  1. I like the ideas. Thanks. Anyone else have any holiday event ideas out there that they would like to share? Keep them coming.
  2. Hello everyone. I figured I would post this on the forums, to see if anyone has any good ideas to throw around. I am setting up my annual geocaching Cachemas party event in December (GC35e37) and I am looking to do some small party games. In the past (this is the 3rd year of the event) I have just had the get together, food, talking, you know, the usual geocache event stuff. But this year, before we do the secret santa, and raffle, I was thinking of doing some event mini games, but keeping them holiday related. If you have any idea, shoot them my way, I would love to hear all of you ideas, and will be taking them into consideration to use at the event. Thanks in advance, and also, if you would like to help donate to the event in any way, just get in touch with me also. Thanks a bunch, and I can't wait to hear your ideas.
  3. I first heard all about the Geico TB's while listening to the Podcacher podcast. I listen to their show first thing monday morning at work. I work in a factory, so whatever i can do to escape the reality of my job is well worth it. And plus, I am a geocacher, so this show is right up my alley. Anyway, after hearing about it on the show, they gave out the address to get them. I quickly pulled out my iphone and went to the page, only to find out that I was not able to get one. I was so let down. Then a couple weeks later, I held an event, and someone was there that happened to have 2. 1 unactivated. he was kind enough to let me have it, so now I can say I am the owner of a Geico Bug. Moral of the story, if you want a heads up on awesome geocaching news, check out their show.
  4. I have so many geocaches that I can say would be my favorite. It is too hard to choose. There is a local one that is in a park, and requires climbing gear, to get 60ft up the tree to claim the find. But I prefer the caches that have a lot of effort put into hiding them. The creativity of cachers out there, is amazing. I listen to a weekly podcast called the Podcacher podcast, and very frequently they talk about some very creative hides, and I have gotten quite a few good ideas off listening to the show, to incorporate into my own hides. So if you ever want to listen to some good ideas, give it a shot, and you never know what you will be able to take from it, and use in your caching.
  5. Hey guys. I just wanted to add my 2 cents here. I have gotten into the Munzee craze slightly after Geowoodstock this year. The closest on the where I live in over 40 miles away. So I went out and hid a few the other day, and plan on hiding some more when the rain stops later this week. I am having a hard time spreading the word to the locals, or to peak their interest in the game. It is an awesome concept, and is fast and easy. as a matter of fact, on the newest episode of the podcacher podcast, (episode 329) Sonny and Sandy discuss the munzee craze, and give you some good information on the topic. Hope to get some Munzee players in my area soon. How are all you guys helping to spread the word in your areas?
  6. Thanks for the help. I downloaded your cartridge, and from what I picked apart at it, I got a little bit better understanding of how it should be set up. I am, however not having much luck with mine. I get it so you get to parking, then it brings up you need to go to the first zone to pick up the tickets. (for some reason, 2 zones show on your locations) you go to zone 1, the roll of tickets is there, and when you buy them, all the zones light up on the map. when you go to zone 2, it tells you about it, but then no locations show up after that. Not sure why, I imaged your sample pretty well, but I had to have done something wrong. Is there a way I might be able to send you what I have so far, so you could see what Im talking about? If not, I understand, but I can not figure this out. I wish it was easier so there would be more Wherigo caches out there. I was trying to have this one done for an event I am holding this saturday, but i do not think that is going to happen, with all the problems I am having building the thing! Thanks in advance for the help.
  7. nah, everytime I try to navigate to cache, I get the Africa thing happening too. What a pain in the butt!!!! Hope the fix comes soon.
  8. Newbie in need of some major help: First I would like to say, I am very new to the Wherigo concept. I just did my first Wherigo a few weeks back, and I loved it. Which prompted me to want to do my own. I tried the Wherigo builder, but had no luck with it. I then found the urwigo builder, and I got a lot more done on that. Now I am putting it all together, I got all my locations, and items set. But now when I am putting the whole cartridge together, I am just missing something. Basically I am looking at doing a 7 total stage Wherigo. All of it takes place in an old amusement park lot, that is empty, but still has some of the foundations. I want the person to go to the parking coords, and see their first location on their handheld. when they get there, they will be given 6 "tickets" for the other attractions that I will be taking them to. when they get in the first location, I want the 2nd location to then become visible to them. when they get to that location I want them to have to surrender one of their "tickets" from their inventory to unlock a message about the place they are standing at, and to unlock the next location, and so on and so on, until the 6th attraction, it will unlock the coords to a cache container. I can use some major help from someone who has strung together a Wherigo using the urwigo builder. I have been at this for days, and I cant seem to get it to do what I want. I am sorry this is such a beginners question, but I can really use the help. If you could help me out, send me a message through geocaching.com username. Thank you so much, I do appreciate it. and a p.s. I would like to get this cartridge done soon, because there is NO Wherigo caches in this area at all!!! and I want to be able to spread the joy of a Wherigo. thanks, charlie
  9. One of my favorite cointests was one where you had to describe one of the "moods" of geocaching. You had to describe how you felt when you either "found it" "dnf", or any of the other moods of geocaching. it was a long time ago, so I dont have a link, sorry.
