[FEATURE] modification of the implimentation of notifications
JoLTeam replied to DukeOfURL01's topic in Website
Yes, please ! -
True. Both puzzle caches are in reality not inside Vatican City (one is hidden very close to the border though) and the traditional is in fact hidden in the city walls (which make up the border), at the Italian side. So in reality there are no geoaches in Vatican City.

Cachers leaving TB's OUTSIDE of micro caches
JoLTeam replied to slukster's topic in General geocaching topics
One of our TB's was left in a cache in Nicaragua. Rather, it was not left IN the cache, which was too small to hold it, but in the plastic bag around the cache. That cache is only found every couple of months, so of course, our TB has never been seen since... -
How many favorites do your caches have?
JoLTeam replied to Hot Pepper Crew's topic in General geocaching topics
31 "real" (non-event) caches, 205 favorites, so an average of 6,6 favorites per cache. One cache has 37 favs, three of our caches have none. -
geocahing destroyed by dayflies
JoLTeam replied to wildlifeseeker's topic in General geocaching topics
This trail is MUCH worse and is put out by an experienced PM cacher. ALL 165 are lame micros. http://coord.info/map?ll=51.41687,4.41616&z=12 Actually, "your" trail has two parts, a "lame micro" part, and a multi-nightcache part. Anyway, power trails are becoming increasingly popular here, which is not a good sign. -
What's delaying the new "nano" cache size?
JoLTeam replied to CanadianRockies's topic in General geocaching topics
And while adding the "nano" size they should change "regular" to "medium". There are much more micro's and smalls than "regular"s these days. -
If cacher1 and me are caching together and we go together to GZ, I will accept co-FTF if cacher1 finds it first. If cacher 1 and me show up at GZ at about the same time (but we are not caching together), and cacher 1 finds it first I will not accept co-FTF (happened last week) I normally don't offer co-FTF, unless the other cacher is a friend or relative.

Consecutive days with FTF : two I think. Or three. As for consecutive months with FTF : I now have a current streak of 13 months...but February is getting near its end, I still haven't got an FTF and the new caches are coming a bit slow this month...

Rules on hidding, under ground
JoLTeam replied to Sammy and Jamie's topic in General geocaching topics
Half the regular sized caches over here (Flanders, Belgium) are buried underground in a pvc tube or wooden "cellar", covered with a piece of wood. Of course there is no digging involved for the seekers, but the hiders did dig a hole. Should these caches all be archived then ? -
"Thanks for the cache" in different languages
JoLTeam replied to Sanne&Kiki's topic in General geocaching topics
From a few places where I've founds caches: French (France): Mercie pour le Cache It's Merci pour la cache -
I've just adopted a cache which I've found three months ago. That means I now have a find on one of my own caches. Of course, I'm not going to delete my find.
-
Depends on what type of cache it is. A (sub)urban traditional is usually logged within the hour if it is published during the day. If it is published after 21pm it may last until early the next morning. Multi's can take one to two days (depending on the length, difficulty, etc...) and mystery's are variable (depends on the difficulty) from one hour or so up to a week.

Indeed. Let's have something like HistoryCaches, with the same strict requirements for EarthCaches, but focusing on history.

Etiquette - How many times visit before DNF - Did Not Find
JoLTeam replied to rolfdenver's topic in General geocaching topics
For this kind of situations there should be a "DidNotSearch" or "CouldNotSearch" log type. Why? "Did Not Find" seems to adequately describe Not Finding the cache. You can write several hundred words on why you didn't find it, if you want. Because to me Didn't Find means "Searched and yet Couldn't Find". If I didn't search, I don't post a DNF. In that case I post a note. -

Cache locations on google maps move!
JoLTeam replied to pairofdocs's topic in General geocaching topics
Why is c:geo "forbidden" ? -
Yes, I usually do it, but only on the trackable's page (so the owner gets notified), not on the cache listing. And if a trackable has gone missing from one of my caches, I mark it as missing.

Bottle preforms - small or micros?
JoLTeam replied to iWikeCake's topic in General geocaching topics
I have a few PET preform caches and I've labeled them all as micros, since there is no room for swag or trackables. -
is this a multi or a puzzle/unknown?
JoLTeam replied to JL_HSTRE's topic in General geocaching topics
It is a Multi if at least one of the virtual waypoints is published on the listing. If not, it's an Unknown. -
Souvenirs: the mystery continues
JoLTeam replied to NYPaddleCacher's topic in General geocaching topics
I've logged several caches in Baden-Württemberg and I didn't get the souvenir. -
We set our maximum search time to 30 minutes for a traditional, and 15 minutes for each stage of a multi.
