  1. I have a Pennsylvania concealed firearm permit so I always have a Glock 40 on me. I carry it caching mostly because the Pennsylvania record black bear weighing more than 700 pounds was killed in the same gamelands (SGL 51) were alot of caches are located.
  2. Just sand plastic to ruff it up before painting. You can also buy paint that is made for plastic. I just use the sanding method it works and its easier than using an oven.
  3. There have been times while hunting a cache with 3 or 4 other people they will all get poison ivy but I wont. I don't know why but I never get a rash or anything when I come in contact with the stuff. One time my friend who went with me in the woods and walked through the same parts of brush that I did got it so bad he went to the hospital. I was fine not even an itch. I don't know why but I dont have a reaction poison ivy.
  4. Yeah I live in Pa too, the Laurel Highlands were Im from are full of Fossils. Most are ocean animals and coral, its crazy sometimes to think that at one time were you live was once at the bottom of the ocean.
  5. 5. I gets ya out of the house 4. it gets ya away from the front of the T.V. 3. its a hobby that envolves more than one activity (such as how to design and make coins, how to read maps, learn history of areas and so on) 2. You find some really cool places, some in your own town that you never knew existed. 1. Its great exercise
  6. You could make a new cache and buy a digital scouting game camera. The camera attaches to a tree and will take a picture when something crosses its path. You can find em at hunting supply stores. That way you coud get a picture of the idiot and start posting it up.
  7. Always sand plastic before painting use a fine grit finishing sand paper (220 grit). You don't have to go crazy just rough up the plastic a bit don't worry the paint will dry smooth. Most paint wont stick to a smooth surface it needs someting to hold on to like the rough spots from sand paper. If you sand plastic first you don't have to buy special paint most will work.
  8. Thanks for the help, i was thinking I was doing something wrong.
  9. I have been finding caches for almost a year with no problem. My problem is hiding my own caches, the first person who looked for my cache found it after much trouble because my coordinates ended up being 65' off. My second cache I left out was 26' off. I use a Magellan sport track pro, and when looking for someone elses cache's its always been right on, but when I take my coordinates down on my caches they are always off. Are you supposed to reindex the unit on the spot of the cache. I just tried to leave a third cache when I hide this one I walked back to my car turned off my gps turned it back on and tried to let my gps unit lead me to the cache. It ended up being about 30' off so I just removed it. I know my gps is in working order because I can find other peoples caches just fine, and all the maps work. Basically what are some tips to get a more accurate location when hiding a cache.
