  3. I have cached alone, and had to bail on a cache because of a guy following me around. I find caching more fun with someone else, and after that one, I don't like to do them alone. I carry my cell phone, but sometimes wish I had something more dangerous along. I feel safer going with a buddy.
  4. I've found a cache where the container was actually ziptied to a tree so you couldn't help but leave it where it was. Granted, there was enough space to sit under the tree, remain hidden, and sign the log. But no one could ever accuse anyone of moving it from its hiding spot. I guess you could be lazy and not cover it back up with sticks and stuff, but it was a good solution, I thought.
  5. I sometimes cache alone, but I find I have more fun with someone else. Once I was searching a cache alone (broad daylight, roadside rest stop, felt relatively safe) but this guy kept following me, first by car - kept re-parking nearer and nearer - then got out and followed around on foot. It creeped me out, so I bolted. It could have innocently been a fellow cacher, doing the same GPSr dance I was doing, but I'd rather be safe than get a smiley. I'd much rather have a person along to ward off weirdos.
  6. I always appreciate a note advising me of any activity I may want to avoid - REGARDLESS of what that activity may be. A simple, "I don't recommend doing this one after dark" or "Do not attempt this one at night" is good enough to keep me away from danger. It could be drugs, prostitutes, panhandlers, or anything that the owner feels could present a problem. I'd make a comment in a log if I felt it necessary.
  7. I searched the topics looking for an answer, but, alas, found none. What is your opinion? Is it wrong/unfair/immoral/against community ethics to revisit a cache you've already logged to grab a travel bug you've spotted online in the logs? Let's say I can help a TB accomplish its goals and I see it pop up in a nearby cache I've already done. Do I leave it for a fellow cacher even though I can take it to its goal within days? Do I shamelessly tromp over to the cache, no GPS needed, and grab the ol' bug? What if it were a YJTB? Logged the cache two months ago, but now I see a jeep there? What are the guidelines? What about TBs in one of your caches? You see that someone has dropped off an interesting or coveted TB/geocoin/other item. Can you "check on" your cache that day and grab it, or should you leave it for cachers to grab? I haven't done any of these things - yet - I just wanted to get the opinions flowin'. Cheers Coastalfinds
  8. What are the "rules" that an owner must follow before deleting a log on one of their caches? I know in virtual caches, the finder must verify their find or face deletion. Are there any cases in which a log for a traditional cache could be deleted? What about something the owner finds offensive or just plain rude/meanspirited? Can that justify deletion? Or should the owner just send a note to the offensive party and tell them to cool their jets? I'm new, so I'd like to know anything you could tell me. Thanks!
