  1. Thanks to all for the postings and recommendations. This weekend I had my Explorist stolen from my car (of course the thief broke the window first) and am so grief-stricken and shocked that I would have rushed into into the first good price from an e-tailer but for this forum. Not sure I can have handled further aggravation.
  2. You're confused because I am a techno-moron. I finally got around to reading the manual, correctly entering my serial number, and got DR up and running. Thank you for indulging me, and sorry for wasting space on the forum!
  3. Thanks. I have a request into Magellan for info on the CD. I also asked them about DirectRoute, which does not seem to recognize the Explorist (I reloaded the program from scratch, still no luck). Have to say the 600 performed very well today in the field.
  4. I apologize if this is the wrong thread for this question, but without the search function I couldn't seem to locate the correct one. Anyway, Santa just brought me an Explorist600. My CD reader/burner could not read the Mapsend installation CD/DVD. Wasn't there a glitch with blanks CDS sent out? Also, I have Mapsend Topo for the US, that I used for my MeriPlat. Can I use this on the Explorist? Sure hope I don't have to buy a bunch of new software for autorouting and topo.....Finally, thanks to all for the info on the new firmware -- I loaded that before I did anything else, with no trouble.
  5. I am hoping to make it to the Iditarod as a birthday present to myself. Still subject to permission from my boss (if I have one then) and the overdraft limits of my bank account. If I go, I will fly from Seattle and nothing would please me more than visitng the nearby caches in Anchorage. As I am getting old, I would suggest that someone pop me an email via geocaching.com in mid-Feb, and remind me about this, if indeed the TB is still stalled in Seattle. Good Luck!
  6. Thanks for the quick response and the suggestion to split up my waypoints on the SD card. That should help.
  7. I am having trouble getting my Magellan Meridian Platinum to save all the waypoint information I upload from GSAK. I use GSAK to shorten the waypoint name to "%Code" and for the memo/description screen I confine it to a short name and single digit numeric indicators showing the type of cache etc. And odd thing happens: The Meridian will save all the memo/description information for some of the waypoints, and none for the rest. And it does it in order, as if it reaches a limit and saves nothing on the balance of the waypoint list. My waypoint list is at about 400, and I note the shorter the waypoint list the more waypoints get the full information saved. I tried saving the waypoints to an SD card, and clearing the GPS memory before loading the waypoints from the SD card, but the problem persists. Is this basically a memory limit issue? Anybody else have this problem?
