  1. Okay, Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot, http://www.garmin.com/products/comparison.jsp says that the 60c supports MGRS but I'll be damned if I can find it as a format selection - any help here? Disregard. I am an idiot, I found it.
  2. I'd be more worried about the idiot who is staring at his GPS and walks off the edge of a cliff... but yeah, I suppose.
  3. I notice in the Garmin 60c in test mode, one of the items displayed is temperature, but in regular mode there is no (apparent) option to display temperature as a data field. Is this support somewhere else on the unit or am I missing something???
  4. Sorry, my bad, that +$170 Canadian (not US) and I probably overpaid because I bought at LeBarons Outdoor Store. My total was $600 CAD for the unit. If you got the 60c that's probably bout $60 higher then you can get it online otherwise you aren't too far off the mark for a 60cs. In either case if you got it from a store front then you got an excellent price and I would be willing to pay for the difference to get it from a store front as well as it makes it easier to return. Yes, I don't begrudge them a slightly higher profit considering I put the sales guy through the wringer. He spent about 45 minutes with me helping me decide going through all the different brands and units, letting me turn them on, play with the interfaces, go through the manuals. For that kind of service, I couldn't walk out of there and order it online without feeling like a total heel. Fortunately he was an avid geocacher and he could put the options on the various units in terms of geocaching functionality and I ultimately ended up buying the 60c when I originally meant to go in and get the $160 eTrex... hehehhehe... boy am I ever an impulse buyer. But I figured what the hell, its not everyday you make a purchase like this. (Editted for spelling)
  5. I was able to acquire the 'D' once I went off battery saver mode. I love this unit, but, my only criticism is the absolutely LACK of documentation supplied with the product. Nowhere does it say if you have Battery Saver activated that WAAS will not work - I read that on another site link - the user interface doesn't care, it lets you select battery saver and turn WAAS on even though its an invalid combination of setup selections. I wonder what other hidden gems are in this that I don't know about. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning...

  7. WAAS will cause freezes or slow downs? How can you tell when WAAS is actually working? There is no visible indicator from what I can see, other than your accuracy goes to 5-6m or so...
  8. Have you updated to the latest firmware? I did notice a couple times I had 'freezes' but I think that had more to do with trying to autoroute on crappy maps that the unit itself.
  9. I just got a 60c myself and felt upon reading the differences in the store that they did not justify the $170+ premium either, but I am glad to see someone has articulated the differences. Yes, I just use a $10 cheapy compass and whenever there is a significant barometric change, my knees give out - and that one's a freebie (P.S. I am a n00b to this site but not GPS landnavigation - been doing it for years - owned a Magellan 4000 and a Loran Serial Tripmate prior to the Garmin - the accuracy and performance improvements since these earlier systems is remarkable to say the least)
