  1. JZ, I can vouch for the difficulty on hwy 60 between globe and phoenix. I was just thru there in early March. Its doable, and Im sure youll be up for it after all the miles youll have behind you at that point, however just be expecting the the elevation changes, and the curves. Which might make for a scary experience on a bike moving slow on a road with not much if any shoulders, as faster moving traffic comes up behind you on a curve where you cant be seen from a good distance. That plus it will be mighty warm and DRY by the time you get out that way... You might not cover as much ground a day out that way... But there is lots of georgeous scenery... Bring PLENTY of water and be careful... You can do it.. Buck8Point
  2. If you have a copy of Mapsource Worldmap. PLEASE shot me an email at buck8point@yahoo.com I need a favor.. Thanks..
  3. Does anyone happen to have Mapsource Worldmap? If so please shoot me an email at buck8point@yahoo.com I would sure appreciate it. I have a favor to ask.. Thanks
  4. I plan on purchasing Garmin Mapsource Worldmap for my Vista in preperation for a Western Carribean Cruise Im goin on this week. Unfortunately the cruise has crept up on me, and with the hollidays i dont have time to get the Actual CD in hand before i leave. Would anyone be willing to make me an image file of thier copy, just to use for this week untill I can get my hands on a legally purchased copy? Id certainly be wiling to return the favor, as I already own Mapsource TOPO, Roads and Recreation, and Waterways and Lights. Thanks..
  5. Well Frankly Im gonna miss the PBR, the Jokes about paddlin the missisippi river, the face down ground huggin, and most of all I was hopin to have Peepee debark a few logs for the fire.. Seriously Phil, It Sucks your not comming.. It wont be the same without ya padna. I'll be there Friday night with a crew, and The Piggie.. Hope everyone brings an appatite.. 6. Just checked on the Pig and all looks good. I will place the final order for the Pig on Saturday, and pick it up on Thursday, so I can have time to inject it, and let it maranaide. Im bringing a few friends with me this time, to ensure we have enough people to cover the costsy for this shindig, and im projecting that if we have 25 people eating Cochon De Lait, somewhere in the vicinity of 10-12 bucks a head should cover the expenses. Just a reminder.. To pull this off we need folks to bring the following: Lots of Hardwood for the fire. Lots of Beer for the drinkin. Several large tables for prep and eating. Disposable dinnerware. PAPER TOWELS. Camp Chairs. Good Humor. and most importantly a BIG appatite. Doug Buck8Point ------------------------- If I can't Fix it, It's Definately Broke.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Jamie Z:...and it's $7 a night? Geesh. Jamie Suck it up man, The Cochon de Lait will cost ya too. Its a Fact of Life you gotta Pay to Play. And dont be bringin none of them Peso's or whatever you picked up down in Costa Rica. Your gettin a bargin here, 7 bucks for a camping space is a lot less to figure out than how many billion pesos it cost for a cup of caffine laced donkey sweat, in Nicaragua. quote:Originally posted by Jamie Z: I'll likely be in New Orleans on Halloween for nekkid pictures anyway, and a November 1 campout would have fit nicely. Jamie Wait.. Let me break out my violin... And yes I want copies of all the nekkid pics with the exception of course, of the ones of you on your bicycle... quote:Originally posted by Jamie Z:You people make me take another Louisiana roadtrip the following week, _AND_ pay for it? Were good company.. Buck8Point Buck8Point ------------------------- If I can't Fix it, It's Definately Broke.
  8. ok lets try to get a rough head count on folks that want to participate in the Cochon de lait. I will need to know an approximate number so that I'll know how large of a roasting pig to get, and so i can roughly figure a per head cost. I will handle getting: the Pig all seasonings & the Rig. I will need people to handle getting the following: HARDWOOD Split and whole logs (oak, hickory, pecan, etc..) NOT aromatic woods like cedar, cypress, pine, or tupelo gum.... The pig will take between 8-14 hours to roast properly so we will need lots of good hardwood (a Couple good truck loads at least) for the coals. Plus any campfires we wanna have as well.. Side Dishes: Don has already vowed to cook his infamous camp beans that were made famous in the movie Blazing Saddles, so anyone with any good ideas to add to the "Feast on the Beast" will be greatly welcomed. Folding Tables: We will need a big sturdy table to set the Beast out on and prepare for people to eat, and some tables to eat on as well, so i'll need a committment on at least one for the Beast and fixins. BEER No traditional cochon de lait can be complete without LOTS of BEER for the cooks, and the firetenders that stay up all night long lovingly roasting the Beast so please think about bringin a case or 2 of your favorite icy suds along for this one. Please make sure and bring a good healthy appatite, and a sense of humor along too.. Cuz we are gonna pass us a good time chere.. 10. This sounds GREAT to me.. If we can get a good location like the coordinates Don posted, and can get a comittment of a couple truckloads of some good hardwood firewood, im all for Planning to do a Cochon de lait for the campout. If this is agreeable, there will also be a minimal cost for the fixins sperad out over everyone that eats. I can coordinate procuring the needed fixins and hardware if this is agreeable. 13. After looking at those coordinates Don posted, im ALL FOR THIS LOCATON. We will be right by the water, which would be really nice, and heck we could even do a little fishin. Plus having bathrooms has got to appeal to the ladies.. Don whats the rules there on campfires? will we need to bring in firewood or can we scrounge? Could we potentially build a fire like say for a Cochon De Lait? Alex and I are throwing around ideas for something big we can cook for the group for Sat evening. Ideas are welcome of course.. 17. Well... I was planning to come out of retirement and make the campout, to grace all you fine folks with my highly developed campfire culinary skills, but I have tickets for the LSU vs Ragin Cajuns game, and with the way LSU has been playing here latley, I intend to make every home game this season.. Of course things could always change.. But anyways... What kinda South Louisiana citizen in thier right mind would schedule a campout on the night of an LSU home game anyways?? Doooh... Sorry ClayJar... Buck8Point Buck8Point ------------------------- If I can't Fix it, It's Definately Broke.

  21. I know a guy named Cameron who is a B-52 Pilot with the 96th Bombing Wing outta Barksdale AFB here in Louisiana. He is the Comander of a BUFF crew, flying bombing missions in support of our ground troops in Operation Iraqi Freedom. For anyone interested, he has a Really Cool Photo Album goin on at Yahoo with pictures of him and his brave crew puting it all on the line for the day to day freedoms that we all take for granted. Show them your support and check out his album at Cameron's Combat Album In case anyone thinks this isnt a GPS related post, check out the pics of the GBU-32 JDAMs they are dropping on the enemy positions nightly. for more info on the Bombs see JDAM He is even carrying US flags we sent to them on thier missions, and they will be signed by the crews, and sent back to us later on, to be turned into travel bugs/traveling caches.
