  1. I will do them when the creation is open up to us non premium cachers. But I would want to put a D & T rating on them, and correlate them to some of my Old Virtuals and or some of my back country caches.
  2. Submitting the picture for the Landmarks Challenge was a desk based endeavor but where the picture was taken was not a desktop folly. The picture was taken near GCGE9T which has a Terrain Rating greater that 4 stars. So the same principle of D's & T's should be applied to the challenges also. Its not how the picture is submitted or what it shows but the aspect of the terrain should be utilized.
  3. * excludes benchmarks on the bottom of your profile should also have * excludes challenges These so called challenges lack even the merits of a lame virtual and will never hold a candle up to a quality virtual. I really wonder what the Lily Pad was thinking if they were even thinking. And we thought waymarks were different, these new things are totally defunct.
  4. Without ownership and quality they will never work.
  5. Cache Maggots sounds a little weak to me. And we have a real #$%*_)( jerk here in AZ that stole GC 57. And this is one of the real old Icons of caches here is AZ.
  6. Chris: I think you let the cat out of the cache bag. There is so much speculation on the new challenge caches and you make the mystery so simple. The challenge is to take the family car on a jeep run and live to tell about it. Glad you had a nice trip.
  7. Time will tell. I'm wondering when the useless point of you should have found so many challenges before you can create one.
  8. Crosier Mountain West of Loveland is a very powerful trail full of good caches.
  9. The container may be inexpensive, but the initial effort to keep the jewel is quite noteworthy. I hope the problems with this cache get worked out and some responsible cacher takes care of it.
  10. I have used attributes on some of my caches. But if it has 4 or more stars for terrain, and the cache is in the backcountry someplace. Then what does one need an attribute to describe what is up there. If you need that much help please stay in a parking lot.
  11. The same fate happened to GC57. But its still alive with a new container.
  12. Duplicate Topic will the mods shut this one down. Thanks
  13. Some sad news about Mingo. I hope the local caching community can take care of it.
  14. Sax: Its simple. 1. Find a cache get a smiley. (Lets ignore quality for the time being) 2. Find a virtual get a smiley. (Lets ignore quality for the time being) 3 Find a waymark and you don't get any credit, maybe some fun. But no smileys. You and I both know the game has evolved into a numbers game, and that is something that I don't relish. Many of those that have high number counts have not even found your 5 x 5 or mine that we both placed back in 05. I own some waymarks and do it for just something else to do. As to virtuals I own a bunch of them and like caches they are either easy, difficult or lame. Its all how one looks at it and what they enjoy. I was hoping to finally making it to the magic 1000 finds by time I have 10 years of caching, but due to econmonic and environmental issues I don't think I'll make that number by Sept. and I don't really care. I have fun just being me. So I'll keep my best cache in my Kilt and cache for what I enjoy it for.
  15. What GPSr Make and Model do you use? Garmin Legend HCX On a scale of 1 (terrible) to 10 (best) what would you rate your GPSr? 8 What is the best feature of your GPSr you like best? compact size What is the worst thing about your GPSr? rubber wrap around case And finally If you were to get a new GPSr, which one would you want next? not sure, depends on what is available My GPS is just a simple one that has hidden a lot of complicated multis so if it works for that its good enough for me.
  16. Colorado But I really like the one hill that some of my best H I D E S are located.
  17. Its triangulation from the cache to the waypoints, and intersections from the waypoints to the cache. If you have B's & D's just input and go for it. This can be done using mapsource, or TOPO. Have fun.
  18. Head to CO I have a few 5 x 5's in the backcountry. And you are more than welcome to give me your input as to wheather they are fake or real.
  19. Garmin ETREX LEGEND will suffice. And I've hiden a lot of complicated multis
  20. Only the Real Cachers enjoy a good multi. So just sit and wait you probably get more than a TFTC for a log.
  21. Really what is the point of a cache on every darn corner, etc. etc. etc. Oh yea its the MSMD Complex. Monkey See, Monkey Do. And all it does is create mumbers not quality.
  22. Yes it is those quality logs that go along with a quality cache. To me that is what it is about.
  23. No ranking for me, I just have fun. Wheather is be lame or great, its all an experience that promotes the aspect of fun. A good way to have fun with my kids and friends. A bad day caching is better than a good day at work.
  24. Yes I can remember the log from my first cache. A 4 x 4 multi and guess what I hid this jewel before I even found one. October 27, 2001 by Dan_Edwards (194 found) Wow! Just let me say that this is a TRUE level 4. Bring lots of water, and be ready for a climb. There is a corner on the trail where it is easy to take something that looks like a trail heading in the right direction, but peters out slowly. Slow enough that before my friend and I were almost going straight up the hill. On the way down we found where we made our mistake. The views up near the cache were worth every drop of sweat and sore muscle. Got some nice pictures and I will post them as soon as I have them developed. Also just as we were walking onto the trail we spotted someone with a GPS walking out. When we got to the cache we saw a log entry from a couple of hours earlier. This was somebody's first cache! Wow that takes guts going after a level 4 as your first, but then it might be someone used to the outdoors. It sounded like he did a similar trail thing that we did, so watch that bend with the false trails. The bags on the cache have developed a hole, so if the next person visiting could bring along like a 1 gallon ziplock to cover the cache that would be nice. The cache is in pretty good shape, but will need a new bag someday soon. It is a pretty cool feeling to say I have done a real level 4, I doubt that anyone will ever dispute that number! Thanks a for a great climb, and a great cache, I am going to go take a warm bath
