  1. I can mess with it but that don't mean it'll fix it . On my unit, setting the barometer mode (main menu/setup/altimeter) from "variable elevation" to "fixed elevation" turns the tracklog off automatically, even if it was previously on. When "fixed elevation" is set, you can not go back and enable the tracklog at all. How about you other 60CS owners out there...are you seeing the same thing with the tracklog? I know I've read many reports of this issue here on these boards but I just want to remind you and others that if you have any problems such as these to report them to Garmin or whoever the manufacturer of your product is.
  2. I've looked into MacGPS Pro in the past but not recently. Is it capable of uploading 3rd party maps to a GPS yet? I see that some people have discovered how to using a PC but haven't seen that for the Mac yet.
  3. Very nice. Never thought of powering the GPS with Solar but I can see that it's very viable. They certainly don't draw very much power.
  4. Oh a hot summer day say 90 degrees the interior temperature of a car can get to 160 degrees. If you park in the sun on the same day you can nearly boil water on your dash as the temps can get close to 200 degrees.
  5. Can't help you with the power off issue though I would like to know the answer myself. What I'm really interested in is what solar panel are you using and are you happy with it's performance?
  6. VPC 7 will be out sometime in the first half of this year. Actually looks like we'll have to wait until this fall.
  7. You could get an arm strap for it so you aren't holding it.
  8. Why not use CitySelect for just the large cities and then a different mapset for everything else. From what I have seen CitySelect eats up about 3x the memory as Topo and Roads and Recreation. And to answer this question, that would be fine, except with metroguide, topo and all others besides city select, you dont have autorouting... The base map is suppose to have autorouting. So you can autoroute around a city and find the necessary places and still autoroute between cities just without the special stuff. You also then have your topo maps and what not when you want them.
  9. The iQue is really cool but it is not water proof or even water resistant. Also from what I have read it's lucky to get 5 hours battery life.

  11. Where did you learn about this Garmin-suggested method? My 60CS is on order and I'm so impatient I might pee myself. I don't think I've wanted a new toy like this since I wanted a new matchbox car as a kid. I played with a 60C the other day at a local REI and I have to say it's the coolest GPS I have ever seen. The 76C is very cool on paper but in reality is quite clunky IMO.
