  1. I think there's a bug. There are a number of ways of getting to a trackable log, and depending on the route taken the URL will be different. 1. From (e.g.) your Dashboard > Latest Activity > Yours > Edit log https://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?LogReferenceCode=TL... 2. From (e.g.) your Dashboard > TRACKABLES > Trackable logs > Visit log https://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?LUID=f523a504... If you're seeing the first URL with logReferenceCode, the Edit option doesn't work; with the second URL, using the LUID, it does.
  2. You’ll need a macro: AddTrackablesAPI http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21136&view=findpost&p=272429
  3. There is no period; simply how many caches have you found in total? A blunt tool, for sure, but they’re simply trying to sort out the absolute beginners from more experienced cachers.
  4. Afraid, I can’t really help with comparing these particular devices, though I hear that the GPSMAP’s antenna does make a difference. (Of course, that’s no guarantee it will be any easier to find a cache!) I wouldn’t take preloaded maps into account though. 1. They are unlikely to be detailed enough to be of much use. 2. You can easily get free OSM maps for download anyway.
  5. Tried this out today, and I'm getting some strange results too.
  6. Are you placing this cache close to home (i.e. in UK)? I’ve honestly no idea how many locals will qualify, but you may be asked... From the Help Centre: A challenge cache needs to appeal to and be attainable by a reasonable number of cachers. Your reviewer may ask for a list of cachers from your area who qualify.
  7. Yeh, the map only shows the drops and dips. If you use GSAK, you can import trackable data and logs...
  8. Definitely whoosh for me! I thought your thread was about commercial content, but now I’m a bit confused. Would a jigsaw site without ads be ok?
  9. Unless your vacation destination is actually taking the TB away from its mission, I’d leave the cache there rather than bringing it back. (Assuming of course that you do actually find a suitable cache to drop it in.)
  10. +1 Not too concerned about the size of the icons, but moving the options up to the ‘View Log’ line would look so much better.
  11. Spandoc, if you check out the first log on the trackable (link posted by MissJenn above), you'll see that mikbalt actually gives the url of the image we've been waiting for - i.e. the one taken on Mars, not one of those that have been around since last July! The image is quite faint but you can read the 9 character code.
  12. I won’t be seeking out old logs to rate, but if I find one that does fit the bill when I’m checking out a cache page, I might click a button occasionally. (My guess is this is what VP has been doing during the Canadian trial.)
  13. I agree about going outside and finding stuff, and ordinarily I wouldn’t consider logging the virtual discovery of a trackable, but this has absolutely nothing to do with a ‘+1’. I honestly have no idea (and no interest) in how many trackables I’ve logged. I know this though: none, so far, have been on Mars! I accept that you don’t want to “contaminate” your statistics. Perhaps you could accept that some of us want to feel in some small (and totally irrational) way part of a trip to Mars? It’s just a bit of fun! ?
  14. Unfortunately you don’t get nearly as much detail on the screen of a smartphone. Check it out on a computer, and you’ll see the version Jeff posted above.
  15. You’re a real fun sponge! ? The Christmas presents would still be under the Christmas tree for days after 25 December, but most of us kids want to open them on Christmas morning. ? (Local customs may vary.) Same with Easter eggs. Same with FTFs. Same here. I’m not saying it makes any sense, but I’ve been enjoying the ride.
  16. You’ll need to upload your draft logs from the Garmin. https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=138&pgid=548 If I remember correctly, you’re looking to upload your geocache_visits.txt file.
  17. I confess, curiosity (or should that be perseverance?) got the better of me back in July, so I guess I slightly spoiled this for myself, but I’m still really enjoying the ride. I’ve always had an interest in these space exploration missions but thanks to this trackable, I am so much more engaged this time round. Yes, I’m on the lookout for a photo of the calibration plate, but I’ll be coming back to the NASA website long after I’ve logged the trackable to see what else they discover.
  18. Looks like we have the first photo from WATSON without the lens cap on. Looking a bit more promising. ? https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/multimedia/raw-images/SI0_0018_0668555815_008ECM_N0030578SRLC08001_0000LUJ
  19. Many agree but I’m afraid that ship may have already sailed.
  20. We had a single account, though I guess it was always really my account, and sometimes my wife came with me. The first day she found caches without me (one in Rome, one in Vatican City - two new countries!) was the day I separated our accounts.
  21. If you submit a ‘skeleton’ listing you can ask the reviewer to check your coords for proximity issues, etc. See here: https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=22&pgid=199 That will also hold the spot (unless someone else has a cache ahead in the queue).
  22. Checked on this issue again as we approach the three year mark... I’m not certain but it seems as though something has changed: - Initially the Mystery cache (where corrected coords = published coords) still appears with the standard Mystery icon. - Select it, and the ‘focussed’ icon shows the puzzle piece. - Take away the focus and the puzzle piece remains. - Move away from the area (to change the search) and return, to see the standard Mystery icon again. Still frustrating...
