  1. Hi guys.My old Magellan Triton kicked the bucket so I recently bought Lowrance Endura and so far it's seem pretty sweet. I registered it and check for updates and I tried downloading the file (http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Software-Updates/Endura-15/) to update my device but I'm having difficulty doing so. the scoured the vender webiste for help but it was no help at al. I tried downloading a the zipped file and installing into a work windows pc but it keeps giving an error that won't let me open the installer program so I tried re-downloading the file and installing the file via my main computer which is a mac but still no go.Won't even open. anyone have any suggestions? thanks
  2. I get allot of cool nick-nacks from venders at work so I like to give em away as trade items. recently I we have been giving away die cast Best Buy Racing gift card cars. Most aren't for more than $5 but you get to keep the toy car after you use the gift card which I think is the best part of the swag. our swag bag http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3659496918/ The goods http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3659503676/ some ear phones http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3659501892/ Bracelets http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3659486622/ Toy Car http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3659485538/ Other things like to give are I tunes down load cards, LG pens & note books, Sony/Blue Ray/blackberry/eyefi/canon lanyards, G.E. measuring tapes, tivo pens and stickers. The neatest thing we have ever taken was a trackable fish which we could collect or move
  3. Skelly, the new firmware was released yesterday. I installed it already and it is GREAT!!! To the OP, yes the Triton 400 is a good GPS for Geocaching. Hmmm.... I just lauched Vantage point and clicked update but it said I already have the latest version. it was at least a month ago since my last update and that's just because I updated it for the first time ever. should I be looking somewhere else for a firmware update? I heard the new firmware update will take care of an issue with GPX coordinates being a little off when loaded through Vantage Point. You can't get it from VP, you have to get it from the website ooohhhh. thanks guys. I just logged into my Magellan account and am currently updating my 400. seet

  6. nice, I didn't know that either.
  7. Make sure you register you 500 through Garmin for two main reasons. 1 so you don't pass up a free one time map update which I believe they will only give you if you register withing two months of GPS use. and 2 because it will update any firmware. Garmin has some good tech support so you may want to try calling them if those two updates don' t fix you problem.
  8. Yup I own a Tomtom 720. I only use it to get to my location via long, lat coordinates input but I use my Triton 400 to look for the cache because it's much more accurate and is actually trail rated. Im trying to find a way in which I can load gpx file onto my gps with all the info on it so I don't have to keep entering everything manually.
  9. We own a Triton 400. I got it for free from work and I don't know how to fully operate it yet but I keep learning more neat useful features about it as I use it. my only complain is that I really hate the small stiff hard to press button around the main center button.
  10. sweet set up. did you buy a specific mount for you nuvi 500 or did you use the original?
  11. How weird. My fiance and I were out planting a Cache today in a national park when we came a across a old tree near the dirt path we were walking on. the tree had a big hollow hole in the middle of it. we thought "hey this would be a great hiding spot if our cache could fit there". than my fiance noticed a white film container hidden in it. I knew it wasn't on Geocahing's website because we had checked Google maps earlier today just in case one was around that area. so we opened it and this is what was in it. don't know what it's for because were new to this but maybe one of you guys can tell me. oh yeah and I almost stepped on a rattle snake had I not be stopped by by fiance. should have been looking ahead of us instead of my gps http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3524080655/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3524890536/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/11075777@N03/3524085447/
  12. I currently own a Magellan triton 400 which I just started using for geocaching. I don't have any prior experience with a hand held off road gps device but so far it's performing ok. I got it as a gift a while ago and some how i can't get used to the small buttons and the lack of pre installed topo maps. any way I'm able to buy a Garmin 500 for $170. Im wondering if it's a good buy. any opinions are welcomed. thanks. here is a really good review link.,.. http://gpsmagazine.com/2008/07/garmin_nuvi_500_review.php
