  1. I have been all over the local hills and never seen one until TODAY! I saw two and they were large, well not young ones. The first one I saw while approaching the cache http://coord.info/GC22GA6 at 10' I saw him on a rock. He never knew I was there and I was able to take a photo then I let it be and decided to go out the way I came. On the way up the next hill I walked up on another one that was on the jeep trail. It was amazing how it blend in with the red dirt. Thought about getting closer look but this one knew I was there and rattled and coiled. So I gave it a wide berth and went around it. when I got back above it on the jeep trail it was gone. So why today? It was overcast and cool but it has been getting warmer except to day was cool at noon with 83% humidity. That is what got on here to read about them on the forum. Great information! I did mostly everything right, but I should not have thrown the rock to scare the second one away, it just made it mad.
  2. Everyone Gets FTF http://coord.info/GCRGPQ
  3. Very informative topic. I will need to cache more to keep my CPG at around a buck
  4. I have come across these quite a lot. Never thought twice about what to call it, but now I will call them "Deer Runs" and I have learned that they don't always lead to the cache. But they pretty true in the snow
  5. It has to add to the fun of the game and not include threats of removing your log. I respect ALRs as requests to keep the theme or make it fun (funny) for the enjoyment of everyone. But if someone doesn't want to play along that should be fine too as long a they found the cache and followed the general rules then so be it. Conditions that do not add to the fun I ignore. But mostly I'll play along because it's fun! There should be no conditions on the FTF.
  6. I've was stung three times while reaching into a hornets nest. Once on the hand, that was my first clue and 2 more while running away from the Rotten Wood Cache GCNFHM I was looking in the wrong dead tree, you think?
  7. Interesting tread. I have 4 and they all are not moving or lost. I won't give up, but when I send another out in the wild I will place it in a Premium Members Cache only and put that is the goal to only move it to a Premium Members Cache. See how that works.
  8. I find that my first approach to the gz is always the best reading. I always slow down as I get close. I find that if I put the gps away and just think about where the hiding place is and look for signs of a hiding place depending on the size, description and surroundings. If I don't find it right away I may move away and try another approach, but most of the time the first approach is the best. The time of the year, how long ago and weather the cache was hidden can affect the accuracy as well.
