  1. I'd send the trackable owner a message relaying your concern and that you'd prefer to keep your cache inventory accurate.
  2. Psst, your font color and choice is really difficult to read.
  3. I've got a small fold up solar panel designed for backpacking that I've been known to hang in the car window while driving. I think it's meant to be attached to your backpack... It is a 5W folding solar charger, I can PM you the link if you want.
  4. Just buy a Trackable Bug and use that code, you can pretty much do what you want with the code. What are you trying to find out by using a trackable in this way? Edit for Word Choice
  5. Can you give us a link to the trackable? I don't see that this is one you own or have logged.
  6. Maybe some word searches? Coloring pages? Jeopardy? Puzzles (with Cache Owner permission of course)?
  7. If only it was that simple, sometimes it isn't and I'm guessing if their geocaching habits are being brought up it isn't simple.
  8. A good one is having everyone use a golf tee to mark where their GPS says a specific set of cords are, it can be really helpful for showing folks the difference in devices. If you can swing it using a commercial GPS to find the cords before hand and marking it can help.
  9. A lot of kudos and sympathy from the veterans, huh?! Ouch! I say, well done! I figured that since this was posted in Off Topic and not in the regular forums (The Dark Side) that it was meant as a satirical thread and followed through with my post. If he is serious why would he expect an app to congratulate him. That would be like getting a form letter saying "Good Job Greenie"! John The official app does pop up with souvenirs, I haven't noticed if it does them for milestone caches. I don't use the app often.
  10. The amount of time it took me to walk out to the sidewalk, place the cache in pre selected location and walk inside. So, under 5 minutes.
  11. Probably a signature item but you could try to track down that user name and ask.
  12. Doesn't seem distorted to me! Profiles by person, not location, and other measures would be better than just wiping all cookies.
  13. I'd be willing to pay more to lose the ads. Why would you pay more when you can get Adblock for FREE and remove all annoying ads on other sites as well as Groundspeak? Of all the things that might be worth paying Groundspeak more for, this is the very last that would be worth extra. B. We aren't supposed to run adblocker on the work computers.... I'm still not sure why not. How do they feel about using work computers to access geocaching.com? As long as I'm not on the clock and it isn't blocked for content it doesn't seem to matter. They just seem to have a distorted sense of safe (workstations that wipe all cookies and such on logging out).

  16. I think that is more related to your browsing history than anything else, but I could be mistaken.
  17. Maybe laminate it then Gorilla Glue it to the can?
  18. Just to be clear: you can't be bothered to take accurate coordinates, but you want the reviewer to let you publish geocaches that you can't possible maintain in places you don't live. Right. In a place you apparently haven't done much/any caching in yet.
  19. I came across a little free library in a park near my house, thought it was a nice spot for a cute cache. So I put a logbook in the library, put a book "title" on it, and the book went missing after less than 24 hours. I put another book out and it's been there for the last month or so. If it goes missing again I'll hide a bison or something similar in the libraries "rafters". The one I did the log book was in a garden book from the 80's and was tethered to the inside of the library, clearly with permission of the library owner.
  20. When I worked nights and was up all night on my nights off and my area reveiwer published late at night I was often able to swoop in and get them but now I don't work nights and the new caches are a bit sparse around here. I've also snuck past other cachers distracted by a cache I'd already found to get one ahead of them. It was funny to see their logs showing dismay at how close the finds were. You'll get there and it'll be great!
  21. I've adopted out or archived all my caches for now (I'm trying to get organized enough to be a good cache owner again). Molluscophobia is the highest of the caches I placed with 13 favorite points. This one is probably because the camo is a real snail shell with a rather realistic body hiding a nano cache inside it that lets it stick to the sign post. Just Squidinga Around It's A... has the best percentage at 44%. This is a multi with a great view, ending with an ammo can. The field puzzle for it glows in the dark and cannot be solved with an app and no research is needed to do it.
  22. A Garden Treasure is one in Washington State.
  23. There a been a few odd ones but the time I broke a rock chunk off a boulder is pretty odd. I also took apart a sprinkler once, but I did know how to put it back together correctly (even aimed it).
  24. How do they feel about touchscreen tech? How much caching do they do with or without you? Do they need/want the whole cache page on the gps? Would they learn how to use PQs? Do you feel confident in learning new tech and teaching it? How much do you want to spend? My folks do well with a 30 but in sure they'd throw my 650 in a lake! The touch screen part is a deal breaker for them.
  25. I've worked with all ages of kids, I really think your putting the cart before the horse in this case. Little ones (and plenty of adults) don't understand coordinates, stealth, and personal property well enough to have this as a one off activity.
