. Here is my Centroid as calculated by GSAK today: S 27° 11.900 E 26° 43.897 It is West of Viljoenskroon, South of Orkney, in Free State, on the R30 .
  6. Hi All I will be attending the cache in Pretoria with a "twin" in Durban this weekend. Please do not remove the device from the containers, but feel free to try and beat me there, or join me/us for a nice geocaching experience. Thanks
  7. Congratulations to both Danie Viljoen and Wormgeocash from my side.
  8. 7Gryph7, way of the dragon it is. I was getting scared that I have to search for another question to ask. Chuck gets defeated approx 1h35min into the movie, that was filmed entirely on location in Rome, with the scene in question filmed t the Colloseum.
  9. Oh, wow! Thank you very much! I was entering my own Chimera in that case, as I was suffering from a severe case of wishful thinking... I was thinking of a question relating to Bruce Lee, the Chinese Actor. The question was inspired by a cache in Centurion, GC2KG50. In one of his movies, Bruce Lee fights the World Karate Champion, played by the famous actor Chuck Norris, and kills him. I want to know: What is the name of the movie? If you are unsure, I would take the city where the story unfolds as half an answer...
  10. Like 7Gryph7, I too am not a very new new cacher, but I only found a way to get onto the forums about 3 weeks ago... If you reccon that isn't new, sorry. I just want to say "Hello" to the community on the forums. So, uhm, Hello...
  11. Is that not a griffin/griffon/gryphon ? A Chimera is part human part animal I think. Trev the Gryphon is indeed the creature with the lions body and the eagles head and wings. but no, the chimera has no human part. I remember from MI 2 that Chimera was (in the movie) a deadly virus, named after the Greek Mythology creature, but as far as I remember, I have no idea what the creature was. All I know is it was deadly, and caused many to die. I would, uhm... guess, it was the 3-headed hell-hound that was kept by the god of the underworld to prevent souls from escaping Hades?
  12. In my case, the GPS Power trail that was published over the weekend, run around my house, and between my house and that of my fiancee. That means that I have easy access to geocaches in my area to do the Daily caching thing. As I am in accounting/auditing, it isn't always possible to do an interesting cache. I tried, on Saturday, to do 3 interesting caches, and the 3rd was part of this GPS series. Found it easily, and it was motivating after my 2 DNF's on the interesting caches. I use the GPS trail as a "worst case scenario backup", and still go looking for the interesting caches first. But, like RedGlobe said, I too will probably enjoy doing a power trail (or part thereof) with some other cachers, purely as a social opportunity. I doubt I would ever do a power trail on my own. But one here and one there being part of a power trail, I find it convenient. If you still need some help, let me know, MadSons, I might have an interesting container or 2. But hiding places not so much...
  13. Let us know when your article is published, I'm sure Groundspeak could even include it in their "Geocaching in the News" section of their weekly newsletters, and it would be interesting to read. Good luck.
  14. My solution: Step 1: read as much of the information as possible. Step 2: Google everything else. I once googled a clue and it gave me the container. And if after, say a few months and I still haven't solved it, PAF (Phone A Friend)! Worked in the past: (Sorry, I don't know how to create a link...) GC27GZ3 - Potch Treasure GC1XT4W - Data Transfer Others are just: Go to the given coords, find other information there, and calculate the final coords: GC1Z3MV - A"maze"ing GC27JNP - Potch Pirate It all depends. Follow your instincts, knowledge and thoughts. Try to think like the cache owner. He/she had an idea, got the information to "hide" the idea, and want people to make the effort to solve the puzzle. Oh, and Good Luck!
  15. I think I might be too late, but I would also like to do the "Twin Pretoria". DiePienaars introduced me to geocaching, and I met their twin, RedGlobe at an event this week. He told me about this cache (I havent been caching that side of PTA yet). Anybody from good ol' Durbs interested? I would prefer a weekend, and with a few days notice, at least, as I travel alot between Pretoria, Centurion and Boksburg. But I have been to the Bon Accord dam before, so the multi-cache shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  16. How am I supposed to know that without Google? I wasn't even born then!!! My Parents weren't even married then...
  17. I am an auditing student, and as part of my studies the new companies act (2008), as well as the Income Tax act was presented to me. I am happy to share my thoughts on the subject. Firstly, let me begin by saying that I like the idea of a body that can help geocachers, and like CarbonHunter, Disconbob and CownChicken mentioned, it might lose some appeal if it becomes mainstream, even if I doubt it would. I would, however, just want it to be confirmed that membership to such a body/association would be entirely optional to geocaching, similar to being a premium member on geocaching.com. You can do a lot more/optional stuff, but you could quite easily get by without it. Also, being approved as a Section 30 Public Charity Entity (I know it as "Openbare Weldaadsorganisasie", sorry, I studied in Afrikaans and only recently completed my academic training, the English is still out of reach sometimes) the company must be involved in one or more of a number of specific charity activities, as listed in Part I of the 9th Schedule of the Income Tax Act. I see a lot of potential here for such an entity in the geocaching community, but the current format/purpose just does not seem plausable. I can be contacted privately for more of my opinions, if the members are interrested.
  18. I didn't know, Rolf. Why didn't you tell me after the event? Congratulations! Oh, and Rodney, you guys are VERY sneaky. You knew he was coming, and I wanted to know who he was... You could easily have told me...
  19. Hi I refer to the profile page of geocaching.com, where there is at the bottom right corner a link that says "Send updates to Twitter when you post Field Notes via SMS through TextMarks or from Geocaching Live-enabled applications." I linked my accounts, and still no tweets. Even after 12 finds in 8 days... Could this possibly be from the latest upgrade on groundspeaks' side? I remember they had a website routine maintenance or something last week or the week before.
