  1. We used to have a boat and we thought and thought of a name for it...finally came up with 'Wet Paws" ...which could have also been "Wet Pause", but since we had cats at the time and took them to the boat (and they fell in a few times) WetPaws stuck. Although we sold the boat, we loved the name. Now we have a great water Geo-Pup Maggie who goes everywhere with us...She is a true "WetPaws" and is a great Therapy Dog to Seniors as well. Magsters thinks she is a cat since she lives with 4 of them She has found some caches I couldn't find! Really!
  2. I have 2 kayak-accessible caches on Lake Natoma. Check them out! Park at Willow Creek access point. GCDEFB - Shipwreck Isle GC36FC - Cats Meow and one to hike to (short walk) from Nimbus Flats just off Hazel Ave/Highway 50: GCK8YN - Olympic Gold 2 Have fun! WetPaws
  3. I wish I had known more about your class recomendation! As it is now, I have a fake wooden rattlesnake I keep in the car and shake it at Maggie, my geo wonder-pup before each snake infested area we go to cache...so far so good! She hates it!
  4. I liked "Dad's Cache" just east of the State line in Nevada...nice walk GC5C1F
  5. He's not asking for detailed plans of Buildings or Bridges ! ! ! You think any self respecting terrorist couldn't get a picture of a Police Car without your help? OK point taken...sorry, but I had just finished watching a movie where the terrorists took pics of their missions...guess I over-reacted I can take some pics of vehicles..what do you need?
  6. I read on these forums a few years ago to take a baggie with paper towels soaked with Windex, then use them to rub the affected areas...arms, legs, etc... I guess the ammonia or ? kills the oil and I haven't had the dreaded PO since! BTW, it does seem to be a little worse this year, huh?
  7. Maybe I'm just too creeped out by the recent events around the world..but when someone asks about getting pictures of police vehicles and park vehicles, etc...I kinda wonder...WHY? There are all sorts of other options to find that out. Sorry. but I don't get it. Hope its legit.
  8. BTW, WELCOME! If you are up in Sacramento, we have TONS there! I'm sure you'd have lots of people willing to show you around! Check out www.RCGDS.net (River City Geocaching(and Dining) Society) Lots of crazy/fun/evil cache-hiders too!
  9. Where in the Bay Area are you? I know lots in Marin Co.
  10. You could throw out your question to my fellow RCDGS'ers (River City Geocaching (and Dining) Society) at www.RCGDS-list@ut80.net A great bunch of folks!
  11. There are SO Many caches in the Sacramento area! My suggestion would be to rent a bike if the weather is nice for a ride up the American River Parkway, a bike trail from Old Sacramento all the way up to the Folsom Dam (32 miles) Check the BART series (GCJYKE)...there are micros every mile up to @ mile 12 I think, and pretty scenery. Just pick and area cache and click on "nearest Caches" to find lots in the vicinity. There are really easy ones, and Sac. cachers can also be verrrrry evil Have fun!
  12. Oh Yeah? Where Joe? We'll be there next week with Maggie, the new Geo-Pup. DryPaws wanted to stay in the casino where his conference was...but no kennels...Harrahs has one, if you stay there. The Blue Jay Lodge lets you keep pups in the room with you too. OK So, where's the good winter ones now? Patti (WetPaws)
  13. Hubby was in a meeting for a few days, and I went caching I walked all along the strip, plus a few short drives and found a BUNCH! My suggestion would be to start on the strip and do a "Closest " search. I started a GC4E94..huge fight going on, so it was fun! Enjoy your trip!
  14. Forman, that last reply was for you.... good luck! Necron, keep asking and ask the cache owners too if its near a bike rental place! Some cache owners would love to take you on a tour!
  15. Jeez, that sucks..you'll get a better job anyway! I will be stopping by my brother's house in Sonoma on my way to Marin County on 10/29/04, but don't think I can make it your way I wish you luck in both searches!!!
  16. I found 1/2 the coordinates for "Pete and Putt's Multi With A Twist" ************, but the other waypoint I need is somewhere *******************" I'll trade my coords for yours, then we can both find it! Thanks for any help! WetPaws edited by Lactodorum at Hornet's request so as not to give the game away too easily!!!
  17. I used to live in Yreka...hmmmmm might have to go north for a trip to see old friends hehehe
  18. Hey! I have one! "Ode to Apollo" On a nicer note, take any of the BART series...they are all easy bikeable caches. There are some water-only ones too... Do a lookup on zipcodes...95628....95670...95630..I know there are tons of other ones, but those are all I know
  19. Although we will be there next week, I think this more than I can handle alone! Does it take more than a couple hours? Sounds really neat!
  20. We are headed to Lost Wages for a meeting...(well, DryPaws is in the meeting) and I would like to cache, so I don't have to go to those boring wife things I thought I'd give a shout out to all my geocaching pals in Las Vegas! ...Any along the strip? I'm not familiar with the area, but we will be near the Hyatt...Lake Las Vegas Resort. I hope the Lake isn't the Hoover Dam (Lake Mead???) Any comments and/or help will be gratefully be appreciated! (last time we were there, I won BIG on Wheel of Fortune! 10000 nickles whoohoo!!) Thanks everyone!
  21. On an off-note, does anyone really check the log books vs. the online logs and delete those online logs who did not sign the cache log? Just curious.
  22. When I was in college at Long Beach State, we went on a campout to Catalina Island. DO NOT go wandering around at night!! I tripped and ended up seated in a cactus! My screams brought a few to help get me out... After a visit to the Health Center, some drugs, and a long time of feeling those little pricks festering to the surface (yecch!!..about 4 months!) made me really aware of how bad those succulent suckers can be!
  23. I agree...I am a true snakophobe too but in reality have only seen a couple in all my 660+ cache finds. I am starting to get a little more comfortable walking in snakeland, especially with my extendable stick...which I whack like crazy in front of me if I'm a little nervous!! OK, whimpy maybe, but I will not let my fear of snakes keep me from the love of the outdoors!
  24. Wow! There's lots of interesting caches up there!! Thanks so much Bilder, for the info!! Now to try to narrow down which to snag Thanks again!
