Sony Gps-cs1 Device: Plot Digital Images To A Map
GeoCrickets replied to Team Kachup's topic in General geocaching topics
So, how useful do you think this device might be for us cachers? Could you see yourself buying one? I think it'd be a cool gadget, interesting for a *big* multi, maybe...or used in the construction of the cache page itself... Discuss Well if it is only a hardware solution then you'd have to manually scan through the data from the GPS and corrolate it with the time stamps on your images -- if so we can do that now with the GPSr's we already have. On the other hand, if it includes software to search through the EXIF data from all your images and automatically create a list of images with the actual/calculated date/time of each shot then that would be real nice. Of course, what I'd like is a more general purpose program to take the track data from my GPSr (12XL and 60CSx) and compare it to all the RAW image files in a given folder and all it's sub folders. It would be even better if you could make some offsets to the camera clock to account for those occassions when the camera clock wasn't adjusted to keep track of DST or time zone changes or other time errors. Anyone care to write such a program? Brian I'm not sure but I think there is one like that. I know I had one that would take the track make a map and then put points on the map and link them with pictures from the camera using the EXIF info. Then you cnd have the program make the info into a HTML file. Richard of the GeCrickets -

High Resolution Coin Photos (dial up warning)
GeoCrickets replied to glennk721's topic in Trackables
River City something or another, I can't remember the whole thing either. It has a little green man on one side like in the geocaching logo. RCGDS = River City Geocaching and Dining Society. (Sacramento, CA geocaching group) The coin is actually the RCGDS/NUTS coin, the back side of the coin has the NUTS logo. NUTS = Northern Unusual Treasure Seekers (Oroville/Chico/Paradise/etc., CA geocaching group) Although not credited for the art used on the coin, Tag of Oldhippy & Granny did the art for both logos. The RCGDS Breaking Down Wall Event also had a coin. -

Well since it has a unique custom icon being a miniatur California State Flag it makes it "offical". NOT.. No coin ia a offical coin, but I also think the one the DG has been getting input for will be the closest to a "offical" Ca coin. He has done alot of work and people will see that. The one on EBay is a nice looking coin, however I like the work DG has done with his and think it is a better looking coin. Richard of the GeoCrickets

That is bacause the sandblasting effect is part of the mold. I had the mint change because it was on the order and thay could not say they did not know. However the coins did look good their way also. I told them I will keep them if they gave me a discount on the coins. Since they remade the mold, I guess they did not want to do the discount. Richard

Problems Getting A Cache Reviewed
GeoCrickets replied to zahadoom's topic in General geocaching topics
Ok you guys tell me what is the difference between a multi with a single IN it, and 2 multis. And B, I think the Saturation statements are quite clear on why they exsit, and I dont think its possible in that area to accidently log the WRONG cache or B encroached on other caches. That is all that guideline is for, and one is 20m too close to the final ( and its at the LIMIT of the park, and is DOWN an entire different FENCED OFF trail. The other one is 40m too close to the final but is in the OPPOSITE direction of the other one, there is empassble creek between these.... that is only passable by a bridged area... You could never mix the 2 up... From what I have read, I think it should be fine. Did you tell the reviewer about the fenced off trail and the river. If you did I think they should be ok, if not they need to be told that info. Richard -

People will still get the find. They will just log the find on the GW4 event page as another find. If you look at the event page you will see about 5 caches that are done that way. Richard