  10. Hello everyone. If this is posted in the wrong thread, I am sorry. If I could be directed to the correct one, I would appreciate it. If I am in the right spot, then here we go! It is that time of year again, that I will be hosting my Cachemas party YEAR 2! The gc code for the event is: GC2EEMJ. Last year I had a great response from fellow geocachers on the forums, so I figure I would give it another shot this year. If anyone would be able to help us out with donations for the event, we would really appreciate it. Last year we got a lot of great donations, and it helped us out a lot. We had such a great turn out at the event that we are deciding to keep it an annual party! The party is a cachemas party that we hold in December, because that time of year is a bit slow for caching, due to the weather. So we like to give back, and give people a chance to get a smiley for an event. If anyone is interested in donating for our event, we will list your name or geocaching name on our event page as a sponsor for the event. Or if you are a company, we can list your company name as well. Please get in touch with me via email. you can reach me at geopins@ptd.net. Thank you all in advance, and for your kindness. I appreciate it more than you know. Thank you, and is it too early to say, happy holidays?
  11. I know I have posted on here before, but I am doing it again to see what is out there. I am looking to get my hands on any holiday related geocoins that anyone might have for sale. October, November, December holidays to be exact. Thanks, and if anyone has anything, message me and let me know. thanks.
  12. does anyone happen to have The Legend of Bigfoot geocoin that they would be willing to part with? If so, message me, and we can work something out. Thanks.
  13. I sent a message via your geocaching profile. Could you send me a list of the coins you have. I will buy anything that fits my collection theme. Thanks, and sorry for your situation. Chin up.
  14. 127 finds and 3 dnf's have a fun and safe trip.
  15. congrats dave.. have fun on your mission mr. gnome!
  16. name: Even T. Seeker Mission: My name is Even T. Seeker. I love to seek out events and hang out with every body at them. I would really love to be included in your events group photo! I am a bit of a camera hog, so why not take me to an event, and have me in the group shot, and then let someone new take me home from the event, and take me to another event to do it all over again!!!
  17. name: Buddy Little Mission: Sometimes it is hard being a little guy like myself! But as a geocacher, being little has its advantages! I can see in places where you can't. I can go in places that you can't. You know who else is pretty small??? geocaching Kids!!! I would like to travel from coast to coast, and say hello to as many caching kids as I can. Do you have a little buddy that you take caching with you? If you do, take a picture of them holding me, and then put me in a cache, so I can go and visit another little buddy!!
  18. name: Olive Garden Gnome Mission: Alright, you all know how gnomes love gardens?? Well, I was born in Italy, and to be honest, Olive gardens have my heart. Instead of a garden, I would like to see as many Olive gardens as possible. It is a little bit of a different twist on the garden gnome...its the Olive garden gnome.
  19. Name: Sir Veggie Magrow mission: I love veggies!! and I love visiting vegetable gardens. set me in your veggies, and take my photo. My favorite veggies are tomatoes and eggplants. If you grown any of them take my picture with your crop. Ill take any vegetable photos though. Remember kids, eat your veggies!!!
  20. name: Lumnock Stumperfoot mission: I would love to see the world, and see my fellow gnomes that live in your garden, or a nearby garden. Pick me up, and move me from cache to cache, but before you do, try to get a photo of me hanging out with my fellow "giant" gnomes in a garden, and post the picture with your log of the coin.
  21. name:Seewinkle Fizzlebottom mission: I love dogs. especially geocaching dogs. But any dog will do. Send me around the world, and try to take my photo with as many different species of dogs that you can. Like Gnomes, there are many many different types of dogs, but in the end, they are all still dogs. I would like to go on an adventure and see just how many different types of dogs I can see, and have my picture with.
  22. name: Glimmel McShine Mission: Take me from cache to cache, and before you place me in a cache, take a picture of me looking into the sunset. I love the sun, and don't get to see it as much as I would like to, because I have to live in the shadows. but it is time for me to break out and be free. So let me see a sunset, and then place me in a cache, so I can be picked up by another cacher, and see another sunset.
  23. If there is still time for this mission: name: Gnomer Slimpson mission: Gnomer Slimpson would like to visit as many towns that are named Springfield. I would like to come to a Springfield near you, and have my photo taken at your local donut shop, school, and bar. Give me the tour of your Springfield and then send me on my way to the next!
  24. If i may suggest this to you: Just double check your 0's and o's and things like that...and also, i had a question for oakcoins one time, and I contacted them right on geocaching.com instead of their webpage, and they took care of my issue within 1 hour! I hope this helps.
  25. I would love to adopt a coin and give it its own mission and have it travel around and around!!! Please let me know if I am able to adopt one. Thanks. I appreciate it.
