  1. What she said! Really, gg, how'd you find the time to design and place all those great caches of yours in addition to finding a couple of hundred as well? Cache on!
  2. Many congratulations to my brother - myshoes - and his trusty ferret who actually gets most of the finds on their 200th! As well, congrats to Nolenator and FauxSteve for their milesotne finds!

    Why?

I am relatively new to geocaching and so I have a question concerning this topic. I, too, know the cache which Nolenator is referring to, having been one of the first finders. The location was rather public and certainly required stealth. And, yes, it was public property. But is it always clear what is and isn't public property? Nolenator's most recent cache - an excellent micro titled "Ask Eleanor" is on UW campus near a UW building. Would this be considered public (since UW is a public University) or private (it's not govt. land or building)? I am considering some hides around UW, hence the question. Would hides on SPU campus be forbidden because that is a private university? cheers fishiam (edited for spelling and clarification)
  4. Congrats to both FauxSteve and TwoCyclists, both of whom have been tackling challening in city puzzle/micro hides. See ya on the trail!
  5. Wow, I hardly expected an acknowledgement on such a modest achievement. My thanks for your congrats. I only plan to slowly plod along, caching as I can given the world of other interests and obligations. I hope more in city caches will appear this year thus giving me hunts I can do in odd hours. Thanks all for you support! peace, fishiam
  6. I have seen people refer to getting a list of their nearest unfound caches. I cannot see a way to get such a list - either from a zip code or, even better, my home coordinates. Of course I can see all nearby caches out to certain distance and the unchecked ones obviously as the ones I haven't found yet. I want a list (not a geocache map) less cluttered that has just unfound caches. Any help? peace, fishiam
  7. I live in Seattle (zip code 98105). There are this many caches in the surrounding area: 161 within 5 miles 497 within 10 miles 1248 within 25 miles 2053 within 50 miles 3649 within 100 miles I'm responsible for exactly 1 of those, but I'm working on a couple of others peace!
  8. Woa Markwell, that Terraserver Viewer is just the ticket! Just what I was looking for - dropped 3 wpts for my next multi cache into it, punched printscreen and voila - a map of the cache route! Question izzzz... MR - not sure I understand what all having the software you mention would do [better/more]? Hi all, Marky's Terra Server Viewer has apparenlty shut down. Can anyone recommend another good, interactive, online (i.e., don't have to download a program) map viewer with similar capabilities, specifically to plot multiple way points on satellite maps? cheers fishiam
  9. As I've never posted in the forums before, this seems an appropriate topic to break the ice, so to speak. I've used this nick for many years in many fora. fishiam is a combination of a character from my favorite Dr. Seuss Book (Green Eggs and Ham) named samiam and my profession - as well as a passion - fisheries biologist.
